LAKESIDE COUGARS 3 is in early access here! I was hoping to have it much closer to completion by now, but I lost an entire week of productivity last month when I got hit with some kind of weird illness that laid me the fuck out. It’s about halfway written now.
DEAD FREEZE 3 is still being worked on. There’s been a series of real-life snags but production is ongoing. It’s in early access here!
That covers last month, now let’s cover this upcoming month, and get the bad news out of the way first…
LAKESIDE COUGARS 3 is going to be the final novel in the series (now trilogy). I am sorry. In the beginning, I envisioned Lakeside Cougars as a trilogy, and it remained as such up until I was partway through writing the first sequel. I figured I could make it into four books. Well, after wrapping up LC2 and taking that several month hiatus, when I came back to start planning LC3, I began running into serious problems. Writing, for me at least, is a complicated process, in the sense that a lot of it is cryptic, even to me. I hate explaining this part of the process because it sounds like such bullshit, but so much of how I write is less planning the story and more discovering the story. So much of writing is instinct. I’ve learned to listen to my instincts over the years, because when I don’t, I suffer, and consequently so does the writing. My instincts are telling me: Lakeside Cougars is a trilogy. Trying to extend it beyond that will cause suffering all around. So this will be the last one, and it will be out this month. I’m sorry for having to do this, I know this is always difficult for readers because you always want more, and I know how you feel. There’s so many things I just wanted more for. Hopefully a trilogy will be satisfactory.
DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE will have a double release this month. Episode 05 on the first, and then Collection One on the 15th. It will contain the first four episodes and two bonus short stories. It’s going to go up for pre-order on the 8th.
Once Lakeside Cougars 3 is wrapped up, I’m going to dive into my Primeval Mono-Romance. That one should be ready to drop in June. I’ll be able to talk about it more in the June Newsletter.
With regards to the rest of my schedule for this year, I’ve given it some more thought.
DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE is still locked in, although I think once 2026 rolls around, I’m not going to do episodic releases anymore. I long for days where I’m fully caught up and I have nothing else going on and I can just hone my focus on a single title.
OUR OWN WAY is also locked in. I know for sure that I have two more novels left in the series, but because of the slice-of-life nature of the story, it’s hard to tell exactly how each book is going to turn out. So we’ll for sure get Our Own Way 6 & 7. Seven kind of feels like a good endpoint, but we’ll see. I do intend to keep writing some shorts, but the nature of a few of them will change, something I will explain below.
PRIMEVAL MONO-ROMANCE is locked in. I really want to write this one. The only question here is: will it get a sequel? The thing is, it works well enough as a stand-alone, but there is certainly the potential for more. The thing is, mono-romance is mostly uncharted territory for me. Unfortunately, those who have gone before me have all shown that, almost across the board, a mono-romance novel will earn markedly less than a haremlit novel, which is unfortunately still a concern of mine. It depends heavily on two things: How well the novel does and how strongly my feelings for a sequel are.
SHELTER FROM THE STORM is not abandoned, but I have had to make the decision to shelve it for now. What ultimately provoked this decision was, looking over everything, I found that I couldn’t bear to put off working on a new series for another-at minimum-trilogy of novels. Part of me wishes I hadn’t started it, but another part of me is kind of glad I did, even if I had to shelve it, because ideas are kind of like lightning in a bottle. There’s a window of time to capture that initial spark and if it goes, it goes. But I caught the spark, and I can stick it on the shelf for now and come back to it later. Now more than ever I’m reluctant to commit to anything, but once I get done with my new series, I will make a real effort to shift focus to this series.
NEW SERIES. Obviously I’m reluctant to give away much this early in the game, but I want to talk about it a little. It will be different from what I normally write in a few ways. Firstly, it will be sci-fi split between slice-of-life and action/adventure. I used to write that a fair amount back in the day, but it’s been years now since I’ve really toyed with it, and I miss sci-fi. Secondly, the protagonist will be a lot more confident from the start. Imagine Gabe or Atticus, but he’s already gone through his arc by the start of the story. I know people tend to like more confident protagonists, and I also know I’ve suffered some for sticking to less confident protagonists, but my experiments with more confident MCs (A Warm Place, Raw, Goblin Girls Do It Better), seems to have bore fruit, so I’m interested in giving it another shot. As for the girls…let’s just say that there will be at least one badass muscle girl and one mature ice queen. I think people will really like this one.
AFTER DARK. Okay, this is an idea I’ve been toying around with for a bit and what I was referring to with regards to Our Own Way up above. Over the years, I’ve had ideas for some of my series that are, shall we say, not Amazon-friendly. Specifically: incest and CNC (consensual non-consent aka rape fantasies). Working on the milder CNC scenes for OOW5 made me realize I wanted to write more intense stuff, stuff that almost certainly wouldn’t pass the check on Amazon (despite there being NO rule against it). So all of these ideas have made me realize I want to have a nice little section on my website where I host free scenes/shorts that can be considered ‘soft canon’ for the stories. Basically, they could have happened or they couldn’t have, whichever suits your personal preference. They will not be published anywhere but the website. Also, in case anyone is worrying I’m going to head into weirder/darker territory, you don’t have to. It’s just going to be incest and CNC, and it will be basically in line with everything else I’ve written. Some of the ideas I’ve come up with so far are…
Threesome in A Warm Place between Chris, Hannah, and Jessica.
Rape fantasy in Haven between David and Ellie.
Rape fantasy in Our Own Way between Gabe and Krystal, and Gabe and Liz.
Incest in Our Own Way between Gabe and his cousin and also maybe one with his aunt.
So yeah, I dunno, these topics have always felt weird to talk about, because they’re taboo, but really unpredictably taboo? Like there’s more universal taboos that make sense, but I don’t really think incest is a bad thing to write about, and yet some people might blow up over it. Same with CNC, although that one seems a lot more common and is more me covering my ass. Which is frustrating, given straight up rape happens in a lot of ‘dark’ romance novels, but whatever. I’ve been promising incest for years now and I’ve always been too busy to really invest in it. I still want to do it, and still intend to do a full-blown haremlit incest series, more than one, but this seems like a nice compromise for the moment, and now that I’m medicated, I’ll be more easily able to carve out some time. So, let me know what you think! I’m probably going to write the CNC short between Gabe/Krystal pretty soon. Also, to reiterate, everything posted in AFTER DARK will be free.
