This one is going to be a bit different from the rest of my stories, both in presentation and content.

Shelter From the Storm follows a depressed war hero as he seeks meaning and solace in a post-apocalyptic, post-dystopian world. After spending five years of his life battling the evil Ultras, and then the next five years trying to clean up the shattered world they left behind, Gideon West feels like life has lost all meaning. Hoping to find some form of help, he takes an assignment at an isolated outpost and begins trying to help the local residents.

Due to the nature of the story, the fact that I’m so busy, and that it simply would not leave me alone, I have decided to start posting it to Patreon. The updates will be very irregular, as I am not actively working on this, given I have other projects that need to be written more quickly. In short, I’ll update it with new chapters when I can. And, for the record: yes, I will be taking the story down upon completion to publish to Amazon. I’m just not sure when that will actually be.

I hope you enjoy.

SERIES STATUS: Book 1 is in progress, haltingly, over on Patreon.

Welcome to Earth in the distant, dismal future.

It took decades for the 'ultras' to gain power through corruption, political maneuvering, and consolidation.

It took hundreds of years for the resistance to form.

It took fifty years to finally rip it all down and start again.

And where does that leave the survivors?

Gideon West is a war hero, praised unanimously for a prestigious military career that led to victory after victory. In the beginning, it was really hard to kill another man. All too quickly, it became easy. And, somehow, through it all, he survived everything life had to throw at him.

The war ended five years ago, but now, Gideon fights for his survival from a completely different foe. His own mind. It wants him dead, and he has no weapons, no training, no real plan of attack. He was never prepared for this kind of war.

After bouncing through a system that had no idea what to do with him, he finally pulls an assignment at the isolation Harper Station. There, he meets three women who all seem to know something about his quiet desperation.

Talia: Armored but kind.

Zoey: Compassionate but damaged.

Cat: Terrified but hopeful.

Can they find love and solace together? Can they help each other?
