Sci-Fi Shared Universe - Volume 01

The first of my backlog collections is here!

This back collects:

  • The Hellcats Trilogy + All 7 Previously Written Bonus Shorts + The Life, a brand new short written specifically for this collection.

  • Exploration + 2 Previously Written Bonus Shorts

  • Alien Harem 1 & 2 + 1 Previously Written Bonus Short

  • Amazonian’s Love + 1 Previously Written Bonus Short + Meaning, a brand new short written specifically for this collection.

I originally thought I might be able to cram all of my stories from each universe into one collection per universe, but this turned out not to be true for my Sci-Fi Universe, even after removing Valkyries.

Everything has been reformatted and touched up a bit. Essentially, I made it more legible. I used to write in very large paragraphs, which I only learned rather recently, I am embarrassed to admit, look like walls of text on a Kindle. For whatever reason, that just never pinged my radar until last year. I also divided up the chapters, because I used to write WAY longer chapters. So for example, Hellcats now has 20+ chapters instead of 7. There were also a few minor corrections and edits here and there, but it’s pretty much the same as when it was earlier published.

Writing the new content was really weird, but in a good way. It strangely put me back in a mindset to liking writing the bonus shorts, and sort of reminded me why I wrote them in the first place.

I’m hoping that they don’t come off as too strange or jarring. I set The Life about 3 years after the end of Hellcats, and Meaning about 2 years after the end of Amazonian’s Love because writing for those characters again was somewhat bizarre. I tried to get the tone right, but at the same time I found myself wanting to make them different. I figured that, given enough time, they would have changed as people, so it would make sense.

Here’s hoping I was right.

If you were looking for a follow-up to Exploration or Alien Harem I apologize. I examined both of them and pretty much just had nothing. One of the problems with my older universes is that they began to feel a little redundant. Anything I might’ve felt like saying in either of those, it felt like I already said it with The Life. And I feel like the final short for each was ending enough.

Also, here’s the nude alternate version of the new cover art.

Anyway, the Fantasy Shared Universe is up next.
