Oh boy, May was a VERY productive month. Technically, the most productive month of my entire life. Certainly of my career.

Like I said, busy month! My previously held record was April 2021 at 126,000 words produced. In May, I managed to write 165,000 words. I had hoped for more, but I began petering out there during the last week, but I figure it’s good enough.
Inversely, while June is also going to be something of a busy month, I’ve been listening to the people in my life telling me I probably need to calm down a little and keep from burning myself out yet again. It’s been…rough, trying to hold back, because after a solid decade of always feeling behind, always feeling like I wasn’t doing enough because I was the one person who inhabited my own body and knew how much more I could be doing…it’s become kind of addictive, being able to just get up and write eight thousand words a day without that much of an issue. Despite that, I can already see a few of the early warning signs of burnout, so things are going to slow down a little next month.
Now, let’s talk about June.
DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE EPISODE 07 will begin early access within the next few days right here. Normally I’d already have something up, but I’ve decided Sundays are just off days, no writing, so I’ll get to work next week on it. I’m also going to post another MEANWHILE up there set between Episodes 05 & 06. I should’ve written it last month, but the idea didn’t really occur to me until just yesterday. It’ll be from Diane’s perspective.
MY PATREON. So, I kind of fucked up with regards to my Patreon. A while ago, I gave it a little makeover. One of the changes I made was 10$/month Tier. I did this mostly because I noticed there were enough people willingly donating 10$ a month, even though there was no tier, and I mostly wanted to provide something for them. Unfortunately, I proceeded to do a very shitty job. The concept was: bonus shorts written go up there. Unfortunately, I’ve kind of fallen off of bonus shorts in the past year, and I now realize why I was so shitty at producing this extra content now that I know about my ADHD. I tried to combat this by trying to change the nature of the bonus shorts. Initially I began writing some ‘from the harem’ perspective shorts, but I gave the first few away for free just because I was so excited about them, and then I’ve been posting those bonuses for the 3$/month Tier for Down the Rabbit Hole (the only other series to get these bonus shorts since the upgrade so far). And then I came up with After Dark, but…those bonus shorts are SPECIFICALLY things that Patreon has trouble with hosting, so those don’t work either. I’ve honestly been wrestling with this concept for a while, unsure of what to do. I was originally going to just take it down, because I don’t really like paywalling shit, especially not behind 10$ a month. But that seemed unfair to the people who have been and still are signed up to that Tier. I was also somewhat reluctant to begin pouring more effort into a project that’s going to benefit only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of my fanbase (ALL RESPECT to the fans who are subscribed to that Tier, it’s just that a lifetime of being on the bad side of favoritism has left me with a sour dislike of it). Finally, this is what I’ve settled on: I’ll start producing new content in the form of bonus shorts that take place after the end of already finished series and posting them to the Tier, where they will stay for one month in exclusive early access. They will then move to the 3$/month Tier after one month. I’m not sure if I’ll end up making them free or not. The fact that they can never realistically be recorded and added to audio makes me less likely to try and publish them in any official capacity, and it would be nice to have at least one thing that’s truly exclusive the Patreon, if only because I feel like I should have something that’s a bonus specifically for people who sign up for the Patreon. It’ll take a bit of time to sort it out, but I’m hoping to be able to push out at minimum a new bonus short a month for this Tier. Hopefully this leaves people, if not happy, then satisfied. Sorry again for screwing it up.
DESPERATE LOVE. What’s this? Something brand new I haven’t talked about because it’s been in development for a little bit. For the past solid year at least, I’ve been blathering on about how I want to get into mono-romance. I decided to make my primeval mono-romance story my big splash, but I have been entertaining some toe-dipping and two of these projects are manifesting. One I can’t talk about yet, but this one I can. This is not what I’d call a big project. It’s to be coauthored with Lara X. Lust. It will be a trilogy of novellas set in the Desperate Times universe. It’s the story of a man finding a cabin to hide out in as the EMP apocalypse settles across the Earth. He discovers a woman who is sick and in need of help (though reluctant to accept it) already in the cabin. They begin a relationship as they start figuring out how to survive this new world. The novella covers are going to be of the same design as my Down the Rabbit Hole episodes, while the final omnibus will have a proper drawn cover. At the moment, we’re looking at release dates of June 7th, June 21st, and July 5th for each of the individual novellas, with August 5th being the final release date for the omnibus. All of them will have short pre-orders. The omnibus will feature two bonus shorts. I hope you guys enjoy it!
PRIMEVAL MONO-ROMANCE. Unfortunately, none of those 165,000 words written went to this project. Between Lakeside Cougars, Down the Rabbit Hole, wrapping up production of Dead Freeze 3, and working on a handful of other projects, specified and unspecified, it just didn’t happen. And, due to the fact that I’m going to have to force myself to slow down a little and I have a few other things yet to wrap up this month, I’m no longer sure if I’ll manage to get this project out before the end of June. I am very, very confident it will for sure be out in July, though. I’m kind of playing it by ear. I’ve got to fire up production of Down the Rabbit Hole Episode 07, finish up production of Desperate Love, try to get a good first bonus short up, and wrap up a few other unspecified projects. Due to how I work now, DtRH 07 can be worked on regularly alongside everything else, so I’ll basically want to wrap up everything but that before I touch the primeval project.
That’s basically it. DtRH Episode 07 begins production, Desperate Love will start releasing, at the very least my Primeval Mono-Romance project will begin posting to early access, and some bonus shorts will hopefully drop!
