Like A Fine Wine Chapter 01 Preview

So, here is the first chapter preview of my new Sci-Fi Mature Harem novel Like A Fine Wine.

Right now, I’m about halfway done with it and ideally I will be able to publish it before the week is out, though I’ve been feeling kind of shitty recently (don’t worry, almost certainly not Covid, these are issues I’ve been having off and on for awhile now and they’re just flaring up for some reason), so it’s kind of a crap shoot whether or not I’ll manage to finish it this week.

If you are a 1$/month Patron over on my Patreon, you can also read Chapter 02 right here!

Jack Lennox set down the sleek black kit bag that contained his entire life and looked out the window at the stars that had once guided him.

Up until a few weeks ago, he had seen something in that universal field of stars.

Now he saw nothing. He felt as adrift as an escape pod jettisoned from a dying starship somewhere in deep space, with no distress beacon and dwindling resources.

With a heavy sigh, Jack sat down on the smooth, plush couch in the private receiving bay he had been instructed to go to by his mysterious employers. He asked himself what, exactly, he thought he was doing. It had been two days since he’d accepted this job and he still didn’t have something even resembling an answer.

After fifteen years of certainty, I don’t know was a terrifying thing to live.

As he settled into the comfortable material, he tried not to fidget. It was unbecoming of a Galactic Marine to fidget. Of course, he wasn’t a Marine anymore, was he? He turned away from the window. The ship he was waiting for wasn’t here yet. Booting up his Link, the little microcomputer nearly every human had embedded in their brain that granted them access to the galactic internet, he saw that he still had about fifteen minutes before they were schedule to arrive. Well, he was used to the whole ‘hurry up and wait’ thing.

Although he’d made himself hurry up, it wasn’t like they’d been yelling at him through the messages to be precisely on time.

Then again, based on the research he’d done for this strange job, (he hadn’t jumped in totally blind, much as it felt like), the woman running the show would no doubt expect a strict adherence to the timetable.

Being an administrator for over a dozen massive corporations over something like forty years would probably do that to you.

Jack sighed softly and sat back in the chair, rubbing his eyes. What was he doing? This might be the craziest thing he’d ever done.

Signing on with a glorified fixer-upper crew.

He’d at least read up on the job, because it sounded a little weird, but had learned that this was a real thing. There were a lot of instances of people flying out into deep space, looking to snatch up some land or get the jump on some kind of natural resource, so they’d drop an outpost or refinery or starport on some distant world, and then figure out that they’d screwed up. A ton of different things could go wrong on freshly discovered worlds, which meant that there were a lot of abandoned ships, buildings, and space stations out there.

Some people made their lives as salvagers, harvesting places like this in the no man’s land of deep space, but sometimes other corporations bought up the property and sent out ragtag teams to patch them up before sending their own crews out there. It was just one of the thousands of ways you could earn credits way out there in the barely charted regions of the galaxy. But even after getting past that initial skepticism, the more he looked into this job he’d found and applied for, the stranger it seemed to become.

The project was small, and it was being put together by a woman named Maureen Sharp.

When he’d done a little digging through public records, he became more and more curious as to why a woman like her was putting together a scrapping mission with such a small scope. She was sixty five years old, (and still pretty damned hot, in an ice queen sort of way, going off the pics he’d found), and ever since becoming an executive of a mining corporation she’d started working at as an entry level data manager at twenty seven, she’d seemingly dominated business. She had gone on to become an executive or top-level administrator of some kind for, among other things, an intergalactic shipping company, a top-tier hospital that serviced a colony of a hundred thousand, a mega ad campaign designing company, and a publishing company.

Most recently she had stepped down from being the CEO of a vacation organization company that she herself had started some ten years ago.

So why was she doing this?

There had to be something he was missing, but he didn’t know what, because although she’d been good about getting back to him once she’d accepted his application, she’d been oddly evasive about the nature of the job itself. Well, some of it. She told him where they were going, a few of the contracts they’d picked up, the kind of work they’d be doing once they got there. But she hadn’t said much when he’d asked why they didn’t have a larger crew. According to Maureen, there were just six in total so far, herself included.

And he couldn’t find any intel on any of the other crew, he didn’t even know their names.

Despite the fact that he was sometimes a slightly paranoid person, he couldn’t ignore the fact that his instincts were telling him to do this. That was as close as he had to any kind of reason why he was doing this.

That and the fact that he felt completely adrift and directionless in his life now.

So here he was: formerly Sergeant Jack Lennox of the Galactic Marine Corps was now signing up to be an ‘as-needed assistant’ to a surprisingly lowkey salvage op run by a (retired?) businesswoman who, if she’d gone into the military, could probably be a four star General by now. He was positive he was missing something, but he was also willing to admit it might just be as it seemed: Maureen had dominated boardrooms for decades, maybe now she just wanted something totally different. And this was pretty damned different.

Though even still, it really wasn’t like boardroom execs to head out into the field and rough it on distant, dangerous planets.

Jack looked up again as he caught movement through the window beside the airlock he sat in front of. There it was, the ship. It was a sleek, new ship, shiny white metal edged with chrome, the windows tinted black from the exterior. It was edging its way sideways, towards the airlock. It was small. While he was used to mega cruisers that could easily house a thousand personnel, he figured this one would likely max out at a dozen. Jack grabbed his kit bag and stood. When he’d gotten accepted to the job, they’d told him to hop up to the nearest space station and they’d pick him up there before whipping him off to the outer reaches of the galaxy.

As he watched the ship settle in and listened to the clanking sounds of the airlocks connecting, he realized that this was likely his last opportunity to turn away from this course. The job was kind of open-ended, but Maureen had said it would take at least a month, probably longer. But as he waited, it occurred to him that he wasn’t going to turn away from this. He’d known it in some deep, basic way that he needed to do this, even if he didn’t understand why, since the beginning. Since before he’d signed on and packed his life up.

The airlock door was opening now.

He half-expected to see Maureen herself inside the airlock. Instead, he found himself staring at a very attractive, mature woman with pale blonde hair, bright green eyes, and smooth, tan skin. She had an easy, though slightly amused, smile as she laid eyes on him. She was wearing a white tanktop and white jogging shorts. She filled them out quite nicely, with decently padded thighs and sexy hips, as well as some big breasts pressing against her shirt.

“Hello, you must be Jack,” she said.

“Yes, ma’am,” he replied.

“Come aboard,” she said, making room for him in the airlock. “But I’m going to tell you right now: don’t call any of us ma’am. We’re on a first-name basis on this ship, and that applies to you. Plus, we’re all heading into middle age and you know how people can be about that. My name is Sylvia. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, too, Sylvia,” he replied as he stepped into the airlock.

“I’ll be giving you the tour and introducing you to the crew. You’re the last one we needed to snag before heading out to the great black yonder.”

As he stepped in, she initiated the airlock and it closed and started doing its thing. He found himself looking at her face. God, but she was a beautiful woman.

“What, uh, role do you have in this expedition?” he asked.

“I’m the doctor,” she replied. “I keep you all healthy. And I can assure you that I will be giving you a very thorough...examination, sometime soon.”

“That makes sense,” he murmured, wondering if he should read into the oddly suggestive way she’d said that.

Good fucking God did he love older women.

And this was one fine example of a sexy, mature lady.

The airlock finished and they stepped out onto the ship. A short alcove led into a large corridor that cut across it, running nearly the length of the whole ship. There was a door directly across from them, and another close to the left.

“We’ll start the tour here,” Sylvia said, leading him onto the bridge to the left.

Jack knew that even smaller ships like this typically needed a three-person crew to run a bridge. That was, unless, you had the credits to pay for a streamlined, easy-access bridge that was closer to a cockpit, and one talented pilot to run it all. Usually with the help of an intelligence program. He got a look at the talented pilot.

And, as she turned around in her seat and stretched, opening her legs, he got a look up the short skirt she was wearing and he saw her bare pussy.

He immediately looked back up at her face.

She was a dysil. Like most in her race, this pilot had smooth orange skin and small black horns growing from her forehead. He could even see a spade-tipped tail drifting behind her. She had fiery red hair and fiery red eyes to match. Given their appearance, many people tended to tag dysil with the slang term devil, and although some regarded this as derogatory, which was why he’d never used it, he had noticed a lot of them seemed to kind of lean into it. So far, all the dysil women he’d met had all been very...erotically motivated.

And judging from the way she was staring at him, the fact that she was wearing a tanktop that was struggling to contain some immense breasts, and she hadn’t closed her legs yet, he thought that this woman was similarly minded.

“This is our pilot, Riley,” Sylvia said. She rolled her eyes. “Close your legs, you slut.”

“Oops,” Riley said, glancing down. She closed her legs but leaned forward. Her huge orange breasts nearly tumbled out of her shirt. “How embarrassing.”

“Mmm-hmm. You have no subtlety,” she muttered. “Come along, Jack.”

Very nice to meet you,” Riley said, grinning slyly.

“Uh, you too,” he replied, following Sylvia.

“You’ll have to excuse her,” she said as she took him back towards the airlock intersection. “She’s a rather...free spirit. And she has a thing for cute young human men.” She glanced at him. “Though that’s not unique,” she murmured. “Here,” she led him into a door directly across from the airlock, “is our observation lounge.”

The room was a simple one, just two comfortable couches with a small table between them facing the far wall, which was nothing but window looking out onto the void. Right now it showed stars, just that infinite field of stars. One of the couches was occupied by a woman, a woman he was familiar with.

Maureen Sharp. Businesswoman extraordinaire.

Sitting on the couch, staring at one of three tablets around her, wearing black business casual, her dark hair in a conservative bun, she looked exactly as she had in the most recent photos he’d seen of her. And his initial impression was right: she was hot. Goddamn. She stood up as they came in, setting the tablet aside. She was almost as tall as he was, and she was a sturdy, stout woman, with some pleasant curves. Her hips and thighs filled out her pants and her breasts looked pretty big. She still seemed to be in pretty good shape.

“Mister Lennox,” she said, stepping up to him and offering her hand. “I’m Maureen Sharp.”

“Good to meet you, ma-, um, Maureen,” he said, feeling uncomfortable with the first name basis. And not just because he’d been in the military.

She seemed like a woman you called ma’am.

A small, slightly amused smile touched her lips. “Maureen is indeed fine, as I’m sure Sylvia has told you. Despite the fact that I expect everyone here to do an excellent job, we are rather casual and informal. I’ve had enough formality to last me a lifetime. I’m glad you agreed to join us on our little expedition. If my instincts are right about you, you’re going to be...very useful.”

“Well, I like to think I’m pretty useful, though I imagine you were able to put together a team of experts for this, and I’m no expert,” he replied.

“Ah, so you studied me, too.”

“Only seemed fair.”

“Indeed. I’d have been disappointed if you hadn’t. And although yes, everyone else aboard this ship has had decades of experience in their field, well, let’s just say that there’s something I believe you will bring to the table that all of us can make good use of,” Maureen replied.

“What’s that, exactly?” he asked. “I mean, I’m not trying to talk myself out of a job or anything. Don’t get me wrong, I can work my ass off if I need to and I’m a decent learner, but...I guess I’m not sure how I fit into all this?”

“Don’t worry, Jack. How you...fit, will be revealed soon enough, I’m sure. And I’m sure you’re up to the task. It’s nothing you haven’t handled before,” she replied.

“I...” He wanted to ask more questions, but he had the impression that Maureen was the kind of woman who would answer you in exactly the manner she intended, and she’d given him all he was going to get. “Okay,” he replied.

She smiled. “Good. Now, if you will excuse me, I’m afraid I must continue checking over these contracts.”

“Not a problem. Good to meet you,” he replied.

“And you.”

She sat her wonderfully big ass back down on the sofa, grabbed one of the tablets, and began studying it again.

He followed Sylvia back out into the corridor. “That’s our boss, and my best friend,” she said. “We’ve known each other for quite awhile. Okay, here’s the next section, the kitchen and dining section,” she said, stopping by the next intersection and turning to the left. He followed her inside and marveled at the room. The kitchen was fully stocked with all sorts of high-tech food-making gear, including a walk-in fridge and freezer combo, packed with no doubt months of food. The dining area had eight chairs around a large, round table. Currently there was a woman sitting there, a very intimidating and attractive woman.

That seemed to be par for the course onboard this ship.

The woman was very tall, probably six four or six five, and built. She had a big frame, developed by a lot of working out. She reminded him of a Marine. She had very pale skin, alert green eyes, and chin-length red hair pulled into a ponytail.

“This is Elizabeth. You two should get along well, she was a Marine, too. She’s here for security purposes,” Sylvia said.

Elizabeth looked at him with something like discomfort or apprehension. “Hello,” she murmured, then cleared her throat.

“Hello,” he replied. “You were a Marine?”

“Yeah, twenty-five years,” she replied. “Got out two years ago.”

“She was a Staff Sergeant,” Sylvia murmured.

“Nice,” Jack said.

“Mmm.” She still looked uncomfortable.

“Well, let’s continue, Elizabeth is no doubt busy brooding, as usual,” Sylvia said.

Elizabeth sighed. “Piss off, Sylvia.”

“Glad to see your wit’s intact.”

Elizabeth just sighed again and turned back away from them. They left the kitchen. Did she have a reason not to like him? Maybe because he was twenty four and out of the Marines now? He knew career Marines who had disdain for anyone who left before a decade, some two.

“Don’t mind her,” Sylvia said as she took him across the hall to the opposite door. “She’ll warm up to you, she just never developed very good people skills. Here is our rec room.”

This room was like the lounge, but bigger and with more stuff. He spied a huge table with a lot of chairs around it next to a shelf packed with all manner of games. In the center was a giant U-shaped couch, aimed at a large TV that was hung directly over the door. To the right were some arcade cabinets and a few comfortable looking chairs.

“Wow, this is really nice,” he murmured.

“Yes. Maureen wanted to make sure we’d be comfortable for the duration. Come along.”

As they headed back out into the corridor, a woman appeared in the doorway, another redhead, though much smaller in stature. She was equally pale, her red hair down, framing an extremely attractive face, and she regarded him with bright blue eyes.

“Ah, good. This is Anya, she is our geologist,” Sylvia said.

“The young man I’ve heard so much about,” she murmured, offering her hand. He shook it. Her skin was so soft and smooth. She wore a robe that was a little open at the chest, showing off some nice breasts. She had an air of easy confidence about her, the effect heightened by the lilt of her Russian accent. “So good to finally meet you.”

“How much have you heard, exactly?” he replied uncertainly.

She smirked. “Maureen looked through hundreds of men for this position, so, naturally, when I heard she had finally picked one, I was curious. I guess not so much heard about you as looked into your history...”

“Wait, hundreds of people were considered?” he asked, glancing at Sylvia.

She looked annoyed, glaring at Anya. “Let’s just say that Maureen is very...exacting.”

Anya glanced between the two of them. “Oh you haven’t told-” She paused, then regained her smirk. “Oh well, you will know soon enough. I’m sure I’ll be seeing much more of you later, Jack. Have fun,” she said, and slipped off into the kitchen.

“Let us continue,” Sylvia said. The questions were beginning to mount. They all seemed to know something he didn’t, and his suspicion that he was missing something only grew stronger. What was the real reason he’d been picked out of apparently hundreds of candidates? Or wait, she’d said men, specifically, and so far, he’d met only women on this ship. There was one crew member left, and he’d be willing to bet they were a she.

So why did they specifically want a man?

“These are the bedrooms,” Sylvia said as they passed rows of doors. There were four to either side. “This one is yours.” She brought him to the last one on the right and opened the door. He supposed the questions would have to wait.

Jack stepped inside and looked around. It was bigger than he’d expected. Honestly, after traveling between worlds, packed into barracks like a sardine, he was happy even just to have a fucking cot in a room by himself. He tossed his bag onto the bed, which was a damned queen size and looked really comfortable to boot, and studied what he had. The bed had drawers built into the frame, to save the need for a dresser. There was a desk and a chair over by one of the windows, a small table with two chairs around it for eating, and a big TV mounted on the wall. As far as he was concerned, this was definitely traveling in style.

“Come on,” Sylvia said, stepping back out, “we’ve got one more person for you to meet and the rest of the ship to see.”

He followed after her.

“This is my domain,” she said as they came to another intersection bisecting the main corridor. Stepping through, he found himself looking at a shiny, clean, white-tiled room packed with gleaming silver technology. An infirmary. He saw a pair of examination beds, several shelves and cabinets packed with top-tier medical equipment and technology, all of it brand new and perfectly clean. There was a glass door at the back of the room. Through it, he could see a glass table inside of a sterilized clean room.

“Is that a surgical bay?” he asked.

“It is,” Sylvia replied. “With the help of the onboard intelligence program, and probably Elizabeth or Riley, I can perform a lot of different kinds of emergency surgery.”

“Good to know,” he murmured.

“Yep. Come along.”

She showed him to a room dedicated to utilities routing. Basically, the room that controlled things like heating and cooling, atmospheric processing, waste management, power distribution. The things that made the ship functional and livable. After that were a few storage bays packed with crates, and finally, at the rear of the ship, easily the largest room by a long shot, was a hangar bay that also granted access to the engines.

Taking up most of the hangar was a land rover clearly meant to handle dangerous or difficult terrain, a shuttle meant to hop between a ship in orbit over a planet and the planet’s surface, and a pair of huge metal containers.

The last member of the team was inside the shuttle, wrist-deep inside of an exposed section of the ship, tools and gear around her. She was, he saw, also an alien. A xenian. They were obsessed with technology, so much so that they installed visible nodes of tech in their bodies from quite a young age. The woman he saw before him was a good example of what the average xenian looked like: petite, with milky white skin, and glowing white eyes. Her brown hair was short and functional. She wore a simple black generic technician’s jumpsuit with a lot of pockets. Everything about her spoke of clipped, cold efficiency.

“Lyra,” Sylvia said. Lyra didn’t replied, didn’t even notice them, staring unblinkingly into the open panel of the ship, near the top of the ramp that admitted passengers access. “Lyra!” Now she blinked, then looked over at them.

“Sylvia,” she said. “I see our man is here. I’d shake your hand but I’m busy. I’m performing maintenance on the stabilizers. This should have been done before we left port.” She turned her attention back to the open panel.

“Ever diligent,” Sylvia murmured. “Lyra is the most...focused of us all. And we’re all very driven, focused women, so that’s saying something. If she ignores you, like she’s doing right now, don’t take it personally.”

“I’m not ignoring you,” she said, still staring into the panel. “I told you: I’m busy. This is important work.”

“Yes, well, I’ll let you get back to your ‘important work’,” Sylvia replied.

“Wait.” She looked at them again, focusing on Jack. “Turn around in a complete circle, slowly.” She paused. “Please?”

“Uh...okay,” he replied, and did as she asked. Why did she want this exactly? Everyone onboard was, in one form or another, fucking weird. But it was surprisingly not very off-putting, except maybe Elizabeth, but that was only because she was a damned ex-Staff Sergeant and he already felt guilty as it was for opting out of the Marines after only four years. In a way, it was refreshing. All of these women were so...blunt. But in a good way. There seemed to be very little pretense, and he appreciated that. None of them seemed to be faking anything.

In the Marines, fucking everyone was tough.

Some were actually tough, but too many, he’d found, were just punks with over-inflated egos compensating for insecurities, lording their perceived superiority over anyone they could find to talk down to.

Or maybe he’d just been unlucky, and kept running into assholes.

He finished turning in a circle. “Hmm,” Lyra said after a few seconds. “Good.” She turned back to her work.

Sylvia laughed softly. “Good, huh?”

“Yes.”

“All right. Well, let’s leave you to it,” she said, and began leaving the hangar. He followed after her and began heading back down the corridor.

“So, uh, what was that about?” he asked.

“Couldn’t say,” Sylvia replied, though something about her tone made him think she was lying, she knew exactly what that was about, and was very amused about it, “Lyra’s just a weird girl sometimes, is all.”

“Uh-huh,” he murmured.

They got back to his bedroom and stepped inside. “So, any questions?”

“Yes, a few,” he replied. He decided he was going to try and at least get some kind of answer. “The first, biggest one is: what am I doing here? Like I said earlier, I’m not trying to talk myself out of a job or anything, but it’s looking like not only do you have all your bases covered, but you’ve got them covered by a wide margin with all these experts. I’d be surprised if anyone here wasn’t over twice my age and had spent more years than I’ve literally been alive in their field.”

“No, you’re right on both those accounts,” Sylvia replied. “Youngest one here is Elizabeth and she’s just over twice your age.”

“So then why am I here?”

“Oh, you know...reasons,” Sylvia murmured. He crossed his arms and waited. She sighed. “I promise, you’re here for a very good reason, Jack. I believe that you will find this assignment very likely the most...pleasurable one you’ve ever been on.”

“Can you be a little more specific? Your pilot said I was apparently chosen out of hundreds of people,” he replied.

“You were, and I think you’re perfect for the job we have in mind. Right now though...why don’t you get settled in, get the run of the ship, and just try to relax? I promise, the exact nature of your job will be revealed to you, and within the next twelve hours. Until then, trust me. Okay?” she asked, looking intently at him.

He considered it. So, Maureen wasn’t the only one being evasive, and he was right: there was some hidden reason as to why he, specifically, had been hired. What could it be? It wasn’t like he had some hidden talent or something. Okay, he was good at combat, he could survive pretty well, and he kept his head if a situation went sideways without warning, but that was true of millions of people. What was it they were expecting him to do that was so special?

Finally, he decided to just do as she asked and trust her, because although she was clearly being evasive, he didn’t feel like he was in danger. This had less the paranoid feeling of someone trying to fuck him over, and more the feeling of his friends trying to keep him in the dark while they planned a surprise party or something.

“Okay,” he said.

She looked relieved. “Thank you, and I promise, it will be worth the wait.”

He watched her walk out of the room, his eyes drawn to her ass. She had a really hot ass. Then he looked around his room again, his eyes finally settling on his kit bag and, with a sigh, he got to work on ‘settling in’ to his new life.

Haven 6 Preview!

Haven 6 is going fairly smoothly. Production is on schedule and as of this moment, I’m about 2/3 done with the novel. Ideally, it will be out before June arrives! For now, here is the first chapter of the novel.

“It may actually rain today,” Ruby murmured as she looked up at the dim gray sky.

David followed her gaze as they navigated the field beside the lake, making slow progress, keeping a wary eye out for vipers or other undesirables. It did look like rain. The sky had been replaced by a seemingly infinite gray cloud cover that spanned one horizon to the other. Occasionally, shafts of sunlight would filter through, but for the most part it was a gray day. He could smell rain on the air, too, though it was faint, and a cold wind gusted every now and then, kicking up dead plants and sprays of dirt as they walked.

“I hope it does,” David replied. “I’ve missed the rain so badly.”

“Same,” Ellie agreed with feeling.

He felt her tail brush against the back of his leg and glanced at her. She was favoring him with a smile, a surprisingly shy one. Normally the grins she flashed him were of the more feral and sultry variety. He smiled back at her, reaching out and trailing his fingertip down one blue-furred arm. It had been a little over a month since she’d come back. It had taken her awhile to gain her strength back, and she was beginning to get back to the look that he’d initially gotten used to her sporting. When she had returned, she’d looked awful: malnourished, her fur patchy, with a lot of injuries. But her fur was growing back in strong and she’d been eating a lot of good meals and working out a lot ever since she’d recovered from the stalker attack.

“Hopefully we can find her and get back before the rain starts. I like rain, but I don’t like operating in it much,” Ruby murmured.

He glanced at her as she led the way along the lake’s edge. Beyond her, in the distance, he could see the factory that he and a few of the others had fought a pack of rippers in a few months ago. He hoped they wouldn’t have to go back in there, but Ruby didn’t seem to think they would. They were looking for a friend of hers from the fishing village who should have been back by now, and Ruby was concerned they’d gotten themselves into trouble. Ruby looked as good as she always did: very tall, very trim, and very red.

And very attractive.

He still had no idea if she was into him or not, and her slightly off-putting, direct manner ultimately led him to allow her to be the one to make a move if she so desired. He was happy enough with their friendship nowadays. And he was glad he could call it that. He’d come to see her a few times over the past month, mainly to maintain a working relationship with the fishing village, but also just to see her. And each time she was happy to see him. Sometimes they went for a walk, sometimes they sat on the dock and fished.

David was getting into fishing. It was a relaxing way to pass the time, especially if you had someone you liked to make conversation with.

Ellie flicked him with her tail again.

He looked at her once more and she offered her hand. He took it, lacing their fingers together, and they walked closer together in Ruby’s wake.

It had been a good month.

In the wake of the assault on the mines, the stalker attacks had almost vanished. It hadn’t taken long for things to settle back into routine, for which David was immensely grateful. Aside from the occasional attack by zombies or stalkers and once, wildcats, his days had been filled with the calm normalcy of what he had hoped life in Haven would be like. He cut wood, he hunted game, he stood guard, he prepared meals, he checked fish traps and rabbit snares, he dealt with the occasional dispute that arose, he maintained relationships with the other settlements.

He fucked, a lot.

Although even that had changed. His sexual partners had dropped off considerably for a number of different reasons.

About two weeks ago, Amanda had, while taking him and Ellie out into the middle of nowhere for a fun-filled threesome, told him that she was temporarily closing her relationship. Her and her husband were becoming overwhelmed between their varied responsibilities, and something had to go, so the extramarital sex sessions had gone on the chopping block for now.

Although he’d slept with Lindsay several more times, she’d ended up getting into a monogamous relationship with Robert the previous week, so they’d ceased sleeping together.

Ashley was now almost exclusively sleeping with Ellie. The pair had, after some bitter fighting not long after she’d gotten back, mended and then deepened their relationship. They spent a lot of time together, although occasionally she pulled him or Cait into a threesome.

Lara would be sleeping with him a lot more, but he’d hardly seen her at all since the assault on the mines. She’d been extremely busy with Lima Company, more so than ever due to the losses they had suffered during the stalker incident. The one time they’d seen each other was during one of the weekly scouting missions of the mines that they had all agreed to, to make sure the stalkers wouldn’t return, she’d been clearly very tired. And he hadn’t even had a chance to see Catalina again after their initial fling.

He’d slept with Katya and Vanessa a few times since last he’d seen them, as they were still more than thrilled to hop in bed with him whenever the opportunity presented itself.

An interesting thing had happened with both Jennifer and April. Their sexual appetites had apparently been quenched, for the most part. Or, as Cait had explained it to him when it had occurred to him that their sexual interactions had dropped off a bit, they were like someone who had been craving something for years, like chocolate. And then, suddenly, they’d been given unlimited access to chocolate, and had gorged themselves on it, and now that they’d done so, they weren’t necessarily sick of it, but their need for it had been satisfied, and was being kept satisfied by regular access to it. And once you had a need that had been eclipsing everything else in your life satisfied, it made you aware of other things you cared about.

And he could see it in the way Jennifer and April were both going out more often, talking with people, solving problems. Both of them had been very reclusive, and David knew it wasn’t just the fact that they were both getting laid regularly, but the fact that they were now living in a community of people who didn’t just tolerate them, but liked them and welcomed their company. They’d both actually felt guilty, like they were neglecting not just their relationships with him, but with Cait and Evie as well, but they’d all told both women the same thing: it was fine, they should enjoy themselves! David wanted them to be happy.

Then there was Akila. She was still an enigma. Although she called Haven home, and they had indeed cleared out that old storage room for her and gotten her a bed and some simple furniture, she was gone more often than not. She explained it as having an intense desire to spend much of her time among the forest, especially now that winter was dying and spring was coming. He didn’t blame her. Cait said she had a wandering soul, and he thought that made sense. He was just glad to see her when he did, and glad he could count her among his friends.

And glad that she fucked his brains out whenever she returned to Haven.

Their reunions were always passionate and nearly ravenous and feral. She fucked him and Ellie and Cait and April and Evie, pretty much anyone who was around. She was a ferocious lover with a voracious appetite when the urge came to her.

At this point, the women he regularly slept with were Cait, Evie, and Ellie.

And in a way, he was grateful for this, because holy fucking shit, it was a bit much to handle even just between the three of them. Evie had what he thought was an average sexdrive. They usually fucked once every two days or so. But Cait and Ellie…

They were running him ragged.

They were going to kill him someday if they kept up.

Ellie had, from what he knew, always been very amorous, always down to fuck if you were on her good side. She fucked him a minimum of once per day, and their sessions were often vigorous, sometimes lengthy. He thought it might peter out eventually, or at the very least calm down to something like what he had with Evie, after she was used to being back and living in Haven again, or maybe deepened her relationship with Ashley even more. (Sometimes he wondered if Ashley was jealous of him, because of how much Ellie fucked him.)

But Cait took the goddamned cake.

She wanted sex all the time. She was so horny. They fucked at least twice a day, usually three or four times. Sometimes he couldn’t even get it up and he instead fingered her or ate her out until she orgasmed. She would come to him and just demand to screw. Not that he was complaining. Honestly, just thinking about it kind of made him want to hurry home and fuck her again. Although he tried not to put labels on his relationships…

He had to admit that Cait had kind of slid into his number one slot. Part of him felt like that was natural, given the fact that she was pregnant with his child, but he still felt kind of guilty, and he was careful not to give anyone preferential treatment over anyone else. They were all very reasonable, though, and he tried to be reasonable too. Relationships were different. How much he meant to Ellie wasn’t the same as how much he meant to Katya, for example. Cait’s and Evie’s relationship wasn’t necessarily the same as his and Cait’s relationship. And that was okay. Somehow, he felt like he still mostly had a handle on his varied relationships, mainly because all the people involved were decently reasonable and willing to be patient and listen.

Which was great, because he was pretty frightened of the future right now.

Specifically, the fact that he was going to be a father.

He’d talked to several people about it, mainly Amanda and Lindsay, who were themselves parents, and they’d assuaged the worst of his fears, but he was still fairly worried. He was at least happy to find that he had no urge to flee, no desire to get out of fatherhood in any capacity. He wanted this to happen, and that hadn’t changed since the night Cait had told him. He was more afraid of the dangers of the world around him, and all the bad things that might happen to his child. If anything, though, it just redoubled his motivation to prepare himself for the worst case scenario. As such, he was on his way to being in the best shape of his life.

Besides the everyday workouts he’d begun doing, the training he’d kept up with Cait and now Ellie again, he still went on excursions like these whenever he could. Something about the exploration of the wilderness called to him intensely. That and the fact that, much to his chagrin, he was becoming at least a little addicted to dangerous situations. And, well, when you were living in a world infested with asshole humans and dangerous monsters, it probably was a good thing to have such an addiction. At least in moderation.

“So you never really explained who this friend of yours is,” Ellie said.

“Oh, right,” Ruby murmured. She seemed distracted and, if anything, a little frustrated. It was unusual on her. “Her name is Linnie. She’s...a little like a younger sister to me. She’s stupid and reckless. But I like her, and I watch out for her. She’s a teenager. She runs off a lot to be on her own. Sometimes to explore, sometimes because she’s mad at her parents.”

“If I recall, you slip off on your own often enough,” Ellie said.

“Yes, but the difference is I know how to take care of myself. Linnie merely thinks she knows how to take care of herself. She isn’t helpless, but she’s no warrior,” Ruby replied.

“You definitely know how to take care of yourself,” David murmured. He’d seen Ruby in action more than once now and each time she proved to be an exceptional warrior.

“Where do you think she is?” Ellie asked.

“The first place I want to look is a cabin she likes to go to. That collection of trees up there? It’s just beyond that,” Ruby replied. “Hopefully she’ll be there. If not, there’s a few other places we can check. I just want to make sure she’s okay. We’ve been seeing a surge in viper activity recently and those things are so dangerous...”

David lost his smile. The vipers had indeed been a problem over the past several months, and he’d already drawn comparisons between the problem with the stalkers and the problem with the vipers. They’d been showing similar signs: a vast increase in numbers, attacking settlements with more frequency, showing up in places they shouldn’t. Although the vipers had dropped off a bit for a few weeks there, he had been running into more of them around the river, and the fishing village, Lima Company, and even the hospital had reported running into them. And he still sometimes had nightmares about his trip to the island.

Were they breeding, too?

If they were, he imagined it would be all happening underwater, and how could they deal with that? Were there any squids left in the lake? There had to be, or at least had to have been some at one point, because you couldn’t have vipers without squids. Maybe-

A gunshot sounded somewhere nearby.

Ruby took off running. “That’s coming from the cabin.”

Ellie let go of his hand and the two of them ran after her. David had his pistol out in a heartbeat and made sure the safety was off. They quickly closed the gap between themselves and the stand of trees, and as they hurried through them, heard more gunshots and shrieking that sounded familiar: vipers. Not something he particularly wanted to hear right now. They hurried through the trees and as they neared the other side, he finally got a glimpse of the situation they were going to have to deal with. A small cabin about fifty feet from the lake’s edge, the wood old and weathered, with vines crawling up one side of it, was infested with vipers.

There were three or four on the roof, looking for a way in, and the others were trying to get in through windows or doors, with yet still a few more coming in from the lake. Ruby took aim with the scoped pistol she apparently carried around with her and popped one of them right off the roof, then proceeded to put down the others up there. David and Ellie ran forward a bit, making sure to get clear to either side of her as not to get in her line of sight, and started carefully opening fire with their own sidearms.

Some of the vipers broke away from the cabin in response to this new threat and began sprinting towards them, shrieking, looking terrifying with their huge black eyes and their bulbous gray heads. David shot one right in its weird head and it popped like a zit, bursting in a spray of dark gray gore and sending its thin body flopping to the ground. He shifted his aim, tracking another as it came for him, and squeezed the trigger. Another bullet punched into another undead skull, ending its life. Ellie and Ruby fired beside him, as did whoever was in the cabin. Within another twenty seconds, the rest of the vipers had been put down.

A few more emerged from the lake, and David shot them as they came, emptying his magazine. He reloaded and waited for more to arrive, but none did. A cold wind blew across the lake, making him shiver.

Vipers really freaked him the fuck out.

They all freaked him out, but it seemed like each did in their own unique way.

And damn but vipers were creepy.

“W-who’s out there?” a voice called a moment later.

For the first time since meeting her, David got to see Ruby annoyed. “It’s Ruby, Linnie. Get your ass out here!” she called back as she reloaded.

A moment passed, then the door to the cabin opened and a human woman emerged. She looked sheepish as she first looked around at all the dead vipers, then began to walk towards Ruby. Slowly at first, but perhaps the paranoia that more vipers might show up, which was a possibility, got the better of her and she hurried up.

“Ruby-” she began.

“Your parents. Are livid,” Ruby said slowly, staring daggers at her. Again, David was surprised. He’d never seen her exhibit such emotion.

“I’m sorry,” Linnie replied, glancing uneasily at him and Ellie.

“Why were you here?”

“I...” she hesitated, then glanced at the lake, then down at her feet. “I wanted to come out here, and my parents said I couldn’t, and-”

“And what? Did you declare ‘you can’t tell me what to do!’ and run off just to spite them?” Ruby asked sharply.

“No!” Linnie replied immediately, but she still looked guilty.

“No, but that’s what it became, wasn’t it?” She heaved a sigh. “Why are you like this? Why are you so petulant?”

“I don’t know! It just-I get so pissed when they fucking try to control me, okay!?”

“Linnie, there are vipers all over the place.”

“I know! That just makes it worse! They get to tell me what to do and they even have a fucking reason to back them up! They didn’t want me to come out here because of the vipers, they just wanted me to obey commands!” she snapped.

“...how old are you, exactly?” Ellie asked.

“I’m nineteen!”

Ruby sighed. “Linnie, just stop. You’re coming back with me right now, and you aren’t coming back out here by yourself until the viper activity has settled down. And, for the love of fucking God, try trusting your parents. At least a little. I know your parents and...okay, well, I could see your dad being that petty, I’ll be completely honest. But your mom actually gives a shit about you, Linnie. It would break her if something happened to you. Please try to be more reasonable...okay?”

Linnie sighed. “Yeah, okay.”

“Good. Now come on.”

As they began walking back, David figured he at least knew why Ruby had been so frustrated.

They walked back to the village and dropped off Linnie without much trouble, though David had to admit he was glad to be rid of her. She complained most of the way back. When they were finished with that, however, Ruby beckoned them over to the edge of the village.

“What’s up? You need help with something else?” Ellie asked.

“...yes,” Ruby replied after a moment’s hesitation.

He and Ellie exchanged glances. “What is it?”

“I’d rather wait until we were elsewhere before telling you,” Ruby replied.

“Okay, now I’m really curious,” David said.

“Yeah...come on, what is it? You’ve never been reluctant to explain yourself before,” Ellie asked.

“It’s...” here, a small smile touched her face, “personal.”

That seemed to make sense to Ellie, at least, because a similar smile touched her face. “Oh! Okay. Yeah, come on, David,” she said, taking his hand. Ruby began to lead them.

“Wait, what is it? What the fuck does ‘it’s personal’ mean to you that it doesn’t mean to me?” he asked, honestly curious.

“Holy shit, you actually can be really thick sometimes, can’t you?” Ellie muttered. She laughed. “That’s fine. Surprises are fun. Just trust me, David.”

He sighed. “Fine.”

And so they walked, first retracing their steps along the northern side of the lake. The conversation was light as they first moved past the cabin they’d saved Linnie from, and then the factory, and finally came to another cabin by the lake’s edge. This one seemed to be in better condition, with the windows mostly boarded over.

“Is this yours?” Ellie asked as they approached it.

“Yes. This is mine. I found it last year. Sometimes I just want to be by myself, so I started coming out here. At first just to relax, eventually I began to fix it up, and finally I made it my own. Sometimes I come out here for a day or two. I fish, I hunt, I relax,” Ruby replied.

They took a few moments to make sure no one, human or monsters, was hanging around, inside or outside, and he got a look at the interior of the cabin as they came in. It was obvious that Ruby had put a lot of work into it. It had its own little kitchen nook, a place for gutting and cleaning fish, a couch beside a bookshelf that had several paperbacks on it, (at this point, April had two custom-made bookshelves in her bedroom, packed with paperbacks they had found for her), a small dining area, and a single double-wide bed tucked up into one corner, neatly made.

“Nice place,” David said.

“Thank you,” Ruby replied. Now she looked a little flustered.

“So, Ruby, why don’t you inform us all why you’ve brought us all the way out here to your personal, private cabin,” Ellie said.

Ruby huffed a little sigh. “This is difficult for me,” she said.

“Okay, okay, sorry. Shutting up,” Ellie replied, taking a seat at the table.

Ruby looked at David. “The reason I brought you out here is...well, like many women in your life, it seems, if what Ellie has told me is to be believed, I wish to...couple with you. Sexually.” She paused. “I want to have sex. With you. Is that direct enough?”

“Yes, that’s plenty direct,” David replied.

“You look surprised.”

“It’s just his face, he always look like that,” Ellie murmured.

“Shut up, Ellie,” David replied. He cleared his throat. “I am surprised. I didn’t think you were interested in me.”

“That’s fair,” she replied. “So you are interested in me?”

“Yes,” he confirmed. “I am very interested in you.”

“Duh,” Ellie murmured.

“Will you shut up, you blue-furred bitch?” David growled at her.

Ellie just smiled sweetly at him.

“I don’t have much of a sexdrive, I’ve learned,” Ruby said. “But it’s not nonexistent. I still feel arousal, and attraction to some people. Though, Ellie, just to temper your expectations right now, I am only attracted to men.”

“Fair enough,” Ellie replied.

“Good. I haven’t had sex in quite awhile. It’s hard for me to find...suitable partners. I am attracted to a few in the village, but I believe the concept of having sex with me, and only occasionally, and no other aspect of our relationship would change, to be too foreign or taxing for them to fully appreciate. But I have since become attracted to you, and you seem like a very suitable person to have sex with once, and maybe again in the future, but maybe just once. If that makes sense?”

“That makes sense,” David said. “You want to try me out.”

“Yes...I assumed that if it didn’t work out, it wouldn’t bother you because you have other women in your life...”

“Well, that’s a fair assumption,” David replied, with a small laugh. “Regardless, if we have sex and you decide you don’t want to do it with me again, you won’t have to worry about any negative feelings from me. If you want, we can have sex now, and things can continue exactly as they have been going between us.”

“That is what I think will most likely happen, though if this goes well, I will admit that it would be nice to have someone to make love with on occasion...if that is okay,” Ruby replied.

“That is very okay,” David said.

“I could’ve told you that...would it be too much for you if I watched?” Ellie asked.

“No, I don’t mind,” Ruby replied.

“Thank God,” Ellie muttered, settling back deeper into her chair.

“So, should we...” David began, shrugging out of his pack.

“Yes. I can spare an hour,” Ruby replied, doing the same. While they began to undress, she looked at him intently. “I’m curious...what do you find attractive about me?”

“I...” David hesitated.

“It’s not a trick question, David. You can take what Ruby says at face value,” Ellie offered.

“Why would it be a trick question?” Ruby asked.

“It’s...complicated. But okay, face value. Well, intangibly, your competence at survival and sharpshooting, your bravery, the way you keep calm in the face of danger. Physically? I love how tall you are, I love the fact that you’re not human, and your fur is beautiful.

“Oh. Interesting. Most men are put off by my height,” Ruby said as she took off her shirt and then peeled off the bra she wore beneath it, freeing some really fucking sexy medium-sized breasts. Then she pulled her shorts down.

“David has a thing for tall women,” Ellie said.

“That’s extremely true,” David agreed as he finished getting naked and quickly began the process of washing up with a bottle of water, a rag, and a thin bar of soap.

“I guess that does hold true, although don’t I seem short by comparison with regards to Evelyn, or Vanessa?” she asked.

“I mean, directly compared to them, yeah. But they aren’t here, and you aren’t a goliath. You’re a jag. You’ve probably got a good four vertical inches on me, and that is really hot,” David replied.

“Why is that?”

He shrugged. “I honestly have no idea. I’ve never really heard anyone adequately explain why they are attracted to what they are attracted to. Tall women turn me on. Inhuman women turn me on. Tough women turn me on. It is what it is.”

“I suppose that is true.”

Ruby did some basic washing as he finished up his own, and the two of them crawled onto the bed. David felt an ironically familiar thrill that came from going to bed with an unfamiliar woman for the first time. He’d gotten to know Ruby over the past few months...sort of. She liked to fish, she liked to read, she liked to be by herself, and once she set her mind to a task she didn’t want to stop until it was finished. Could he satisfy her? Probably the question that bugged him the most whenever he was going to have sex with a new woman.

Fuck, she was really tall. It was weird that that was leaping out at him, but he supposed he was used to goliaths being tall because, well, they were goliaths. It was different with a non-goliath. She had a beautiful body, her hips and thighs trim and athletic, her frame long and sleek. She really did have seriously fucking hot tits and that was where his hand went first, almost on its own. She let him touch her breast, caressing it at first, feeling her soft, warm red fur against his bare skin, and then cupping it, groping it gently.

She leaned in and kissed him, and that quickly turned into making out. As they kissed and began to touch tongues together, and he felt her run her soft hand over his body, he was a little surprised. He’d thought she’d be more tentative or hesitant, but she was pretty much diving right in. Well, confidence seemed to carry over into sex with her. That wasn’t true for everyone. There was something hot, and very intimidating, about that.

It had been that way with Cait, and with Akila, and Ellie.

“You taste good, David,” she whispered into the kiss.

“So do you, Ruby,” he replied, sliding his hand down her side and coming to rest on her fit, firm ass. Her ass had a bit of a swell to it, a bit more padding than the rest of her, and it sent such a thrill of excited lust through him as he groped it.

“How badly do you want to fuck me, David?” Ruby whispered.

“Very, very badly,” he murmured.

She shivered gently. “I had forgotten what it feels like to be desired so intensely...it is such a good feeling.”

“Yes,” he agreed, kissing her again. He slipped a hand in between her fit thighs and began to pleasure her, eliciting a loud moan from her. “I desire you so intensely, Ruby. You’re such a beautiful, desirable woman.”

She moaned louder and he pressed harder, rubbing in hard, fast little circles on her clit. She bucked her hips against his finger, groaning in sheer pleasure. Her kissing intensified and she gripped his cock firmly, massaging it in her grasp, sending little shocks of pleasure into him, building up even more lust inside of him.

He kept fingering her for a bit longer, then slipped his finger inside of her and oh holy fucking shit she was tight. Her pussy felt so goddamned tight around his finger as he fucked her slowly with it, pressing up into her most sensitive spot, getting louder cries of pleasure from her. He kept that up for awhile, then switched back to stimulating her clit, and going through this cycle twice more got an intense orgasm from her.

Her long, lean, red-furred body looked marvelously beautiful as it twitched and writhed in the bed beside him, against him, as she came. He continued pleasuring her, stimulating her throughout the orgasm, listening to her moans and gasps of bliss. When she was finished, she placed her hand flat against his chest and pushed him onto his back.

“Now it is my turn to pleasure you,” she said, her voice sedate, her expression serene as she looked into his eyes. Then she kissed him and slipped nimbly down lower until she was between his legs. She slipped her lips slowly, carefully over the head of his cock and immediately sent a shock of hot pleasure into him. He groaned loudly and fought not to shift around too much as she continued taking his dick into her mouth. Her movements were slow and languid as she began to suck him off, putting her wonderful lips to use.

“You...do not seem inexperienced,” he panted as she began bobbing her head.

“I doubt I’m as experienced as most of the women in your life,” she said, and licked the bottom of his cock, making him shudder and groan, “but I know enough to get by.”

“Apparently.”

“You sure look good with his dick in your mouth,” Ellie murmured.

Ruby simply smiled and went back to giving him head. She worked up a good mouthful of spit as she sucked his dick, slipping her lips up over the head again and again, sending intense waves of bliss radiating out through his body. She coated his dick in a layer of her hot saliva and then took it out of her mouth.

“Can I be on top?” she asked.

“Hell yes,” he replied immediately, and she let out a small laugh.

“You’re very enthusiastic, aren’t you?” she asked as she mounted him easily.

“Who the fuck wouldn’t be?” he replied.

“Yeah,” Ellie agreed.

“The few experiences I’ve had with sex...well, I get the feeling that my partners were either intimidated by me, or too uncomfortable with emotional expression to properly convey how they felt about the encounter. I think they feared I would take them less seriously if they showed enthusiasm for the encounter,” she murmured as she straddled him.

“Definitely don’t have to worry about that with David,” Ellie said. “He just gets stupid happy about sex.”

“Because it makes me stupid happy,” he replied. “And-oh my fucking God...” he groaned as she began introducing his cock to her pussy.

Her very hot and wet, and exquisitely tight pussy.

“You doing okay there, David?” Ellie asked, laughing.

“I...oh wow...this is...oh fuck...” he moaned as she worked him deeper into her.

“You are bigger than I thought,” Ruby murmured as she rose up, lowered herself, rose up again, lowered herself again, her movements careful.

“Well, you’re pretty thin,” Ellie said. “And he’s got a good heft to him, make sure you don’t hurt yourself. You do not want tearing.”

“No, I don’t,” she murmured.

David waited while she eased him inside of her, basking in the hot bliss of her bare vagina. Holy fuck, she was seriously tight. And she seemed to tower over him. It was strange, as he was used to being ridden by Evie at this point, and Vanessa, who was even taller, and yet even with just four inches of height on him, Ruby seemed to also tower over him kind of like they did. He supposed perspective was sometimes a very in-the-moment kind of thing. She looked beautiful, though he didn’t quite feel that sense of connection he did with some of the women he took to bed. Well, you couldn’t connect with everyone.

As she finished getting him comfortably inside of her, Ruby reached down and grasped his hands. She held them between them, lacing their fingers, and began to ride him. Her breath began to come faster, and she closed her eyes, focusing on the pleasure, the physical sensations of their coupling. He did much the same, though he kept his eyes open, absolutely in love with the sight of her long, nude body as she rode him, her breasts bouncing in time with the rest of her, her hips and the way her thigh muscles shifted beneath her fur each time she pushed herself back up. And, best of all, the way his cock looked going into her raw pussy again and again.

Before long she let go of his hands and rested them on his chest, and his own hands slipped up her soft thighs to her firm hips, grasping them and pushing up into her. She began to ride him faster, moaning loudly, looking very sure of herself, very sexually charged. He had been fantasizing about this exact thing ever since he had first laid eyes on Ruby, and he was glad to find it was every bit as wonderful as he had hoped it would be. And then he slid one hand down, in between them, until his thumb found her clit.

She gasped. “Oh! That’s...oh wow,” she whispered as he began to rub it.

“I want to make you come again,” he replied, and started rubbing harder.

She let out a cry of bliss and he loved hearing it. That was another thing he had wanted desperately to experience: hearing her voice, which was normally so calm and subdued, yelling out in sexual bliss. It was a beautiful sound. She began to fuck him harder and faster, and soon switched to stirring his rock-hard cock around inside of her, getting herself off as he thumbed her clit, and within another minute of this he had a second orgasm going.

She reached up and grabbed his shoulders, digging in her fingertips as she began to come, and he groaned at that hot gush of sex juices coming out from around his dick. That fluttering of her inner muscles, the increased heat, the burst of extra pleasure as he thrust up into her orgasming pussy. About halfway through, he felt unexpected bursts of pain in his shoulders and he let out a cry of surprise. Ruby opened her eyes and then pulled her hands back.

“Sorry!” she panted, then moaned. “Sorry!”

“Oh my God, you clawed him!” Ellie said, laughing.

“I couldn’t...oh! Oh! Yes! I can’t help it!” she cried.

“It’s fine,” he moaned, still fucking her. “It’s fine, Ruby.”

She finished coming and relaxed slightly, then focused. “I’m sorry. We should stop and bandage them.”

“Not yet,” David replied. “Can I be on top now?”

“I...yes,” she said. “If you’re sure.”

“I’m sure.”

His shoulders hurting, and bleeding a little now, he and she switched places, and she ended up on her back with her legs spread and her knees raised, and he settled in between those wonderful, athletic thighs of hers and began humping her, driving his rigid cock into her sweet, sweet pussy with a renewed intensity.

Ruby let out a long cry of bliss as he fucked her, and the pleasure began to overwhelm him.

“Can I come in you?” he moaned.

“Yes,” she replied. “Yes you can, David.”

He started to orgasm into that perfect pussy of Ruby’s not much later, and groaned at the intense ecstasy that exploded inside of him. He began shooting his load into her, filling her up, pumping her full of his seed. Each burst of it that escaped him generated a fresh wave of absolute rapture, and it was still the best feeling in his world.

Coming inside of a woman for the first time, with no protection between them at all, was still the best physical thing he had ever felt.

When he was finished, he took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then carefully pulled out of her and sat on the edge of the bed.

For a moment, they both stayed like that, him sitting on the bed, her laying beside him, staring up at the ceiling.

“I’m sorry for hurting you,” Ruby said finally.

“I forgive you,” David replied. “I don’t mind. It was worth it. Ellie’s done it to me, and worse than that.”

“Yep,” Ellie replied, almost sounding proud of it.

“You aren’t angry?”

“No, not at all.”

“Okay. Good.” She paused, then looked at him directly. “That felt amazing. Was that a very good session for you?”

“Oh yes,” he replied immediately. Ellie got up and began rummaging through her backpack. “That was indeed amazing,” he agreed.

“Good. Would you be amenable to trying again sometime?”

“Extremely amenable.”

She smiled. “I’m glad. I would like that, too.”

“Okay, David, let’s get you patched up,” Ellie said, coming at him with some medical supplies. He just nodded and let her go to work on his shoulders.

“How long do you think we have?” David asked as he got his pants off. Or tried to, his belt was stuck.

“Ten minutes, maybe,” Lindsay replied as she pulled her shirt off. “Sorry.”

“That’s fine. I can work with that.”

She laughed and kicked her shoes away. “I haven’t done something like this in months.”

“Really?” he asked, and then grunted as he nearly fell over trying to get his pants off.

“Careful,” she said, grabbing him. She began to say something else, then hesitated as she realized how close their faces were, and instead she just stared into his eyes. Her own eyes, brown and sharp, seemed vivid and alive with nervous energy.

David kissed her. She kissed him back immediately, hugging him to her. And then they parted and hastily continued undressing.

“I’ve been too busy being a mother and a, as shitty as I am at it, leader,” she said. “Thankfully, now that we’re here, I don’t have to deal with that second one anymore.”

“Yeah but you’ve been here for like six weeks now,” David replied. He finally finished getting the rest of his clothes off and quickly began to wash up at the bucket she had in her room. Someday, he would like the showers in each cabin to work.

God, what he wouldn’t give for a hot shower.

“I know. I’ve been...recovering,” she replied. “And, honestly, I’m...difficult.”

“You don’t seem difficult.”

She snorted. “Then you haven’t been paying attention.”

She joined him at the washing bucket and he studied her as she cleaned up alongside him. Lindsay looked so different from when they’d first met at those trailers the last month, when he and Katya and Cait had stumbled upon her group and she’d stepped out, gun pointed at them. She’d since cut her dark brown hair. Now it was combed and relatively clean and she wore it in a short ponytail most of the time. Her skin was still pale, but it was clean and mostly free of the bruises and scrapes she’d had when she’d first arrived at Haven. She looked...healthier. Happier. And she’d settled nicely into the community.

She now shared one of the smaller cabins with her daughter, one of the cabins they’d since patched up after getting all those supplies, and she had proven herself to be an excellent hunter and guard, and she knew quite a bit about guns, so she was frequently the person people came to for repairs or maintenance or lessons.

They were all still having varying degrees of difficulty going to Jennifer, and she was having her own difficulty living among a group of people.

He studied her closer as he finished getting dried off. She had a nice body. She was trim and fit, with small, high breasts and athletic thighs. He’d been surprised to learn that she was nearly forty. She could have passed for a decade younger. Of course for him it was a pleasant surprise. He was finding that he really enjoyed the company of older women. She had several scars and when she noticed him looking at a patch of roughened skin on her inner right thigh, she sighed softly and shifted uncomfortably.

“What?” he asked.

“It’s ugly,” she muttered.

“Lindsay, it’s a scar. We all have scars. I don’t think it’s ugly,” he replied.

She rolled her eyes. “Your fucking supermodel wife doesn’t have any.”

“Cait has scars,” he said. “And she’s not my wife.”

Lindsay laughed. “I’ve seen the two of you together. She’s pregnant with your kid and you’re thrilled about it. She’s your wife. Doesn’t matter that there’s no rings or ceremony. So are the other two. The four of you are married. It’s obvious to anyone who hangs around for more than a week,” she replied.

“So what does that make you?” he asked, stepping up to her and settling his hands on her hips.

She shivered slightly. “Right now? A fling. If this happens more than once...a mistress? Your girlfriend? What’s Ashley to you? What’s Amanda?”

“I...never said I was sleeping with Amanda,” he replied awkwardly. That had kept going, and still was, but they hadn’t really been public about it.

“Oh come on, I’m not stupid.” She sighed suddenly. “Come on, we don’t have time. For now you can be the handsome young man with,” she reached down and gripped his cock, “the considerable cock and certainly a lot of enthusiasm, and I can be the mature slutty MILF in desperate need of a good, hard fuck. How does that sound?”

“Good to me,” he replied, and suddenly reached down and picked her up, literally sweeping her off her feet and into his arms.

“Oh! Fuck!” she cried in happy surprise. “You’re strong.”

“Getting there,” he replied, and walked over to her bed, then tossed her down onto it. She let out another cry of joyful surprise as she landed and bounced once. He climbed quickly onto the bed with her and dove right in, getting atop her and kissing her. She moaned and kissed him back, grabbing at him, pulling him closer to her.

David began to run his hands across her slim body, feeling her warm skin, her passion and need as she moved against him, slipping her tongue into his mouth, touching him everywhere. She felt wonderful. Lindsay had been slowly warming up to him ever since they’d finally finished gathering their resources and he’d settled very happily down into the role of community leader, the kind who was there almost every day. Although he left Haven usually at least once a day, it was rarely to go very far. Consequently, he was getting to know a lot of the residents a lot more. Lindsay had been a little cold and a little hostile for the first week, but he thought it was just from being fucked over so many times. That had changed.

Eventually she’d either believed or let herself believe that she was safe here and that this was a real community intent on helping her and her daughter, on keeping people fed and healthy and, if at all possible, happy. She had a grim sense of humor and often preferred to be alone, but as the weeks had gone on, she’d warmed up to several people. Including him. At first it had just been conversations, then he thought she might be hitting on him, and he responded in kind, because she was quite attractive. And then, finally, today, when he had been making his rounds and he’d come to see her at her cabin, she had invited him in and outright asked him for sex.

Although she was concerned her daughter, who was supposed to be spending time over at Ann’s place, (it was where most of the children ended up going nowadays, and she seemed happy in her role as den mother), might return unexpectedly.

And she really didn’t need to be walked in on doing this.

“Oh!” she moaned as his finger found her clit. “Fuck, I forgot how good it is to have someone else touch that...”

“Glad I could remind you,” David replied, and she resumed kissing him, moaning as he pleasured her, rubbing her clit slowly at first, but quickly picking up speed, knowing they didn’t have a whole lot of time to play with.

He managed to pleasure her for another minute or so before either her sexual impatience or paranoia got the best of her and she grabbed him and pulled him onto her. “In,” she said simply, staring up at him, her eyes wide, face flushed.

“Okay,” he replied.

She spit into her hand and reached down, then quickly rubbed his cock down and slipped it inside of her. David groaned as she accepted his length into her. She was extremely wet and the pleasure began a slow burn into him as he started making love to her.

“Oh fuck yes...” she moaned, bringing her legs up and spreading them wider. “Come on, give it to me. I like it rough, don’t hold back.”

“You asked for it,” he replied, and began thrusting deeper and harder into her.

“Yes!” she cried, then closed her mouth, moaning. “Fuck, I need to not-ah!-not be too loud...fuck!” she yelled.

“You may find that difficult,” he replied.

“Apparently!

He kissed her on the mouth and she grabbed him and held her slim body against his own. David tried not to let himself get too settled in. He’d had a lot of practice over the past few months, and although he still enjoyed quickies, he was finding that longer sessions could be really nice, and he had trained himself on how to last longer. Which wasn’t easy, given who he tended to share his bed with. Although with Lindsay, it wasn’t too hard to let himself get swept up in the pleasure. Just the fact that she was noticeably older than him, and the fact that they had never made love before right now, both worked to hasten his own orgasm.

Not yet, though. Not before he got her off.

Although from the way she was reacting to this, the desperate, demanding way in which she grabbed at him, kissed him, forcing him deeper into her, he imagined that it wouldn’t be all that difficult. She was so wet inside and so clearly turned on. He kept pounding her, driving into her again and again, letting that hot, raw pleasure of fucking bare vagina eat into him, magnified by the fact that he knew they might be overheard and they were working against a time limit, and before long he found himself faced with the opposite problem: he was getting ready to start letting off inside of her and she still hadn’t come yet.

He reached down between them and began rubbing her clit again with his thumb, and she slapped a hand over her mouth and cried out.

“You like that, you little fuck toy?” he asked.

“Yes! Yes!” she screamed behind her hand.

He grinned savagely and kept stroking into her while vigorously rubbing her clit, and within another ten seconds he had achieved the desired result. She let out a loud scream, bringing her other hand over her mouth as well, twisting and writhing in pure ecstasy, and he groaned as a solid wave of hot, wet pleasure slammed into him as she started coming on his dick. David began fucking her harder, pumping his cock into her orgasming pussy again and again, and before long his own orgasm blasted into being and they were coming together.

It was like a perfect paradise.

The orgasm was short-lived, but intense, and when he was finished, he laid against her, both of them panting and sweaty.

“So, um, how was that?” David asked after a moment.

“Very, very good,” she replied. “I can see why you’re so popular.”

“There are worse reasons to be popular,” he replied with a bashful chuckle, then he pulled out of her and got to his feet. He stretched and popped his neck, then moved back over to the washbasin and began cleaning up.

That was the problem with being a community leader: you rarely had time to spare for anything, even the very fun stuff.

But he was lucky to have gotten to do this at all, he knew.

“Going already?” she murmured.

He glanced back at her. She was sprawled out on her bed, a vision of flushed, nude beauty, a sedate, satisfied smile on her face.

“I’m sorry, Lindsay, but I do have things to do. Believe me, I’d love to stay around for another round,” he replied.

She laughed softly. “I know, I’m just teasing. You work very hard, David, and I appreciate that. We all do, or at least I hope so.”

“Well, I’ve had a lot of help,” he replied. He finished washing, dried off, and began to dress.

“Yes. You’ve found such a nice group of people.” She sighed and stretched, then yawned. “God, I’m still tired. I keep hoping that I’ll catch enough sleep someday. But there’s always more to do, it seems.”

“I know how you feel,” he muttered. Something occurred to him. “Uh...I should’ve asked. Is it okay that I came in you?”

“What? Oh yeah,” she replied. “I got fixed after I had my daughter. Got lucky and found a doctor that could do it. And I don’t mind, it kind of makes it feel more...authentic, I think. I definitely prefer it to going all over my face.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” David replied.

“So...can this happen again? I will admit, I have a hard time making friends, a harder time still finding people I both trust enough to have sex with and am attracted to, and you are both of those things.”

“This can definitely happen again,” he replied.

She laughed. “Well, that’s good. So you’re really into me?”

“Hell yes, I am. You’re very attractive,” he replied, lacing his boots back up.

“I’ve always thought I was rather plain, even when I was younger and beauty came a bit more easily...”

“You’re a badass survivor MILF who looks great naked and fucks awesomely,” David replied. “I’m lucky to have had sex with you, and I’d be lucky to keep having sex with you.”

“You’re a gentlemen, aren’t you? I have to admit, I was surprised when I learned of your wives, and your side girls. I thought you were cute, but...now I’ve really begun to see why they’re all drawn to you.”

“I got lucky,” David replied. He stood up and pulled his backpack on again. “And I fell in love, and, well, I love sex, too, and so I work hard every day to maintain the relationships that luck gave me. I think that’s about as complicated as it is.”

“Maybe,” she murmured. “Well, come see me again sometime.”

“Oh, I will.” He walked over to her and gave her a kiss. “And if you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”

“I won’t,” she replied, smiling up at him.

With that, he headed back out of her cabin, back into the chilly morning air. As he closed her front door behind him and stepped back into the snow, he sighed softly. It would be so nice when winter finally passed. Going off of what he knew of previous winters, they had probably about a month of this crap left. Sometimes winter was shorter, sometimes longer, but they were probably through the worst of it by now.

Well, hopefully.

David ran through a checklist of his morning routine. He’d almost been done before Lindsay had snagged him. In fact, all that was left was visiting a few other cabins and then going on his morning walk around the exterior of the settlement. Then he would get to work on the day’s tasks. As he continued, David thought back to the past.

It had been about six weeks since he and the others had come back from their assault on the island. After a few days of rest and recovery, David had been very happy to see that his prediction of things settling into a pleasantly boring routine had been accurate. Except for the occasional stalker attack on the settlement, things at Haven had been peaceful. Although he had to admit there was a part of him that had actually grown to like, perhaps in a twisted sort of way, the rush and thrill of combat and throwing himself into really dangerous situations, for the most part he was happy with how his life had settled down.

The hydroponic garden was up and running, thanks to Jennifer’s hard work, and two of their early dwellers, Chloe and Lena, had actually moved into the cabin holding the gear, as it turned out Lena was very good with plants and had some knowledge of running a hydroponic garden. Their food and water and chopped firewood stores were pretty consistent after enjoying a lot of growth for the first few weeks. Working with some of the more knowledgeable in the group, they had set up rabbit snares and fish traps in the woods and the river, and those provided some nice meat and furs, as did the hunting party that tracked game in the woods surrounding them.

It had been a little rough at first, letting everyone recover and then figuring out who was most suited doing what, but ultimately, largely thanks to Evie’s skill at making schedules and keeping a lot of different stuff straight in her head, Haven was running smoothly.

David was amazed.

And scared.

How long would it be before something else went wrong? Because he felt like they were one disaster away from collapse. He thought that they’d have a better chance of surviving something than River View had, but...still, he knew how precarious their place in the world was. And he was fighting every day to strengthen their position, to ready them for it if and when it happened. And he had so much more to lose now.

Even as he thought that, as he finished up checking on the occupants of the last cabin and then made his way towards the front gate, he saw a familiar redhead waiting for him. Cait was leaning against one of the big wooden posts that made up part of the front gate, smirking at him with her arms crossed.

“What?” he asked as he walked over to her.

“I saw you going into Lindsay’s cabin,” she replied. “And you’ve got that smile. That ‘I got fucked’ smile.”

He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. “Is it that obvious?”

“Yeah. To me anyway. And it was obviously going to happen. Lindsay’s been eyeing you for weeks now. She was just too shy to make the move. I’m glad she finally pounced on you. Was it a good session?” she asked.

“Yeah. She’s...enthusiastic,” he replied, then cleared his throat. “How are you?”

“I’m good,” she said. “I’ve started having to piss like all the time, and, well, you know about my fucking night sweats.”

“Yeah, I’m sorry babe,” he replied.

She laughed. “It’s okay. I’d say it isn’t your fault, even though it kind of is. I had heartburn yesterday, too. I’ve been checking in with April and she says it’s all normal. She told me some of the other glorious shit I may have to look forward to.”

“Like what?” he asked as they started walking around the outside.

“Ugh. Bloating, acne outbreak, leg cramps, vomiting, sore tits, congestion, and some other stuff that I don’t really want to bring up ‘cause it’s gross. Mainly I’m not looking forward to the vomiting,” she replied. “And I’ve finally started noticing that I’m getting hornier.”

“Me too,” he murmured.

She laughed. “Yeah, I guess you’d notice it. I just...really want your fucking dick more than usual recently. Like a lot.”

“That’s a good thing for me,” he replied. “Lindsay said something interesting.”

“What’s that?”

“She said you’re my wife.”

“Huh...I mean, yeah, basically.” She smirked. “How do you feel about that?”

“Honestly, fucking fantastic. I didn’t ever really think I’d find anyone who wanted to marry me, or that I’d want to marry, or that it would work out. I thought there’d be more...ceremony to it, you know? Rings and stuff like that...”

“There doesn’t have to be. Marriage isn’t the same as it used to be, from what I understand.” She paused. “Do you want rings?”

“I don’t know. She also said that Evie’s my wife, too, and so is April. She posited that we’re all married to each other,” he replied.

“We are,” she said. “That’s how I see it, anyway. We’re committed to each other, we love each other, we intend to stay together and build a life together and have a child together. If that isn’t marriage, I don’t know what is.”

“I like it,” he said. “A lot. I think-”

They both froze as gunshots sounded. They were close. David looked around. They were on the east side of Haven now, the direction the farms and what remained of River View lay. Someone was firing off a pistol, just one from what he could tell. Someone by themselves? Someone from the farm maybe? Or a lone traveler?

“Come on,” he said, and took off.

Cait was right beside him. They hurried towards the forest and slipped into the treeline. He heard the telltale shrieks of stalkers, more gunfire, someone–a woman–shouting. The voice seemed almost familiar, but he couldn’t place it. They kept going, keeping an eye out for other stalkers or undead, following the sound of the fighting and the flashes of gunfire. Right before David was about to shout out a warning, he heard a scream of pain, a bad one, more gunfire, and then suddenly nothing. They kept going, running the rest of the way, and skidded to a halt as they began coming across stalkers. David frowned as he saw them.

There seemed to be more than ever nowadays.

He and Cait split up, checking the immediate area. Whoever they were, they had to be around here somewhere.

“Hello?” he called.

No response, nothing at all but the wind. He shifted through the nearest trees and suddenly became aware of breathing. Turning left, David spotted a figure laying on the snowy ground. “Cait!” he called, and hurried forward.

They looked familiar. Very familiar.

David stepped up to the woman laid out on the ground, facing away from him. She seemed unconscious, and definitely injured.

He heard Cait come jogging up.

It looked like...but it couldn’t be.

David gingerly rolled her over onto her back and heard Cait gasp.

It could be. It was-

“Ellie!?”

Haven 4 - Prologue Preview!

Here is the Prologue of Haven 4. I’m making good progress on the story. Right now, I’d say I’m on approach to being 2/3 of the way done, and I’m on track to release it sometime before the end of the month.

If you want to also read Chapter One, you can do so here, on my Patreon, if you are a 1$/month Patron.

Thanks!

David couldn’t remember the last time he had been so thoroughly at a loss for words.

He stared at Cait, his mouth open slightly, her words ringing in his head. For once, he wasn’t falling silent because he wasn’t sure which words to choose, sorting through one phrase after another. No, this time, nothing came. His mind felt blank.

All around him, no one spoke, all eyes on the two of them.

Finally, after what felt like a very long time, he said, “Are you sure?”

Cait laughed, and so did several of the other women. “Yes, David. I’m sure.”

“That you’re pregnant?” he asked, still grappling with the knowledge that had just been presented to him.

She laughed again and gave his hands a gentle squeeze. “Yes, David. That’s what my trip to the doctors was about. And just to save you the trouble of asking, yes I’m sure it’s yours. You’re the only human man I’ve been with in a good six months.”

“When...did it happen?” he murmured.

“Ironically,” she said, smirking, “the very first night we met. Remember? I begged you to get me pregnant, and apparently you obliged.”

“Holy shit,” he whispered. “I’m...you’re going to be a mother?” She nodded. “And I’m...going to be a father?” She nodded again. “...holy shit. I need...wow. This is...very unexpected.”

That got more laughter.

David seemed to remember suddenly that he was in a roomful of people and he looked around at all of them. Evelyn and April and Lara were standing together. April looked a little nervous, but generally happy. Evelyn and Lara were practically beaming. As was Ashley. Jennifer had a small smile on her face. And Ellie…

He frowned. Ellie looked like she was going to be sick.

Ellie was staring at him and Cait like someone had just told her they had died.

Before he could say anything else, she suddenly set down the cup she was holding and began striding rapidly across the room, towards the stairwell.

“Ellie? Where are you going?” Cait asked, letting go of his hands. She apparently didn’t hear her because she just kept walking. “Ellie?” Cait asked, more loudly.

Ellie froze at the bottom of the stairs. She turned to face them and said, “Congratulations.” Then she all but sprinted up the stairs.

“What the fuck?” David whispered.

“I don’t know,” Cait said, and took off after her.

He followed in her wake. The two of them hurried up the stairs. Getting up top, they looked down the length of the hallway and saw the door to Cait’s and Ellie’s shared bedroom open. She was moving around inside, barely visible in the moonlight coming in through the window. They hurried down the hallway.

“Ellie, what are you doing?” Cait asked as they came to stand in the doorway.

She was shoving things into her pack.

“I-I need to go,” she said. She looked on the verge of panic.

“Ellie, what’s wrong?” Cait demanded, stepping forward. She reached out to touch her, then stopped short, hesitated, and pulled her hand back.

“I just need to go,” Ellie repeated. She zipped up her pack and threw it on.

“Ellie, wait! Talk to me, please! What’s wrong?” Cait asked.

Ellie finally turned to look at them. “I’m sorry. I know this is unexpected, but I have to leave. I just-I need to be by myself for awhile. I’m sorry.” She walked stiffly to the window, opened it, and then looked back at them. “Don’t try to look for me, and don’t expect me back.”

“For how long?!” David asked.

“I don’t know.” She paused one more time, looking back at them with a look of remorse, regret, and anguish. “I’m sorry,” she repeated, and then she slipped nimbly out the window. They both hurried over to it and looked out, watching her hit the ground and slip off to the perimeter fence, where she slid easily through a gap in it.

And then she was disappearing into the frozen forest, and she was gone.

“What the fuck just happened?” David whispered.

“I have an idea,” Cait replied. She sighed softly, her breath foaming on the chilled air that streamed in through the window. He looked over at her. She looked ghostly and painfully beautiful in the pale moonlight, but also very sad. She shivered and then closed and locked the window. “Ellie...” She paused, then sat down on her bed. David sat down beside her, waiting. “A lot happened to her. She told me things that I won’t repeat, but bad things happened to her. And it broke her. And I think...I’m not sure, really, but I think my announcement scared the shit out of her. Maybe she thought she was losing me, and she couldn’t handle that.”

She heaved a sigh suddenly and looked at him. “We’ll deal with that soon, but right now...tell me. Tell me what you’re thinking about...” She looked down and laid a hand carefully over her stomach. “...about this.”

“I-I don’t know,” he admitted. “I’m worried. If I’m being honest. I-I didn’t expect this! I didn’t even think it was possible!”

“I know,” she said, a small smile on her face. “I wasn’t sure whether or not I could even get pregnant, and I remember you saying you were pretty sure you couldn’t get a girl pregnant. Obviously that isn’t true.” She hesitated. “Do you believe me? That it’s yours?”

“Oh yes,” he replied immediately. “I believe you. I don’t think you would lie to me about that. I’m just...this is a lot. Especially after all that happened tonight.”

“I know. I’m sorry to just throw it out there like that, but I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I needed you to know. But there’s more I need you to know, David.” She gently placed a finger under his chin and raised his face so that they locked eyes. “If you don’t want to be a part of this child’s life, then I won’t hold that against you. You were not ready for this, you didn’t ask for this. I understand that. I’ve already come to terms with this: I want to be a mother. I think I’ve always wanted that, but I just never truly thought about it until I got the news. But this wasn’t...expected. I’m not going to try and force this responsibility on you, because this is going to alter the course of my life, and yours, if you decide you want to be a part of this child’s life.”

David thought about it, staring at her. There were so many things to consider, so many difficulties with raising a child even under the best of circumstances, let alone the post-apocalyptic nightmare they now found themselves in.

And yet, could he ask for a better mother for his child? Cait was...so many things. Smart, kind, compassionate, brave, fun, dedicated, loving. But he didn’t doubt for a second that she wanted to raise a child, looking at her in the moonlight. There was no turmoil there, no uncertainty. Just a peace, a tranquility in her eyes, an acceptance, a happy acceptance.

In that moment, David suddenly had his answer. He didn’t know why he had arrived at the conclusion he had, especially knowing there was so much to consider, but wasn’t that how it went sometimes? Hell, maybe even most of the time? People usually went with their gut. A lot of people said they wanted to reason things out, make informed decisions, and while he still believed in that, he believed, especially right now, that sometimes the decision got made for you. Like love. He hadn’t decided that he was going to start falling in love with Cait, or Evelyn, or April, and yet he was. He could tell he was.

In the same way, he knew that how he felt about becoming a father wasn’t a decision, not really, not in this case, at least. Regardless of his own actions, Cait was pregnant with his child. And he knew in some immutable way that he wanted to be her partner, wanted to raise the child with her, wanted to be a father.

All that came out of his mouth was: “Yes.”

As if she could read his mind, she immediately hugged him tightly against her. “Thank you,” she whispered. She held him to her. “You’re going to be a wonderful father, David. I haven’t met anyone else in my life that I wish had gotten me pregnant.”

“Oh, well I’m glad,” he replied.

She laughed loudly and pulled back. She sniffed and wiped at her eyes. He blinked a few times and realized, abruptly, that he had a few tears of his own.

“Emotional times,” Cait muttered, wiping at her eyes.

“I guess so,” he said, doing the same. Something abruptly occurred to him. “Oh shit!” he said, shooting to his feet.

“What? What’s wrong?” Cait asked.

“I fucked Ashley and Lara! What if they’re-”

“Oh! David, no. Don’t worry,” she said, reaching out. She took his hand and he let her pull him gently back down onto the bed. “I already talked with them about it. That’s why I asked you about your sexual partners. Do you honestly think I’d have let you fuck Lara tonight if she wasn’t fixed? No, don’t worry. They have both confirmed that, without a doubt, they can’t get pregnant. So don’t worry, I’m the only one you’ve knocked up.”

“Oh...okay then. Good.”

He kissed her, then he looked back through the door. “Shit, we shouldn’t keep the others in suspense.”

“Oh right. Fuck.” She sighed heavily and looked out the window again. “Goddamnit, Ellie,” she whispered.

“What are we going to do?” he asked.

“Let her be,” Cait replied. “I might be able to find her, if I tried hard, but I doubt it. And she doesn’t want to be found. She needs time. And...” she looked regretful, “...and we might need to be prepared to never see her again.”

“What? Seriously?!”

“Yes. I don’t know if it’s likely, but I think...I just don’t know if she can handle this. Obviously she can’t right now, given that she just jumped out a window. But regardless, we have to let her be. We have to let her work this out on her own.”

He looked out the window, a cold, heavy weight of loss and remorse settling on his heart, as if this was somehow his fault.

Hell, in a way, he supposed it kind of was.

“I’ll miss her,” he said softly.

“I know. I will, too. We just have to hope that she gets it sorted out, and that she comes back to us.” Cait stood suddenly. “Come on.”

He stood with her and they made their way downstairs, where they found the others talking quietly among themselves.

“What happened?” Evelyn asked.

Cait sighed heavily. “Ellie...needs to be alone for a little while. I’m not sure when she’ll be back. Officially speaking: we should not be relying on her help until she returns.”

“Oh my God,” April whispered. “Is she...okay?”

“I don’t know,” Cait admitted.

“I know it’s really nosy and probably rude to ask but...I mean, how do you feel about this?” Lara asked suddenly, looking at David.

He stepped closer to Cait, slipped one arm around her torso, and laid his other hand against her belly. “We’re having a child,” he said.

That got a great reaction out of everyone. For a few moments, as everyone came closer and began to congratulate them and hug and kiss both of them, the weight of the events that had transpired tonight, from the incredibly risky assault to the near death experiences to Ellie up and leaving, seemed to fall away. He lost himself in the moment and as he looked around at the others, standing together in this warm building in the middle of the night, knowing that there were others in cabins very close by, it gave him a feeling of tremendous, overwhelming joy and comfort, something that he wasn’t sure he had ever actually felt before.

This felt like…

A home.

It felt like a haven that he could rest in, hide from the world in, build a life in.

As he looked at Evelyn and April, though, a new feeling came to him, and he knew that they were going to have to talk about this sudden development, because it would likely have serious impacts on their lives, too.

“We should probably, uh, talk,” he said, looking at them both.

Evelyn just smiled. “Tomorrow,” she said. “You two need sleep. You look like death warmed over. We all need sleep, actually, because we’ve got a shitload of work ahead of us tomorrow and the day after that. You two, I imagine, will want to get some intimate time together. So...sleeping arrangements. April, will you be willing to sleep with me and give up your bed for the night?”

“Yes,” she said.

“Okay. Lara, how about you take her bed?” Evelyn suggested.

“I appreciate it,” Lara replied.

“Okay. Jennifer...” She frowned, no doubt considering it. They actually didn’t have much in the way of accommodations.

“I saw a couch in the main room, I can sleep there,” Jennifer said.

“Are you sure?” Evelyn asked.

“Yes. As a wraith, I don’t even actually need to sleep per say, though I wouldn’t mind in this case. But I can sleep on the floor, this will be fine,” Jennifer replied.

“Okay. I’ll get you a pillow and a blanket. Get some sleep everyone. We’re going to want to get to that outpost as soon as we can tomorrow,” Evelyn said.

David sighed. “Yeah, good point.”

“I guess that means I gotta go home and sleep in my own bed?” Ashley asked.

“You can sleep in mine,” Evelyn replied.

Yes,” she whispered, making Evelyn laugh.

David went around and gave each woman a hug and a kiss, and told them all goodnight. Lara lingered on the kiss. “I had a lot of fun,” she said. “A lot of fun.”

“So did I. You are great in bed, and an amazingly sexy and beautiful woman,” he replied.

She smiled and blushed. “Shut up.”

“I’m not lying.”

She looked like she was trying not to smile, but she just shook her head. “I believe that you believe it, at least.”

“You’re definitely hot,” Cait said, coming up next to him.

She sighed. “Okay, whatever. Just show me to my bed.” Her expression turned glum. “As much as I’d love to stick around and help out, I really need to get back home after this.”

“I understand, I’ll miss you, though,” David replied.

“I’ll miss you, too. Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll visit.”

April led her off upstairs after that, showing her to her room, and Evelyn tracked down some bedding for Jennifer, setting her up on the couch. After making sure that the area was secure, the doors locked and the windows shut, David and Cait went upstairs to her bedroom. They pushed the door most of the way closed, then began undressing.

“So, Lara was a good fuck then?” Cait asked.

“A great fuck,” he replied. “Her thighs...damn. So sexy. Not as sexy as yours though.”

She laughed. “You don’t need to reassure me. I’m not that kind of girl. Speaking of my thighs though...you know my ass is going to probably get really fat, and my hips and thighs are going to thicken up, and my tits are gonna get huge, right?”

“They already are,” he muttered, but he couldn’t help but think about what Cait would look like pregnant. Like, noticeably pregnant.

He’d seen pregnant women before, and they never failed to turn him on so hard.

“My belly’s gonna grow a lot, too. I’m gonna get stretch marks,” she said.

“I don’t care. You’re going to look so hot pregnant, and you’ll still be wicked hot after.”

She smiled. “You’re a sweetheart.” As she finished stripping, she stepped up to him and settled her hands on his back. “There’s also a decent chance that I will be super horny. Like, more so than I am right now on average. So you’re going to need to fuck me even more than you do now,” she said with a sultry smile.

“I think I can manage that,” he replied, and she laughed, then she kissed him.

It was in that moment that her lips met his that he realized something had changed. He wasn’t sure if it was that he had done the most decisive thing of his life in helping plan for, enact, and execute that strike on the thieves, the fact that he had risked his life, or the fact that he knew he was to be a father. Possibly, probably even, it was all three, but he thought it was that third one most of all. Something had changed between them, and for the better. From the way her eyes widened slightly and how she pressed herself more closely against him, David could tell that something had changed for Cait, too.

He held her, leaning her back slightly and deepening the kiss, and she moaned. They began to make out with an intense passion, running their hands across each other. Her skin felt so hot against his in the pale moonlight, as if it was a physical manifestation of her passion, her lust, her desire. David pushed her onto her back and she landed with an easy grace in the bed, opening her legs smoothly for him, smiling up at him, her face illuminated by the moonlight. She looked achingly beautiful, impossibly gorgeous in that ghostly light, and he immediately climbed onto her, needing to be inside of her.

Normally their sessions were longer, and foreplay was very standard between them, but sometimes it was like this, where they simply needed to be making love. He needed to be inside of her as much as she needed him to be inside of her. And he could see her practically glistening, she was so wet. Before he could even get into position, she reached down between them, gripped his cock, and slipped it inside of herself.

Ohhhh, David...” she gasped, her voice thick with emotion and love and lost.

“Cait,” he moaned as he penetrated her, “oh, Cait. Oh my fucking...oh Cait!

He pushed deep into her, and she immediately wrapped her legs around his waist. He began to make desperate, impassioned love to her and she stared up at him with wide, unblinking blue eyes that seemed to glow from within. He had never quite seen this expression on her face before, or maybe it was just the intensity of it. David was sure that he had a similar expression. He began to thrust wildly into her and she moaned loudly, pulling him down, and they resumed kissing. The pleasure ate him alive. He boiled in it, was melted by it, and loved every second of its consumption of him. Cait felt like a living goddess of sex and lust and beauty as he made increasingly frantic love to her, driving furiously into her now.

The sounds she made…

Neither of them lasted long. It was a short but ferocious session. Cait began to orgasm in under a minute, and she screamed into the kiss, unwilling or maybe even unable to break it, to release him, and he moaned loudly as he felt her insides clench hard around him, felt that hot release of sex juices. And he moaned, and lost himself completely, and began to orgasm barely five seconds after she had begun to. He pumped her sweet, perfect pussy full of his seed, immediately releasing a hot spurt that surged into her, and then another, and another, draining himself into her, filling her up. She moaned louder, accepting it all, almost begging for it with her body.

They came together, and for some brief but seemingly timeless moment, became lost together, entangled within each other, bathed in pure ecstasy.

When they had finished, he laid on top of her and didn’t pull out for a long time.

There was so much to say, but as the minutes drifted by in the moonlit comfort of her room, they remained locked inside of his head, and no doubt in hers as well. Not forever, but for now. He almost fell asleep before he spoke. Almost, but not quite.

“Cait?” he asked softly.

“Yes?” she murmured, slowly running one hand up and down his bare back.

“It’s different now, isn’t it?”

“Yes, David. It is.”

“And not just because you’re pregnant.”

“No.”

“We need to get more serious, don’t we?”

“Yes, we do.”

He almost didn’t say the thing that wanted to escape his lips. Almost. But then, in the quiet of their shared space, he whispered, “Cait?”

“Yes, David?”

“...I love you.”

They weren’t looking at each other, not exactly. He had his head on the pillow, facing her, and she was laying on her back, staring out the window, so he could only see a portion of her beautiful, pale face.

But he saw her smile. “I know. I love you too, David.”

And he hugged her tightly to him, and she hugged him back. He pulled out of her and laid on his side. They embraced once more, facing each other.

That was how they fell asleep.

Demoness V - Chapter I Preview

Hey, everyone! I figured it was finally time to give a preview of Demoness V. It’s still a little ways off, as I’m very busy with the Haven series and stuff from the real world keeps getting in the way and eating up my time.

As usual, you can find both this chapter and the second chapter of this story over on my Patreon if you are a 1$/month Patron.

Enjoy!

John Greenfield lay soaking wet and half-dead on a rocky shore.

He came to coughing violently, a thousand pains wracking his battered, abused body, and he turned on his side and vomited. A stream of foul-tasting seawater was jetted from his mouth onto the rocky beach he lay upon and mixed with the rain and swell of water from the waves lashing at him, as though the sea itself held a grudge against him. He coughed, terror and panic surging through his body, filling every fiber of his being as he desperately sought to figure out what was happening. Then he coughed raggedly and vomited again.

When the last of the seawater had escaped him, he groaned thickly and sat up. Shivering violently, he hugged himself and looked around, his head swinging in a slow arc from left to right. Ahead, all he could see was the dark eternity of the ocean, and the waves pounding the shore. To either direction, more beach, shrouded in a rainy darkness. A heavy wave came up and washed over him, nearly dragging him back into the ocean. John cried out and lurched to his feet in a surge of panic, then stumbled away from the water, from the most immediate threat. He still had his boots, he realized, looking down.

His clothes too, although they were ragged and wet and torn in many places.

Where was he?!

What had happened?!

Shivering even more harshly, he rubbed his arms furiously, trying to bring some warmth back to his slowly numbing body. Think, dammit! He could see no lights around, no fires, not even any structures. Opposite the ocean, he saw a dark treeline. Overhead, lightning forked the sky and thunder cracked, rumbling so powerfully it rattled his bones. He cried out in a pure, primal reflex of fear. Boat. He had been on a boat.

He’d been going somewhere, and the last thing he remembered was-

Lightning struck again, and this time it was as if it had struck his skull, his mind itself, which lit up like a beacon in the night as a realization hit him.

John sucked in a deep breath and screamed as loud as he could, “YELENA!!!

Only the thunder and the pounding of the waves answered him. He looked around frantically, taking a few steps left, hesitating, then a few steps right. He stumbled as some rocks went out from beneath him and went painfully to his knees. He cried out, then moaned in sick fear. He felt shaky and raw with panic.

Whatever he’d been doing, wherever he was now, none of it mattered, because he was alone. Because he didn’t know where she was.

He shot to his feet and again screamed at the top of his lungs. “YELENA!!!

Still nothing. John spent another few minutes looking around frantically, his mind half-fried, running on instinct and emotion as he desperately sought the woman he loved, the person who mattered the most to him in this world or any other, the demoness he would die for, he would do anything for. But he couldn’t see her.

He was alone.

“Please,” he moaned, hugging himself tightly. “Oh please don’t be gone. Please...”

He looked up as the lightning flared again and through the curtain of rain that fell, spied a simple structure not too far away. Like a ship dropping anchor in treacherous waters, that gave him something to hold onto. Seeing that structure awoke in him a very basic, very primal urge: to be inside, out of the cold and the dark and the rain. And that simple urge anchored him, brought him back down a few levels, and some of his panic bled off. He had to find Yelena, but first he had to get his bearings, check himself over.

Surely, he was wounded. He couldn’t tell because what parts of him weren’t numb from the cold all hurt in overlapping waves of miserable suffering. Groaning and shuddering, teeth chattering, he set off, marching towards the simple structure. It looked like little more than a shack. Probably a fisherman’s shack, he thought, given how close he was to the ocean. Although it was maybe a hundred feet away, it seemed to take ages to get there. He kept looking around, hoping to see that familiar form, praying to see Yelena coming towards him. He would give anything to see her just then. But he saw nothing.

John reached the shack. It had a door and it was partially open. He pushed his way in through it. The single-room building looked long abandoned. Already, as he stepped inside, his mind was telling him to do things. Light a fire. Find some dry clothes. Find a weapon. Make sure the building was secure-

He hadn’t made sure it was secure.

Right as he thought that, something leaped at him with a growl and crashed into him. He screamed, new primal urges taking over as a wiry figure covered in wet fur got atop him. He struggled, fought, bucked hard enough to throw the figure off of him. What was attacking him!? He got atop the figure. A hand came up and he screamed as claws raked his cheek. He grabbed the hand by the wrist and forced it back down, then did the same with the second hand. He was stronger than whoever it was, at least.

Lightning flashed again, and in that instant he saw a felis woman staring up at him, her eyes wide and wild with fury and fear. He hesitated. She looked...familiar.

“Who are you?” he asked.

“Get off me!” she snapped.

“Are you going to stop fucking attacking me?!” John snapped back. “Because you struck first!”

She hesitated, a few seconds played out, and then he felt her relax slightly. “Yes. I’m sorry,” she replied.

Carefully, he released her wrists and then slowly got up off of her. John got to his feet and then offered her a hand when it seemed obvious that she wasn’t going to continue the fight. She looked at his hand for a moment, then took it and let him help her up. He shivered and looked around as he remembered how cold he was.

“We need to start a fire,” the felis murmured.

“I...” he hesitated, looked out through the door he’d come in through. “I need to go. There’s someone I have to find.” He took a step towards the exit.

“Wait,” the felis said, and he hesitated, looking back at her. “It’s too dangerous out there right now. It’s pouring rain in the middle of the night and we have no idea where we are or what could be out there. We’re injured and weak. We’re easy pickings for even a few wolves. We need to stay here, make a fire, get some rest.”

She sounded reasonable, and her voice, surprisingly calm as it was, instilled a sense of logic in him that began to calm his fractured and terrified mind. A part of him, a strong part of him, wanted to march out there in the rain and scream for Yelena for as long as it took. But another part of him reluctantly admitted that this woman was right, and he wouldn’t do any good to Yelena if he got himself killed out there.

And fuck, at this point, he realized, if he had managed to survive, then certainly she had, because she was far more capable than he was.

“Yeah,” he said finally, “you’re right.”

He looked around the little shack. It was a miserable place to spend the night, but it at least had a bed and the roof wasn’t leaking too bad. It still had its windows, too, and they were mostly intact. He looked down at a little brazier in the middle of the room. It was full of ashes.

“We’ll need wood,” he said. “And it’ll be hard to find dry wood around here...”

“I know some magic,” the woman said, “if we can find wood, I can dry it and burn it.” She looked out through the front door and sighed. He knew how she felt, he sure wasn’t relishing the thought of going back out there. “We should get this over with. And stick together.”

“Yeah,” he agreed, then hesitated. “I’m John.”

“Layla,” she said.

“Were you on the ship?” he asked as they headed back outside. The rain seemed to have slackened, though only a little. Maybe it was his imagination.

“Yes. I saw you around with a woman...a redhead elf...is that who you’re looking for?”

“Yelena. Yeah,” he replied.

She began to say something else, but a flash of lightning and boom of thunder cut her off. He waited to see if she’d keep talking, but instead she just pointed. He followed her finger and saw some driftwood not too far away. He went for it, shivering worse than ever now. Now that he had the goal of building a fire, he found himself desperate for one and colder than ever. He reached down and grabbed the piece of driftwood, then looked around and spied another one a few feet away. He stumbled over and grabbed it.

The act of gathering wood to burn helped bring his body and his mind back to him. Everything was feeling distant and numb, but it was slowly coming back. Still though, a confusion seemed to lay over him, almost like he was waking up in the middle of the night while drunk, trying to figure out where he was and what was going on. He glanced over his shoulder at Layla, who was gathering up wood as well. At least he wasn’t alone. But...he looked all around himself once again. Where was Yelena?

He couldn’t shake the terrifying thought that something had happened to her, that she was injured or...dead. It was possible. No, he thought angrily, vehemently. No, she’s fine. Maybe not fine, apparently there’d been a shipwreck, but she was a survivor more than anything. She would survive, and he’d find her tomorrow, as soon as he woke up. He still wanted to go looking for her, but knew that it was a bad idea. Everything hurt or was numb, and he was dizzy and confused. John saw another piece of wood and grabbed it, making eight. His arms were getting full and, after a few seconds, he decided he’d found enough.

Turning around, he hurried back to the shack, where Layla was waiting in the doorway, watching out for him. He tried to remember what he’d observed about her, because he had seen her on the ship, but he couldn’t remember a thing. He rejoined her and they both headed inside. John dumped his wood in the brazier, then moved back over to the door and closed it, then locked it as firmly as he could. Then he moved over to the nearest window and saw about securing it some more. As he pulled the tattered curtains into place a bit more firmly, he felt a wave of wonderfully comforting warmth at his back. He turned around.

Layla was releasing renewing waves of white magic over the collection of wood he’d dumped in the brazier. Well, at least she seemed pretty competent. Just based on the little he’d encountered while fighting her, he thought that if they were to fight again, she’d give him a real run for his coin. He was definitely stronger than her, but strength wasn’t everything. She was quick. She glanced up as she finished drying the wood.

“Are you injured?” she asked.

“I don’t think so, not seriously,” he murmured, looking down at himself. His clothing was ripped and soaked.

“Why didn’t you use your weapon, during our skirmish?” she asked.

He looked down again and blinked in surprise. His sword, his midnight black blade, was still in its scabbard on his hip. “I didn’t even realize I still had it with me.”

“Lucky for me,” she replied. “You’re...very strong,” she murmured. He looked back up at her. She was staring at the wood before her, focusing on it really. It sounded like it pained her to admit that. Well, that made sense. She was clearly pretty fierce, no doubt an adventurer like him. Everything about her was a testament to the notion. In some ways, she reminded him of Bianca. He wondered, suddenly, what the demon-hunting felis was up to nowadays.

“It almost didn’t save me. You’re extremely fast,” he replied, continuing his job of securing the windows as much as he could.

His cheek still hurt, and bled slightly.

“I’ve spent a long time honing myself,” Layla murmured.

“I know the feeling,” John replied.

As he finished securing another window, there was an orange-yellow burst of light. He looked back at her. She stood before the brazier now, warming her hands. He studied her. She was in incredible shape, her form thin and lithe and athletic. She wore very little, really just a small shirt to cover her breasts, (which, he saw as he walked over to the final window and got a view of her front side, were very, very obvious in the soaking wet fabric), and a loose skirt that did little more than cover her ass and crotch. He imagined she wore it for a maximum range of motion, relying on speed rather than armor.

He felt an unexpectedly powerful burst of lust slam into him as he stared at her lithe form. Gods, she was in great shape, and she was so attractive. Her fur was a beautifully patterned orange and yellow.

His heart leaped as she looked at him suddenly. Her slit-pupil yellow eyes caught the fire, reflecting it. “Are we secure?” she asked.

“As secure as we’re going to get,” he replied, finishing with the final window and then moving over to the fire.

“I know a few basic alarm spells. I’ll set them by the windows and the door. If anything tries to get in, we’ll at least know about it,” she replied, and moved away from the fire. While she worked her magic and he warmed himself, (which he was partially regretting, as all of his body parts which had grown numb were now becoming warm again, and bringing with them new waves of pain), he looked around the cabin. There was hardly anything to work with. A broken desk, a dresser missing several drawers, a smashed table, a chair that looked so old and weathered that it likely wouldn’t support even an elf, and, interestingly, a bed that was pretty much intact. He’d slept in worse, he figured, studying it. Though if they intended to share it, it would be a tight fit…

He looked at her again.

Layla was facing away from him, and he could see the swell of her well-maintained, firm ass pushing against the skirt she wore, which was also soaking wet and clung to her body. Again, he felt a shockingly powerful bolt of lust slam into him, and he found himself desiring her more than he had desired most for a long time. He fought to control himself. Now was hardly the time to fuck. And, Gods, Yelena was still out there, and he wanted to get to her so badly. But he couldn’t. He was stuck in this shack, aching all over, his head hurting worse than a hangover, with no supplies but his soaking wet clothes and his blade.

At least Layla knew magic.

Hopefully she knew healing magic. He was still working on learning more magic. This was one of those times where knowing more magic would be really fucking useful. John groaned quietly as it felt like his entire body throbbed, but even that couldn’t keep the intense lust from his mind. Maybe it was just a reaction to the sheer insanity of the situation, now that he was somewhere theoretically safe, and the worst of it had passed.

What had even fucking happened? He still couldn’t remember. Everything was a confused mess and he just wanted to sleep. Well, he just wanted to go find Yelena, but he couldn’t, so next on the list was just pass the fuck out and not have to be awake and deal with this shit for awhile.

“I can heal you,” Layla said. “Probably not everything, but I can do a decent job.”

“I’d appreciate it,” he murmured.

She went about the room laying her magical traps, and as she did, he felt a painful jab of fear and misery as he was reminded of Yelena doing the same whenever they slept in a dangerous place. Gods, what he wouldn’t give just to know she was okay!

As she finished up, Layla came over to stand by him before the fire.

“Think the smoke will be a problem?” he murmured.

“No, there’s enough holes in the roof that we’ll be fine,” she replied. “Here, hold still. I’m going to put my hands on you, okay?”

“Okay,” he replied.

She reached out and laid her hands on his chest. The contact made his heart flutter and his stomach churn with desire.

Technically, he could have sex with her, if she was open to it. He was in an open relationship…

Was it right? Would that piss Yelena off? He didn’t think so, he was really fucking stressed out, and sex was pretty much the number one thing that helped him relax.

All of his thoughts ceased as Layla released a wave of magic over him, and he was filled with a deeply comforting warmth. He felt the pain all over his body lessen, though not disappear, not completely. But it was a damn sight better than what it had been.

“There,” she said.

“Thank you, I really appreciate it,” he replied.

“We should work together,” she said, and then she took off her shirt, freeing her high, firm breasts. They bounced as they came out of her small shirt and this time the lust hit him so hard that he nearly lost his breath. “And we should dry our clothes by the fire,” she said, nodding to an old but serviceable laundry line that hung from the ceiling.

“Uh...y-yeah,” he replied, and took off his shirt. She hung her shirt up, then did the same with her skirt. Oh Gods, he could see her vagina and it looked so good. He wrung his shirt out on the floor and hung it up, then repeated the process with his pants, his undershorts, and his socks. He had to dump seawater from his boots. He hung up all his clothes and set his boots before the fire, and, after a moment’s consideration, set his blade on the floor, beside the bed. “I’m not, uh, sure what you want to do about sleeping arrangements...” he murmured, turning around to face her.

Layla stood in front of the fire, facing him, the fire back-lighting her and only adding to the fierce appearance she was presenting. She stared at him with wide, wild eyes, her tail lashing furiously behind her, and he felt caught in her gaze. There was no mistaking the lust in her eyes. He began to say something, but she practically leaped across the shack and shoved him back onto the bed. As her body touched his and they fell into the bed together, he reacted almost on instinct. His lust overtook him, overwhelmed his mind now that she had shown her utter willingness to fuck him. She got atop him and kissed him hard on the mouth, pushing her rough felis tongue in and desperately, almost furiously seeking his own.

He moved it forward and as soon as they touched, they twined and twisted together, and her taste flooded his mouth. He tasted her natural taste, mixed with smoke and seawater, and felt her damp, furry body pushing against his own. They both ran their hands over each other as they made out passionately. His hands found the swell of her firm, fit ass and he groped and squeezed it. Without thinking, one hand went up to the base of her tail, wrapped around it, and gave it a small squeeze. She let out a loud moan and went temporarily rigid, and he wondered if that had been a bad move. A woman’s tail, had she one, was usually a very intimate thing to touch.

But it seemed to only invigorate her more.

Layla reached down between them and gripped his steel-hard cock. She ran her hand up and down it for a moment, as though enjoying the simple act of touching it, and then she raised herself up, aimed it at her pussy, and lowered herself.

Both of them let out loud, low moans of primal pleasure as they began fornicating and the first burst of rapture from initial penetration hit them both. She took his entire length into herself, and oh was she wet. Good fucking Gods was she wet. And tight! Layla grabbed his shoulders as she finished settling into place atop him, then growled and began to ride him. He groaned loudly, the pleasure hitting him in waves. Parts of him hurt, ached with suffering from his time in the ocean, but he didn’t give one fuck about that.

Layla consumed his attention.

She seemed to tower above him in the flickering firelight and the close atmosphere of the tiny shack. Nude and furry and raw, she looked like a being of lust or a warrior felis deity come down for a night of wild sex with a mortal. Her firm, high breasts bounced beautifully in unison with the rest of her as she furiously rode his cock, fucking herself with it, shoving it into her pussy again and again. She growled and groaned, and no words were passed between them as they screwed like rutting animals, almost mindless in their ferocious, savage fuck session. All the thoughts were pushed soundly out of John’s head as Layla screwed him, putting her powerful hips and thighs to use. His pain seemed to fade away as she moved against him.

He reached up and groped her breasts for several moments, loving the feel of them in his grasp, loving the firm fitness of her body. Then he ran his hands down her sides to her hips. He grabbed them, digging his fingertips in, and began thrusting madly up into her. Layla let out a loud cry of rapture as he did this, shoving his cock even deeper into her, and she began going harder and faster. Beneath them, the bed creaked and groaned, and he wondered briefly if it would break. And didn’t care if it did. After another moment, his hands found her ass once more, and then her tail. This time when he wrapped his fingers around its base and squeezed, she let out a groan somewhere deep in her throat and began to orgasm almost immediately.

He cried out, this time in pain, as her claws came out and dug into his shoulders, but she didn’t seem to notice. She was lost in her orgasm, and soon, so was he. Her orgasm triggered his own and in an instant they were both coming hard, coming together, and he was shooting his seed into her, pumping her sweet felis vagina full of it. The stuff left him in hard spurts as he felt her own hot sex juices escaping her pussy, getting all over him. They both moaned and cried out and panted and grunted and shouted as they came together.

And then it was over, suddenly, and she collapsed against him.

He remembered them both panting furiously, getting their breaths back, and then he remembered a powerful wave of sleepiness washing over him. He shifted, and so did she, so that they were laying beside each other, and then the lethargy pulled him down into the dark waters of sleep, like a powerful undertow, and he knew no more.

Haven 3 Preview!

So, good news, I’m making good progress with Haven 3! As of right now, I’d say it’s a little under halfway done, and despite being sick and, at times, overwhelmed, I’ve manage to hit my word count every single day since the beginning! So I’m on track to release this month.

For now, here’s the first chapter.

If you want to read both Chapter One & Two, you can do so over on my Patreon if you’re a 1$/month Patron.

David walked into the abandoned campgrounds that were now his home, passing slowly through the main gate.

He took a deep breath, held the chilled air in his lungs, and let it out slowly in a puff of haze.

He felt good. Despite everything, despite the cold and the somewhat precarious situation they found themselves in and the potential threat of attack day and night...he felt good. Elated, actually. He continued his slow walk in between the initial few structures, which still remained abandoned. Two weeks. It had been two weeks since that day that the thieves had made their assault on his home, and had successfully been repelled.

For the time being at least.

He felt like that moment had been a good call to arms and it was then he had made up his mind to go after them. Unfortunately, the world had different plans. That night, a bad storm had begun, and it hadn’t let up for three solid days. They’d all pretty much been stuck in their cabins, snowed in, waiting for the worst of it to pass. It let up on the fourth day, but then barely twenty four hours had gone by before another blizzard descended on them. And so it had gone for two whole weeks. Even during the lulls in the storms, when they had the opportunity to leave, all of their time was taken up by tasks necessary to stay alive.

Chopping firewood. Melting snow for water. Hunting game for food. Making crucial repairs to the inhabited buildings to keep the cold out and the warmth in. Even when he managed to get away from the campgrounds, it was only to hunt the surrounding buildings for supplies. They were having to go farther and farther out at this point. He usually went with either Cait, Ellie, or Ashley. Surprisingly, Ellie had stuck around for most of the two weeks. Although she’d disappeared about four days ago and had yet to return.

He thought she’d gotten cabin fever, or maybe she was just sick of them.

David walked up to the first of the places he intended to visit this morning. He had just finished taking a little stroll around the exterior of the campgrounds, making sure nothing was out there, nothing lurking. Besides a few zombies stumbling around off in the distance, he didn’t see anything. He stepped up to one of the cabins and knocked on the door.

A moment later it opened up and the old man who had initially been living with Ashley and her family answered. David had come to know him as Paul. He, his wife, and the young child they had essentially adopted and were now caring for had taken up residence in one of the cabins. Paul smiled as soon as he saw him.

“David,” he said.

“Hello, Mister Walsh. How are you doing today?” David replied.

“Fine, David. And I believe I asked you to call me Paul, and you agreed to that. I’ve already got enough reminders of how old I am.”

David chuckled. “Sorry, habit of mine. Do you need anything, Paul?”

“Yes, actually. We’re running low on firewood. I went to get some at sunrise, but the bin’s empty. I would’ve chopped some, but you and Evelyn advised us not to go out unless we absolutely had to...not that I’m necessarily complaining. I’ve had enough outdoors and winter to last me for the rest of my life, all six months of it,” he replied, laughing softly. That was another thing he was getting used to: Paul’s dark sense of humor. Hell, not just his but his wife’s and the other older woman who had since moved in.

They were always joking about death.

He supposed it was one way to deal with it.

“I’ll make sure you get some firewood. Anything else?” David asked, pulling out the notebook he’d found and started carrying around for this. Doing morning rounds had become part of his routine at this point.

“No, we’re good otherwise. Thank you for checking in, and, uh, thank you again for taking us all in. It’s very, very appreciated. And if there’s anything either myself or Martha can do to help out, please don’t hesitate to tell us. I admit it’s been nice getting my breath back after all the madness, but before long it’s going to feel strange, not pulling my own weight.”

“You could consider this retirement,” David replied, replacing the notebook after making the notation.

Paul snorted ruefully. “Son, we don’t get to retire anymore. Retirement is a long dirt nap, nowadays.”

“I guess so,” David murmured. “When I think of something, I’ll let you know, I promise.” Because he could understand that. It’d feel weird, living with other people and not doing anything in return. In a world where it felt like everyone always needed to pitch in, where it seemed like there was often more work than workers, the need to get shit done was powerful. Especially if you felt like you were sitting on your ass at the expense of other people. But for now the place was running pretty smoothly. Although he did intend to get more organized, and soon, he just...kept getting distracted. Living in close proximity to five women who were all highly sexual and highly interested in you tended to be very...exhausting.

On top of dating Evelyn, April, and Cait, Ellie usually jumped him once a day or so, and Ashley had revealed herself to be downright amorous. She was one horny fucking woman, and she seemed to have taken a particular liking to him. And to Ellie. And interestingly, it seemed like Ellie was returning that interest. More than once they’d gone off on their own. And he’d had to hear about it from her parents more than once.

David stepped up to the next cabin and knocked. This time, Jim Carlson, the man who he had helped at the abandoned gas station a few weeks ago, answered.

“Hello, David,” he said.

“Hello, Jim,” David replied, remembering that Jim had told him something similar about what to call him. “How’s everything going this morning?”

“Good, for the most part. We need more food, though.” He looked a little embarrassed. “I thought I’d been doing a decent job taking care of it, but two kids, one of them being a damned teenager...they can eat.”

“Yeah I remember what it was like,” David murmured.

“Amanda’s on guard duty now and I intended to go hunting.”

David considered his words. It was interesting. It wasn’t exactly a question, but it wasn’t exactly a statement, either. At this point, he and Evelyn and now Cait, too, were sort of seen as leaders of the community. People weren’t coming to them for everything, but...they asked a lot questions. They all clearly wanted to be part of a community, and all that went with that.

“I haven’t seen anything around but some zombies in the distance,” David replied finally. “I guess, let Amanda know when you leave and where you’re going, and it’d be great if you didn’t go too far. We haven’t seen those assholes for two weeks, but...they know where we are.”

“Yeah,” Jim muttered. “I hear you.”

“All right. Good luck on hunting. I’ll make sure to bring some food over today.”

“Thanks.”

David glanced at the main building as he began crossing to the next cabin to check on their only new arrivals since they’d invited Ashley’s group and Jim’s group to live with them. He was starving, and on the way out, he’d smelled bacon frying up in the kitchen. He figured either Evelyn was making breakfast. He wanted to eat. But no breakfast yet. He walked over to the next cabin and knocked on the door.

Ann was a pretty hardcore older woman. Although she was, he guessed, in her sixties, she had not only been taking care of three kids by herself since the village fell, but managed to make it to them during a blizzard about a week ago. The place they had been staying at had been attacked by a small horde of zombies and the resulting battle, which she had been winning, had caused a fire, forcing them to abandoned the property.

She already knew about their little setup here, and so she’d led the children off through the snowstorm, and had actually made it there. She was still pretty fit and capable, and had proven it since showing up. Although she spent a lot of her time tending to the three children she’d basically adopted, she also had no problem pulling guard duty, helping when the occasional zombie or other mutated monster showed up, chopping firewood, or making repairs around the place. She was definitely extremely helpful.

She answered her door promptly and looked a little worried. “Oh, David, good. I just wanted to let you know that one of the kids is sick. I don’t think it’s anything serious, just a cough and a fever right now, but I’m going to go get some medicine.”

“All right. Let me know if they get any worse.”

“I will,” she said.

“Do you need anything else today?”

“No, we’re fine for other supplies. Thank you.”

She headed off for the main structure, where they kept their stores of supplies: food, clean water, medicine, weapons. He looked at the cabin across from him, the one nearest to the main office on the right side, where Ashley and her family lived. He always felt uncomfortable talking with either of her parents. Although, to his knowledge, they didn’t know he was banging the fuck out of their daughter on a regular basis, he felt they probably suspected heavily. It had to be awkward. He also wasn’t sure how they felt about his current relationship status. Living around inhumans was one thing, dating more than one of them was quite another. Although it might not be very obvious to the casual observer that he and April were dating, given her shyness, it was certainly common knowledge that he and Cait and Evelyn were dating.

They both had no problem kissing him on the mouth frequently and visibly.

Not that he had a problem with it.

Ashley was at least attempting to be discreet, though he wasn’t entirely sure why. Either she was embarrassed to be seen with him because it would make her parents uncomfortable, or because it would make her uncomfortable, or because he was so obviously in a relationship with at least two other women, or something else entirely. But she’d been a little more...careless, lately. Especially with Cait. They kissed a lot, too, and not always behind what might be considered closed doors. Not that he minded that, either.

Speaking of which, the front door to Ashley’s family’s cabin opened up as he approached and the woman herself came out.

“Hey you,” she said brightly as they came to stand together.

“Hey, Ash, how are you doing? I was just coming to see if you or your family needs anything,” David replied.

“Aren’t you sweet? No, we’re fine. I just got done checking that myself. I intended to ask Ellie or Cait if they wanted to go out and do some hunting or exploration today,” she said.

“Cait just got off nightwatch,” David replied. They began walking towards the main office.

“Oh, right. Well, just Ellie, then...fuck, she isn’t here, is she? I just remembered. She didn’t show up at any time last night, did she?”

“I...” he hesitated, thinking about it. “I don’t think so. But you know her, she can sneak in and out with a little too much ease.”

“Yeah, I guess so.”

As they walked in and headed upstairs into the kitchen and dining area, David laughed softly. A certain blue-furred jag was sitting at the table. He could tell immediately that Ellie was agitated, between the look on her face and the way her tail twitched back and forth. Across the hall, through the open window that looked into it, David spied Ann talking with Evelyn, who was finishing up making breakfast.

“Ellie! I’m so glad you’re here,” Ashley said.

Ellie smiled warmly and it seemed to break through her agitation and unease for a moment. “Hello, Ashley. I missed you, too.”

“I was just going to ask if we could go on another excursion today.”

She opened her mouth to respond, then hesitated and her smile faded. “I’m afraid not. I’m sorry.” She looked squarely at David. “You and I need to talk. Alone.”

He felt a chill splash his guts. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Nothing immediately dangerous, just...a serious talk we need to have. Have you had breakfast yet?” she asked.

“No, not yet.”

“Okay. We’ll eat, and then we can take a walk.”

“...all right,” David replied. He was tempted to try and get it out of her here and now, but immediately shot that idea down. No way he was getting Ellie to tell him even a single thing before she was good and ready to. Well great, now he had that responsibility dumped in his lap. Hopefully it wasn’t too serious, whatever it was...what could it be? He had the idea that it had something to do with their...relationship? Did they have a relationship? Ellie was strange. She had no problem having sex, but also clearly kept him, and everyone else except for Cait and perhaps now Ashley, at arm’s length. He respected her desires and privacy, but…

It was getting kind of frustrating.

But he had his own problems. Like being in a four-way relationship in a post-apocalyptic landscape while trying to maintain a quartet of families attempting to form a community. Too often, he felt like he simply didn’t have time for everyone. Speaking of which…

“Where’s April?”

“Still in bed,” Evelyn called. “With Cait.”

“Oh. Okay then,” David said. “I’m going to go...check on them.”

“Don’t get distracted,” Ellie said, and her tone indicated that she was serious about getting a move on. He just sighed and nodded. He’d had wake-up sex with Evelyn, but he was still horny. He jogged upstairs and listened closely as he made his way down the hallway, towards April’s bedroom. He didn’t hear anything, although as he drew very close to her door, which was almost closed, he heard quiet conversation.

Things had been going well with April, he thought. She was very kind to him, and clearly liked him a lot, though she still seemed very awkward. Which he understood. He’d taken the time over the past few weeks to build her a bookshelf out of scrap lumber laying around, and thought he’d done a pretty good job putting it together, even managing to sand it down. He’d also managed to find and give her close to a dozen books so far. He had to admit, she had certainly incentivized him to do so, thanking him vigorously in her own way each time he brought one. It always resulted in a wonderfully intense orgasm for both of them.

He knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Cait called sleepily.

He opened the door and stepped in. “Hello, David,” she said, and yawned.

“Hi,” April said, smiling tiredly.

“How are you doing today?” he asked. April had been prone to bouts of weakness and exhaustion over the past few days. She’d explained it was a combination of her anemia and insomnia, and her tendency to get too involved in her projects to remember to eat properly.

“I definitely need more sleep today,” she replied. She giggled. “Especially after what Cait just did to me.”

“I’m sorry I missed it,” he replied.

“Me too, but...I’ve still got enough energy to perform again, you know,” Cait said, smirking tiredly at him.

He groaned. “It is...so fucking tempting, it truly is, but Ellie has demanded my presence and warned me not to dawdle.”

“Oh, she’s back?” Cait asked. “I must’ve missed her on my way in.”

“I think she just got here.”

“Well, I know how she gets when she’s in one of her moods. Don’t let us keep you. Come wake me up for a bang when you’re free though. You know I’m always ready for you, handsome,” she said. She looked beyond sexy right now, the blankets almost, but not quite, covering up her large, bare breasts, her face slicked with sweat, her red hair a wild mess as she laid beside an equally nude April, who had a very satisfied look on her face.

“I promise I will,” he replied. “Have a good sleep, my lovers.”

“Be dreaming of you, I’m sure, David,” Cait said.

It was hard, but he left them, closing the door behind him and heading back downstairs. Damn did he want to fuck right now! Cait was an exceptional lover. Not that he didn’t appreciate Evelyn or April. Although if Ellie was pulling him off somewhere, he’d absolutely love to be inside of her. He wouldn’t say it out loud but…

She had the best pussy, so far.

Good fucking God did she have such an amazing vagina. And she could fuck. Oh could that woman fuck so good.

An uncomfortably powerful erection accompanied him by the time he headed into the kitchen. Ann had since left, and now Evelyn was finishing up the meal. He could hear Ellie and Ashley chatting in the dining room.

“Hey, honey. I assume all’s well out there?” Evelyn asked.

“Yeah, although Jim’s family needs more food, and Paul’s almost out of firewood, and we are out of firewood. Jim’s going hunting, too,” he reported.

Evelyn sighed. “I guess it’s for the best. I intend to deal with the firewood problem today. It’s what I’m going to do for the next several hours, in fact. Ellie popped in before sitting at the table. We had a conversation. She’s going to have a similar conversation with you when you go out for a walk with her.”

“What does she want to talk about? I’m nervous,” David asked.

“She asked me not to tell you. It’s...important, I’ll say that. She wants to put it in her own words. Just listen to her, talk with her. She’s smart and she knows what she’s talking about. It involves all of us here. Now, help me carry this food in.”

“All right,” he replied after a few seconds. He really wanted to know more, but he’d just have to wait. Evelyn leaned down and gave him a kiss, and then they began gathering up the food she’d prepared. It was mostly bacon and scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, all of it gotten from the farm. Their deal had worked out nicely so far. He thought about his relationship with Evelyn as they set the table for breakfast.

She was...patient. Which was good, given how busy they both were. He thought it helped that it was her bed that he came to almost every night. They’d finished their project last week, building a custom-made bed frame big enough for her and him, (and one or two others), and then they’d spent a few hours breaking it in. He was glad they hadn’t literally broken it, because they had gone pretty rough. Especially when Cait and Ellie had jumped in at one point. And April. And then Ashley, later on. Such a fuck that had been.

They were getting along well, and mainly she seemed to want to just be around him. It didn’t really matter what they were doing, so long as it was together. Consequently, he found himself happily patrolling outside, chopping firewood, making repairs to the cabins, or taking long walks to check out abandoned buildings in her company. Sometimes they had long, pleasant conversations. Sometimes they walked in lengthy bouts of companionable silence. That sense of intimacy, of connection, had only strengthened over the past few weeks.

He and Evelyn set the table, and the four of them began to dish out food for themselves. Feeling the press of time and knowing that he had a lot of walking ahead of him, David didn’t go too heavy on the food. That, and he was actually pretty eager to get going. It had been several days since his last real excursion beyond the fences that surrounded the campgrounds, and surprisingly, he was itching to go out. Plus, he really wanted to know what was so important that Ellie had to tell him, herself, alone. He wasn’t sure whether to be excited or nervous, though from what Evelyn had said, he didn’t think it was anything to get excited for. Like sex.

They all considered sex important, sure, but probably not in the context she had placed it in. Or maybe he was totally off base and it was something sexual? Maybe she wanted to be in a relationship with him? He was even less sure about that one. It seemed more unlikely. This was the problem with having no fucking information. David just made himself relax, eat, and be patient. He’d find out soon enough.

“So what are you guys actually like doing out there that I can’t come too?” Ashley asked eventually.

“David and I have something important to discuss,” Ellie replied.

“Oh really? Is it serious? Are you two serious now? Boyfriend and girlfriend?” Ashley asked, smirking.

“No,” Ellie replied simply. Well, that answered that. Unless she just didn’t want to admit it to Ashley.

“Yeah, I guess he’s got enough of those, huh?” she asked, still with that smirk.

David sighed. Ashley had a habit of teasing him a lot. He glanced at Evelyn. She winked at him and then turned to Ashley. “Is that your not-so-subtle way of saying you’re interested in taking things to the next level with David?”

“What?” she asked, startled, immediately losing her smirk. “No. That’s not-no. I’m happy with the way things are.”

Both Evie and Ellie laughed.

“Not so fun to be on the other end, huh?” David asked.

She sighed heavily. “Whatever. Just don’t take too long fucking out there in the woods. I want another expedition today.”

“I’ll see what I can do,” Ellie replied, and finished off her meal. She began to say something else and then her gaze jerked to the side, her eyes widening. “There’s a mouse,” she said.

David looked over and saw a little white mouse scurrying across the floor. “Oh, hey! There you are,” he said, and plucked a piece of bacon off his plate. He tossed it onto the floor in the mouse’s path. The mouse hesitated and put its little nose up in the air. It twitched a few times, then it regarded them cautiously for a few seconds, then it began scurrying over to the bacon.

“You know this mouse?” Ellie asked.

“Yes. This is Frostbite. He lives here,” Evelyn replied.

“He showed up last week. Caught him in the pantry, trying to get into our food. Luckily, we’re adamant about sealing it up, so he didn’t get in, but we feed him now,” David said.

“He’s smart. And brave. He’s learned to come ask for food during mealtimes, usually when I’m preparing. I guess he was outside while I was cooking today,” Evelyn murmured.

“So you’ve got a pet now?” Ellie asked.

“Yeah, I guess you could say that. He lives here and we named him and we feed him. Although he seems pretty independent,” David replied.

“Huh. Well, okay then.”

She sat back and crossed her arms, waiting impatiently for David to finish. So he did, tossing what was left of his meal into his mouth. He kissed Evelyn and then when she complained, went for a kiss with Ashley as well. She grabbed his shirtfront and pulled him into a hard, long kiss on the mouth. Before she fully released him, she looked up at him and said, “We haven’t fucked for two days, David. You’d better fix that soon.”

“Uh...yeah, I can do that,” he replied.

She laughed and released him. “Good.”

Ellie was already on her feet. “We should go.”

“All right, let me get my gear,” David replied, and hurried upstairs.

Parasexual 5 Sneak Preview!

Parasexual 5 is going pretty well! I’d say it’s about halfway written right now, maybe a little over half. And since we’re at that point, I figured it was time to release the sneak preview. Here is the first chapter of the story. And here is where you can access the first two chapters of the story, if you are a 1$/month patron or higher.

“Are you doing okay, honey?”

Alex jerked slightly as Brianna broke the silence that had settled over them and remained for, he realized, a good twenty minutes now. Only the quiet, peaceful calm of the ambient music she had started playing at some point during their trip had been audible. Though he had hardly realized it, thoughts running, sprinting through his head as he anxiously tried to work out exactly how he was going to manage the upcoming task.

Releasing his debut album, managing a four way relationship with three paranormal women, and even moving to a new city seemed to pale in comparison to what he was about to do: explain some of it to his parents.

He’d been trying to figure out what in the fuck to say to them the entire time.

“I’m kind of freaking out,” he admitted, looking away from the window he’d been staring out of, not really seeing the landscape flash by as they drove down the highway. The fact that they were driving on a highway wasn’t helping.

“I understand. Talk to me,” she replied, reaching over and taking one of his hands in hers.

Her skin was very hot. Side effect of being a werewolf, he had learned. And holy fuck did it make sex amazing. Alex stopped that train of thought, and much more easily than he would have at pretty much any other time, because he needed to focus, and that really highlighted just how anxious he was. He’d been exposed to more sex than he even thought possible over the past month, which had the paradoxical effect of not alleviating his sex obsession, but strengthening it.

“I guess I’m really considering how to handle telling my parents about...all of it. The moving, the relationship, my ‘career’ change, as if I even fucking had a career to begin with before this point,” he explained.

“And?”

“And...I’m going to lie to them. That’s what I’ve been leaning towards since the beginning, that’s what I did in the beginning, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

“All right. What are you going to lie to them about?” she asked with a remarkably calm diplomacy. He almost laughed.

“The fact that I’m in a poly relationship. They...especially my mother...just wouldn’t get it. It’s too much. I’m also not going to tell them that you are a paranormal, or that I’ll be living with anyone but you. I’m also not going to mention what happened with Jeremiah. At all. They really would flip their shit. But moving to Thorne, living with you, trying my hand at being an ambient musician, I’ll tell them that.”

“And when they want to visit? Lapis will probably agree to hide or go out for the day, but Aurora won’t on general principle. Although I suppose we could rent out a fake apartment...”

“No,” he said, then sighed. “That’s a ‘we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it’, moment. They don’t really like to travel. If I have to own up to the open relationship with paranormals, I will, and I’ll stand by it, I’m not going to lie that far, because I’m not ashamed of you or Aurora or Lapis or anything we do together, it’s just-”

“I know, Alex,” Brianna said. She smiled, squeezed his hand gently, and then let go, replacing her own hand on the wheel again. “I wasn’t trying to imply that. I’m with you on this decision. I just wanted to know how far you wanted to take it.”

“...okay,” he murmured, and that seemed to satisfy Brianna for the time being.

He glanced out the window again.

It had been eight days since he had sat down in the kitchen of the lake house with the women in his life and made some decisions with them. Those had been eight great days. After the decisions had been made, it was like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, from all of theirs really, and they had truly settled in to enjoy themselves.

There had been a lot of sex.

They had explored the town more, gone for long, meandering walks through the woods, along the coast. They had spent more time with the mermaids, and that had been just wonderful. Altogether, it was the vacation he had been hoping for.

Yesterday, they had packed up and headed home, and begun making plans.

There was a lot to do.

But something that Alex and Brianna needed to do before they could meaningfully progress was to wrap up their lives in Alex’s hometown. It should be a relatively easy affair, though that wasn’t what Alex had originally thought, given the fact that Brianna had a house to deal with. But, she reminded him, she had rented it, not bought it. Now, the rental agreement wasn’t up for about another year or so, and so she did have to talk with the person she was renting from, which was on their list of shit to do, but that was a lot easier than having to suddenly sell a house. There were a few other things to do, but those were the main ones.

Presently, they were driving Lapis’s car. She had been kind enough to let them borrow it, given the fact that they were moving. She was presently in her apartment, happily locked up and catching up on her work.

After getting her car and dropping them off, he and Brianna had hit the road immediately, given that they had a fucking long drive ahead of them. They’d made it a bit over halfway there and had stopped in a hotel for the night, fucked, slept, fucked again in the night and then in the morning, grabbed some breakfast, and hit the road once more. Now, they were almost to his hometown, perhaps half an hour from his parent’s house.

He wasn’t handling it too well.

And one reason in particular…

Alex flipped down the sunvisor and checked his neck in the little mirror there, frowning, gently rubbing the skin where Aurora had bitten him over a week ago.

“It’s fine, honey,” Brianna said without even looking at him. “You can’t even tell. There’s nothing there to see.”

He sighed. “I just want to be sure,” he murmured, twisting around a bit, looking at his skin from all angles. She was right, there was no hint of a wound there, though that was only because they had spent a few hundred bucks on a healing cream meant to speed up the process. That was something his parents absolutely could not see, because they wouldn’t understand at all, and would, in fact, flip the fuck out over it, because there was only one way you got those kinds of marks on your neck. Honestly, he felt bad about it.

He wanted more, and he knew that Aurora wanted more even more than he did.

But they hadn’t been able to share blood even once since the first time, although they had come very close a few times. Brianna had had to stop them more than once, watching them closely every time they had sex. It was bad because they both wanted it terribly. It was fucking intoxicating. Even now, he found himself desperately wanting to feel Aurora drinking his blood. He could really, genuinely see now how humans got addicted to that shit. It wasn’t really that the vampires were using magic on them, it was just that it felt like a fucking drug for both parties.

He sighed softly and flipped the visor back up.

“I know, love,” Brianna said. “Don’t worry. You’ll get those teeth just as soon as we get back.”

“I feel kind of like a freak now,” he muttered.

“Don’t. It’s good.”

“It’s...complicated,” he murmured.

“Tell me about it. Tell me what you’re thinking.”

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s like...I mean, there’s the kind of surface level weird feeling of the fact that I really like getting bitten by a vampire. That I want my blood sucked. But I mean, that’s something I’ll get over. That’s just, you know, societal pressure speaking. I don’t really care about that. Then there’s the next level down, the one that’s a bit more complicated. It’s...” he sighed again, looking out the window, “...more complicated.”

Brianna waited patiently. The landscape blurred past them.

“It’s a lot more intimate than I thought it would be,” he said finally. “I mean, I know Aurora warned me, and told me about it, but she was right: words really can’t do it justice. It’s one of those things that if you haven’t experienced it personally, then you really don’t know. You can’t know. It’s so...intimate! That’s the best, the absolutely best word, I can think of to describe it. And that would be complicated enough just by itself. But throw it in with the fact that I have you in my life and I love you, and now I have Lapis in my life, too, and we’re all dating and it feels...” He grimaced, looking down at his hands, “...it feels like...”

“What?” she asked.

“Cheating.”

“I thought you’d say that,” Brianna said. He was relieved to hear that she was calm. This had been bugging him for awhile now. “Alex...relationships are fluid. They change, and they’re different between people. Your relationship with Aurora isn’t the same as my relationship with Aurora, or our relationship with each other. This is something you’re going to learn as time goes on, and it’s going to be confusing and uncomfortable at times, but that’s okay. The thing that you need to hear right now is that I’m not jealous, or upset, about the incredibly deep connection you have with Aurora. I’m happy. This is clearly making you two very happy, and honestly I saw this coming. I knew Aurora would like you, and honestly, she’s going to fall in love with you.”

He blinked and slowly looked over at her. “You...think?”

Brianna snorted. “Duh, Alex. They both are. Don’t worry, this is going to be great. I’m pretty sure Aurora is most of the way to loving you, she’ll just need time. And you’re halfway there yourself, you’ll just need more time. Same with Lapis. Love...happens, Alex. You don’t get to decide that. No one does. Sometimes it’s absolutely the best thing in the whole fucking universe and sometimes it’s the absolute worst. In these cases, I predict it’s going to be the fucking best. It’s been the best for us so far, yeah?”

“Yeah,” he agreed immediately. “Yes, it has. I just...okay, yeah, I’ll put that aside for now, I think.”

“Good. Don’t feel like you need to rush anything, or hold off on anything. Just...let it happen. Let it become what it is in its own time. Although...I do have a bit of advice.”

“What?”

“I think Lapis and Aurora both need to tell you. You needed to tell me, but I think they need to tell you when they’re ready,” she said.

“Okay,” he murmured, and thought that she was right. For their own reasons, they both did need to say it first, he thought.

A few more moments passed.

“Here’s our exit...you still wanna hit your parent’s place first?” Brianna asked as she turned off the highway.

He sighed heavily. “Yeah. Let’s get that out of the way.”

Looking up at his parent’s house, what had once been his house, where he had almost been forced to move back to, was now surreal.

It seemed impossible that he had only been gone a few weeks.

It actually felt like months at this point.

He supposed a lot had happened. Alex took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He made sure not to limp as he began walking up towards the front door with Brianna. Although his leg almost never bothered him anymore, unless he moved it in just the wrong way, and it was still a little stiff some mornings, sometimes he caught himself having a very slight limp even though his leg wasn’t bothering him at that time.

It was a strange side effect.

But before he could even finish getting up to the front door, it opened up and his mother was there, waiting for him.

“You’re home,” she said, stepping forward and wrapping him in a hug. “Thank God.”

“I’m fine, mom,” he replied, hugging her back, resisting the urge to either sigh or laugh. He’d always known his mother was kind of overprotective, but now, suddenly, it was like he was looking at all his memories of her with a new light, and he was realizing that it was somehow both worse than he realized and not nearly as bad as he thought. Given what had happened with Jeremiah, he actually got a lot of her paranoia. And yet, given all the bad things that had actually happened to him in his life...she worried way too much.

And, he realized, so did he.

“Yes, I see,” she said after letting him go, and she cast a quick glance at Brianna. “Come in.”

His father was hovering a little farther back in the house, waiting. He’d always been a lot more chill than his mom. Again, something he had always been aware of, but now it was something he was truly coming to appreciate.

They came into the living room and sat down on the couches.

“That was longer than you said it was going to be,” his mother said. “You said a week.”

“I said maybe two weeks, including time there and back, but I also texted you and let you know that I was going to be staying for longer. I was...having a lot of fun,” he replied.

“I see,” she murmured, then sighed. “I guess I’m just glad you’re back and in one piece.”

“Well...”

She heard his tone and immediately tensed and frowned. “What?”

He sighed, suddenly becoming impatient. He calmed himself, or tried to, reminding himself that she was only tense and anxious because she was worried about him, but more and more he was realizing that it was making him feel so...juvenile. Like she thought he didn’t know what the fuck he was doing. He didn’t think he had it all figured out, he wasn’t delusion, but at this point he had at least a basic grasp on keeping himself alive.

“I’m moving to Thorne,” he said, deciding that there was no way around it. He was just going to have to tell them and face the scrutiny.

“That seems...kind of sudden,” his dad said.

“Well, I’ve had several weeks to think about it. Honestly, I love it there,” he replied.

Alex watched his mother, waiting. She looked like a dozen different reactions had hit her all at once and they were clogged in her brain. Finally, she put on a very forced smile and looked at Brianna. “Would you mind giving us a moment with our son?”

Brianna just smiled. “No.” She squeezed Alex’s hand gently. “I’ll be outside, dear.”

“Okay,” he replied, and felt his anxiety spike. But he made himself relax as he watched her go. Probably what truly helped him relax was the knowledge that there was nothing they could actually do to make him stay here or not do this. He didn’t want it to have to come to that, he did love his parents, but he knew they no longer had any real power over him, as in legal power. But he fully intended to do this with their approval, even if it meant bending the truth and, in some cases, outright lying.

“Alex...why are you doing this all of a sudden?” his mother asked, growing serious and leaning forward as Brianna closed the door behind her.

“Mom, there’s no secret. It’s as it appears: I don’t like living here. I don’t like living in this city. I don’t like living in the conditions I’ve lived in. I finally feel...good.

She sighed softly. “Alex, I’m not trying to burst your bubble, but...going on a vacation in a city and living in a city are two different things.”

“I know. I understand that. But I’m in a pretty secure position. Brianna has...a lot of money.”

“So, what, you’re just going to live off of her?” his mom asked.

“No. I’m going to make a serious attempt at being an ambient musician, like I’ve talked about for years now.”

His mother sighed again, more forcefully this time. “Alex, the chances of that actually working out-”

“Mom,” he said, a little more forcefully than he meant to, “what would you rather? Would you rather I work a job that I hate, and I mean hate, like I’ve been doing since I left high school, or would you rather I actually enjoyed my life for once?”

She sat back a little, looking surprised. He hadn’t meant it to come out that harshly, but he realized that he had actually been fucking miserable for a long time. He was coming to realize a lot recently.

“And if she leaves you? If all her money evaporates? If you’re stuck in this paranormal city?” she asked.

He sighed. “Then you get to come pick me up, and bring me home, and say ‘I told you so’.”

His mother frowned, then glanced at his father. Alex did as well. “You’re awfully quiet,” he said. “What do you think of this, dad?”

His father chuckled. “Alex, I think...you’re going to do this regardless of this conversation’s outcome. I can already tell that. And I can see a change in you since the last time we spoke, and I like it. Part of living life is taking risks. And this is pretty nuts, I gotta admit, but you’re in your twenties, Alex. That’s the time to do things that are nuts. Now’s the time to take a big chance and move across the country and try to follow your dreams. And it sounds like you’ve got a hell of a safety net with her. I think you two are lying about something, or just not telling us, but I also respect your right to privacy, and I think you’re smart, son. I think you’ve put some real thought into this. I think there’s a risk, sure, but you’ve gotta take risks. And this seems like a genuine shot at happiness, and I mean...what more could I possibly want for you than for you to be happy?”

“Well...thanks, dad. That means a lot,” he replied, a little surprised. He looked back to his mother, she was frowning at him still, though not so severely.

Finally, she issued a small sigh. “Just answer me a few questions, honestly. Look into my eyes and help me put these things to rest, will you?”

“Yes,” he replied.

“Is Brianna a paranormal?” she asked.

He swallowed, figuring she might ask that. His mom was sharp. “Yes,” he said.

She let out a huff of irritation. “What kind?”

“A werewolf.”

“Holy crap,” his dad muttered, though he sounded a little awed.

“Is she...compelling you, in some way?”

Now he sighed, frustrated. “Mom, no,” he said firmly. “I’m doing this completely of my own volition. But...I can understand your hesitation, and your anxiety. I really can. I know there’s a lot of crap out there about paranormals. I met a lot of them out there in Thorne. She’s very in with that community, and not one of them tried to hurt me, or take advantage of me. They were kind to me. We just...had fun. I’m honestly finding at this point that I get along better with paranormals than with my own kind.”

Still his mother hesitated, and he decided to try and drive the point home harder. “Mom, outside of the two of you, Brianna and her friends have treated me with more kindness, and honesty, and respect, and compassion than anyone else in my life, okay? I know...this seems crazy. Like, I get it. This is a really big change, and it does seem kind of sudden. I’m getting used to it myself. But I’ve been unhappy for a long time, and I’ve mostly hidden it from you, because I wasn’t suicidal or incapacitated by depression or anxiety, I was just...waiting for my life to get better. And I’m tired of waiting. Surely you must have known some of how I felt.”

She nodded slowly. “Yes. I know. I’ve always done my best to help you, but...”

“But there are some problems you have to figure out yourself,” he said, and she nodded. “That’s what I’m doing. I’m figuring out how to be happy, how to build a life for myself. I honestly believe you want what’s best for me, and I understand that from your perspective, it might be difficult to take me at my word, because I probably still seem so young to you. I’m not saying I know everything, but...I am saying that this...feels right. And is, at least, worth trying.”

She looked at him for a long moment, then over at his father, who just gave her a small nod, then back to him. Finally, she let out her breath in a long exhalation. “Okay, Alex. I’m sorry...about my questions. I know it must seem terribly close-minded, but I’m not wrong to be at least a little paranoid. Paranormals do have abilities, and they have been known to take advantage of humans, and it’s just hard to...” she stopped suddenly, and looked guilty.

He laughed. “You don’t know how to say ‘it’s hard to see what she sees in you’ without making it sound like a massive put-down, right?”

“It’s not that I don’t see amazing qualities in you, Alex. You know I love you, and I think you’re smart, and honest, and kind, but she’s-I know she’s not twenty six, Alex.”

“You’re right. I asked her to lie, and I’m sorry. She’s in her fifties.”

“Holy shit,” his dad muttered.

“And she’s incredibly beautiful, and she’s a very accomplished werewolf, so why would she be interested in a shy, introverted, at best average-looking human from a small town? Believe me, I asked the question myself several times. Still do. I’ll admit, from the outside looking in, it does seem suspicious. But try to trust me, Brianna and I just...like each other. She really does like me. She wants to be with me because I make her happy.” He paused for a moment. “All I’m asking is that...you trust me on this.”

“You’re right,” she replied. “And your father is right. Of course I want you to be happy. Honestly, more than almost anything else, I want you to be happy. Safe, too, obviously, but happy. And this looks like it’s going to make you happy. Just...don’t forget to call every now and then, okay?”

He laughed, flooded with relief. “I’ll call once a week, all right?”

“All right,” she agreed.

He got up, and they hugged, and she cried a little, and he hugged his father. Then Alex went to his room and gathered the things that he wanted to take with him, which fit into a pair of suitcases, and he came back downstairs and hugged them again. They wished him good luck, reminded him to keep in touch, and then he was back out with Brianna.

“You seem happier,” she said as he put his stuff in the back.

“Yes. It went well,” he replied.

“Good.” She smiled, then she kissed him, and then they got into the SUV. “Come on, let’s go get the rest of this over with.”

Parasexual 4 Sneak Preview!

Hello, everyone!

I’m finally writing Parasexual 4! Oh how good it feels to get on with that series. As of right now, I’d say I’m about a quarter done. I’ve been actually managing to largely keep up with it and make some progress on it every single day since starting it. I’m putting in about two thousand words per day, which is really adding up, and so far it feels pretty good.

If I can maintain this pace, I may actually get it done by the end of the month, given that I already have the cover, and I’m editing as I go, and this probably won’t be as long as Parasexual 3. I’m looking at between 40-50,000 words.

Anyway, here is the first chapter! And if you want to also read the second chapter, then please visit my Patreon! If you are a 1$/month user, you can read it!

“Are you okay, Alex?” Helena asked.

“Oh yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, panting a little, looking down at her. He was currently sitting on the counter in Aurora’s bathroom, because it was about high enough for a seven-foot woman to kneel down and give you a blowjob.

Helena stuck her tongue out and dragged it up the bottom of his dick. “You seem like you’re in pain.”

“I am,” he replied, “but it’s fine, just...keep going.”

“Well, I suppose orgasms are natural painkillers,” she murmured, and then leaned forward and put his dick back into her big mouth.

“Oh...fuck,” he whispered as the pleasure hit him like a hammer.

This is exactly what he needed after all the crap he’d been through recently. Although he’d certainly been getting it enough from Brianna and Aurora lately, which was fantastic, but he had actually really missed Helena. She had been busy in the week that had passed since she’d saved his damned life. Well, technically a week had passed since she’d come to visit him in the hospital, but the fact that a day and a half had passed between those two events was still messing with him, since he’d been unconscious the entire time.

She stopped sucking him off and spat a huge gob of spit onto the head, then wrapped one large fist around it and began massaging it, making him groan and tense, then grunt in pain. Tensing his leg still hurt.

“You want to bust twice? Once in my mouth, once in my pussy?” she asked, looking up at him with her brilliant blue eyes. She had chopped off most of her bright blonde hair since last he’d seen her, and it was a really sexy look.

“Yes, definitely,” he replied.

She laughed. “Figured.”

The way it felt as she massaged just the head, squeezing firmly but carefully, lit the whole thing up with total bliss, and he knew he was close. Which was fine, because all the women he hooked up with seemed interested in shorter blowjobs than longer ones. Helena put it back in her mouth and began bobbing her head again, dragging her lips lovingly across the head again and again. Alex felt a strong sense of strangeness as he watched her work. She was topless now, wearing only some cargo pants that had been ripped off high up on the thigh, and her huge boobs looked just fantastic, swaying gently as she sucked his dick.

Before hooking up with Brianna, and even for awhile after that, honestly, he never thought that he would get his dick sucked and then ridden by an honest-to-goodness Valkyrie. A real, seven-foot-tall, badass and built Valkyrie. Let alone one who was several hundred years old. But Helena liked him, or seemed to, or at least was doing him and/or Brianna a favor.

Either way, after all the fucking shit that had happened to him recently, he was just letting himself enjoy this whole experience. He needed it.

And speaking of enjoying…

“Oh fuck, Helena,” he groaned, “gonna...pop!”

He cried out as he started coming. Helena moaned, cupping his balls in one huge hand and gently massaging them, and he groaned loudly in response. She worked his cock like a professional, letting it twitch and spasm and jerk in between her luscious red lips as he emptied his seed into her mouth. Each contraction of his dick sent a fresh spurt of seed into her mouth and a new pulse of unmitigated bliss careening through his body, like a wave of intensely pink light. He moaned loudly, panting, lost completely in the timeless place of an orgasm, his hand resting on top of her head. The pain in his leg seemed distant and wonderfully faraway.

“Oh, Helena! Oh my fucking...oh, Helena it feels so fucking good!” he moaned incoherently as she sucked him totally dry. He leaned back against the mirror above Aurora’s sink, hand on her head, feeling her soft, warm hair against his skin, and the absolute totality of orgasmic rapture. Helena sucked it all out and then slowly pulled him out of her mouth.

“There, feel better?” she asked, gently laying a hand on his bad leg, over the bandage. Her touch was warm and comforting.

“Much,” he managed, panting. “That was a really good one.”

“You sure came enough,” she replied. He just nodded, getting his breath back. She stood up and stretched, popping her neck loudly. “So where are they? I thought for sure they’d want to be here, watching us fuck.”

“Uh, they went on a grocery run,” Alex replied, but he felt a sense of unease slip into him as he said it. She had a point, and on top of that, both of them, especially Brianna, had hardly left his side all week.

“Gonna get a drink,” Helena said after a moment, then walked out of the bathroom. Alex lingered a moment longer, then got up carefully and followed her. It felt weird to walk around stark naked in someone else’s apartment, especially with a woman around, but less weird than it had before, especially considering he’d already stuck his cock into Helena before. He found her in the kitchen, draining a bottle of wine.

“What have you been up to?” he asked.

She finished off the bottle and set it on the counter. “Checking in with my friends and colleagues, revisiting my usual haunts, checking up on the apartment I’ve got in town. Well, I say apartment but really it’s an abandoned studio I bought and converted like twenty years ago. Still, no one’s stupid enough to break in there. The usual, basically. What about you? What have you been doing?” she asked.

They began walking into Aurora’s bedroom.

“Well, after we last talked, I was in the hospital for a few days, resting up with Brianna and Aurora. Said goodbye to Emma, you know. I haven’t seen Evangeline, though.”

“Yeah, that’s how she is. Even busier than I am. I think she may come and visit you as a point of pride, because she said she would, but don’t expect too much from her.”

“I kind of figured. But after they released me, I basically just came back here and...I’ve just been chilling out. I haven’t actually left the apartment since coming home.”

“Any reason?” she asked. The question was innocent enough, but he could detect a hint of concern beneath it.

“Mostly my leg,” he said. “The worst of the pain is gone now. I actually forgot about it for a little while after waking up, until I, you know, looked at it.”

He glanced down at his leg. It had this apparently high-tech, or really high-magic, bandage wrapped around it at the break point. It was waterproof and all that, and he didn’t have to change it, so he could shower without a problem, though it did kind of itch sometimes. Honestly, Alex knew that he had no right to complain at all. He knew that without magic, broken bones took months to heal properly, and with most of it in a cast.

“But otherwise, I guess...I haven’t really felt, you know, ready, I guess. To go back out there. It was, uh, the whole thing was a bit much, you know?”

“I understand,” she said.

“Thanks again for...saving my life.”

She laughed softly. “Really it was Evangeline who saved your life, but you’re welcome.”

“Ultimately, I have to leave today whether I’m ready or not,” he said, sitting down on Aurora’s bed. Well, recently it had been his bed, too. His and Brianna’s and Aurora’s. He never thought he’d be sharing a bed with two hot, naked, paranormal women who both regularly wanted to fuck him. It seemed even more unlikely than having sex with a Valkyrie.

“How’s that?” she asked, taking her pants off.

“Doctor’s appointment. One week checkup. The wrap comes off...I’m nervous there’s gonna be a scar.”

“Oh come on now, Alex. Scars are hot,” she said. As she finished dropping her shorts, (she wore no panties), she posed, showing off her own body, as if to emphasize this. She did have several scars. And...yeah, they were hot.

“They’re hot on you, clearly,” he murmured.

She laughed. “It’ll be hot on you, too. Now lay back, and I’ll ride your cock until you come.”

“Okay.”

He scooted back onto the bed until he was laying on his back in the middle. She climbed onto the bed, and over him, looking as massive and imposing as ever. She gripped his cock and began to massage it gently.

“Why did you come over?” he asked. “You kind of just...showed up and offered to blow and fuck me. Uh, not that I’m complaining at all.”

She laughed. “I remembered that I meant to see you all again, called Brianna and asked if now was a good time. She told me to come over and fuck and suck you, if I wouldn’t mind. And I don’t. I’ve been intending to have sex with you again. Plus, this fits into my schedule. Don’t take it the wrong way but...I got a lot to do today, so I had to squeeze you in.”

“Oh no, I’m more than thrilled to be part of your schedule,” he replied.

She laughed. “That’s what I like about you. You make it easy.” She looked down. He was already hard again. “You definitely make it easy, you ready for pussy? ‘Cause I’m so ready for this dick,” she said, smirking at him.

“Ready,” he replied.

“Good. Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.”

“I trust you,” he said as she straddled him.

“I’m glad.”

She lined his dick up with her Valkyrie vagina, which was completely smooth and beautiful and glistening, and he could feel heat actually coming off of her, and he felt a thrill of tremendous excited lust rush through him, and then she lowered herself, her enormous hips working, thigh muscles bulging.

She penetrated herself with his rock-hard cock and moaned loudly.

“Oh my fucking God, Helena,” he whispered as she slipped him inside of her tight, slippery wet vagina. She felt simply amazing inside, a perfection of pleasured paradise. Reaching forward, she grabbed the headboard and began to ride him. Slowly, carefully, she slid her vagina up and down his rigid cock, and the pleasure felt like it was melting him. He groaned loudly and stared up at her enormous breasts as they hung down over him. They were the biggest tits he’d ever seen in his entire life, and he reached up and grasped them, groping them in a nearly catatonic state of absolute lust. Listening to her moan loudly, he laid there and enjoyed being fucked by a Valkyrie. It was truly an experience.

And it helped take him away from all the bad shit. From the fact that his leg had been broken, and still hurt. The fact that he was, admittedly, kind of scared to leave the apartment. The fact that someone had tried to straight-up murder him and his girlfriend and her best friend by crashing into them and sending them rolling down a fucking embankment off the highway in the middle of the goddamned night, then came at them with a gun. Or the fact that he was now having nightmares just about every night.

“You like that?” Helena asked with an unshakable confidence. He wondered if she had ever disappointed anyone, in her life, in bed.

Probably not.

“Oh fuck yes,” he panted as she kept riding him. She was careful and very in control, her huge, pale body looming over him. He looked down between them, where their crotches met, and saw her tremendously powerful thighs and her huge, broad hips, and his cock disappearing into her again and again, and the pleasure seemed to magnify.

“You’re gonna make me come, Alex,” she murmured.

“I’m just...laying here,” he groaned.

She laughed. “Your dick feels really good, and I think you’re really cute.”

“Here, let me-fuck!”

“No, no, handsome,” she said, gently placing a hand against his chest. A big hand. He could feel the enormity of her strength. “You just relax, that was our deal, remember? Brianna and Aurora would be wicked pissed at me if I hurt you.”

“That’s true,” he murmured, then relaxed. “Although it’d be me hurting myself like an idiot, not you.”

She laughed. “I suppose so. Still, I don’t want to see you hurt. Now relax.”

“Okay.”

He went back to groping her huge, hanging breasts as she kept riding him carefully. She had an incredible amount of control in her movements, which didn’t just take strength but a certain amount of dexterity and spacial awareness. She started to go faster, which was even more impressive, and he listened to her moaning. Her voice grew in pitch and her moans came faster. Fuck, she was going to come. He’d come to recognize that particular set of moans among the women he had become intimate with lately.

It was a very nice sound to hear.

“Yes, Alex...yes, fuck...oh my-fuck!” she cried, and she reached out again and grabbed the headboard tightly.

Alex groaned loudly as he felt her Valkyrie vagina begin to clench and spasm around his dick, felt that gush of feminine sex juices escaping her. And she continued to ride him, increasing the already intense pleasure he was feeling, and it catapulted him over the edge and into the wonderful, pink abyss of his own orgasm.

He had to admit, orgasming bareback into a seven foot Valkyrie as she rode you and was enjoying her own orgasm was a hell of a fucking way to help you forget your problems. For some uncertain moment in time, there was only him and Helena and their sexual unity. He felt himself coming undone, emptying himself into her paranormal pussy, and he felt his leg muscles tensing and releasing in response to the orgasm, and the pleasure was so intense that it didn’t even hurt, or if there was pain, it was very distant.

He came for what felt like a long time, and then he was done, and he collapsed against the bed, feeling very relaxed and very good.

Helena looked down at him with an expression that somehow conveyed both a sort of loving kindness, and smug satisfaction. “There,” she said, almost as if proving a point, and she stood up. His softening cock fell out of her and she walked off the bed, stepping down and walking across the room, back towards the bathroom. He looked at her ass as she went. Fuck, she had such a massive ass. He listened to her clean herself up, then, a moment later, she returned, holding some of her clothes. She took a moment to hunt down the rest, and began dressing.

“Sorry to fuck and run but, like I said, I’ve got places to be,” she said.

“It’s fine. You were amazing. I’m glad we fucked,” he replied.

“The kind of thing I like to hear,” she said as she pulled her pants up and buttoned them. He grunted as she sat her big ass down on the bed hard enough that it shifted him a little violently. “Sorry,” she said, pulling her boots on.

“It’s fine,” he replied, then he sighed. “I need to get ready anyway...what time is it?” he muttered, glancing at Aurora’s digital clock on the bedside table. “Almost two, great. We gotta be there by three. Or, well the appointment is at three, and you know how they are, want you there fifteen minutes early, even if they don’t need you there fifteen minutes early...ugh, I wanted to stay in for the rest of the day. But I can’t.” He sat up.

“Alex,” Helena said, and he immediately looked over at her. There was something in her tone, an immediate heaviness. “I know what you went through was bad, and I know it was bad for you, because I don’t think you’ve gone through anything close to that. And honestly, even after a few hundred years at this, I’m still not really great with words, but...it’s okay to not be okay. Pretending you’re okay doesn’t help. Don’t lie to the people you’re closest to, and don’t lie to yourself. Let yourself...freak out, or cry, or worry. You need to acknowledge what happened. But you also can’t let it change you for the worse. I know that a lot of people don’t get that choice. Some people wind up with PTSD, or anxiety problems, and it isn’t their fault. But if you can...try to be stronger from this. Don’t let what he did own you, or keep you from doing things you want to do. And...I guess, take some time to let everything settle. You’re life got shaken up really bad, and you need to take some time to let the dust settle, and see what exactly you’re working with before going forward.”

They looked at each other for a long time.

“Thank you, Helena,” he said finally.

She smiled, and this time there was nothing but kindness and understanding in it. She opened her arms, and he went over to her and hugged her. She held him firmly. “I’ve been through a lot of really bad shit, Alex, so I know how it hurts. I like you, and I want you to heal.” They hugged for another minute longer, and after they released each other, she looked around. “Where’s your phone?”

“Uh, here,” he said, grabbing it from the bedside table.

“I want to give you my number. My personal number,” she said.

“Okay.” He unlocked his phone and passed it to her. “Not that I’m complaining but...any real reason?”

She finished punching her number in and passed it back. “If you need to talk, about whatever, even just to complain or yell or cry or something, and you want it to be me...call me. I don’t care if it’s four in the morning. Like, I really don’t care what time it is. I’ll answer it, okay?”

“Wow...thanks. I, um, I don’t know what else to say. This is...really appreciated,” he murmured.

“Thanks is enough,” she said. Then she kissed him again and stood up. “Think about what I said. And I’ll talk to you later, okay?”

“Okay,” he replied.

“So long for now, Alex.”

“So long for now, Helena,” he said, feeling a little dazed. That was...unexpected. Not unpleasant though. The opposite.

He listened to her leave, and before too long, a drive to be at least somewhat responsible forced him to get up, walk into the bathroom, and start up the shower. He was scared, and he didn’t want to leave the apartment for that reason, but also he was tired. It was a strange kind of lethargy. He’d felt it in the hospital, but had passed it off as a side effect of painkillers and recovering from damn near dying. But it had persisted, followed him to the apartment, and had yet to release him. It was a kind of sluggish exhaustion that let him fall off right away when he laid down to sleep, and to stay under for ten or twelve hours at a time.

He could tell that Brianna and Aurora were worried.

It also felt like a mental exhaustion. He hadn’t even tried to work on his music. Mostly he’d just slept, had sex, and played video games or watched cartoons. Brianna and Aurora had been fucking him two to three times a day. Apiece. He could tell they felt guilty, especially Brianna, which made him feel guilty, but it wasn’t like they didn’t want to have sex with him, and he obviously wasn’t extorting it out of them at all.

No, he supposed, what was making him uncomfortable with it was he could tell that they were using it as a kind of emotional band-aid. They were, in their own ways, telling him, or really telling themselves, that they were making it all better with sex. But he didn’t know how to successfully convey to them that he didn’t blame either of them. Really, he kind of blamed himself, but mostly he just blamed Emma’s asshole ex-husband.

It was just...shitty circumstances, combined with one person deciding to do something horrible and unnecessary.

By the time he finished washing up and drying off, he heard the front door to the apartment open, and hated that there was a bolt of fear that hit him, because what if it was someone coming to finish the job? He mostly believed that Jeremiah had been successfully intimidated by Evangeline, and was in enough legal trouble as it was. (He had already given a statement to the police before leaving the hospital, a lengthy one, and they said he might have to appear in court later, something he really wasn’t looking forward to.)

But...what if?

Then he relaxed as he heard Brianna call out, “Alex? Honey?”

“I’m in the bedroom, babe!” he called back.

He gathered his clothes as he listened to them setting groceries down in the kitchen, and then Brianna came into the room. She looked a little relieved, and a little guilty. Which again made him feel guilt.

Goddamn this whole stupid fucking situation Jeremiah had put them all in.

“Did you have fun with Helena?” she asked.

“Yeah,” he replied as he pulled his boxers on. He winced. “Lots of fun.”

“Let me help you,” she said, hurrying over and grabbing up his jeans.

“I can put my pants on,” he replied, but without much conviction. It did hurt to bend down and grab them.

“That isn’t what I said, love,” Brianna murmured as she began getting his legs into the pants.

“This is embarrassing,” he muttered as she pulled his pants up, had him stand, and pulled them up the rest of the way.

“It doesn’t have to be, Alex. It’s not like I’m secretly thinking that you’re pathetic or anything, honey. I don’t mind helping you...I want to help you...I like helping you,” she said.

“I know, I know. Sorry,” he replied.

She looked up at him, still on her knees, as she buttoned his jeans, then bit her lower lip, looking down at his crotch. “You know, I’m on my knees here...”

He laughed. “Super tempting, but we don’t have time. And I don’t think I could get it up again so soon. Helena was...vigorous.”

First Brianna smirked, then she frowned. “She wasn’t too rough, was she?”

“No, no, not at all,” he replied. “She was very careful, and very...sweet. She gave me her personal number, to call in case I needed to talk.”

“Wow,” Brianna whispered, and finished buttoning and zipping his jeans. “That’s...a big deal. Not a lot of people have that number.”

“I kind of figured. She told me, legitimately, to call anytime, day or night, if I really felt like I needed it.”

“Helena’s a great person,” Brianna said. “Um...I guess I should get ready. Here, lemme change. I want to wear something a bit less...lazy ass twenty-something.” She looked down at herself. She was wearing a t-shirt and some sweatpants.

“You look pretty fucking good,” he said, staring at her.

She laughed. “You always think that.”

“It’s always true.”

She hesitated, then she leaned down and kissed him on the mouth. “I love you, Alex,” she said, her lips so close to his they brushed them when she spoke.

“I love you too, Brianna,” he replied, feeling a warm, comforting rush as he heard those words, and said them back to her.

That was something that was a very positive development in their relationship, at least. He only felt better about saying that, and he was happy that he could say it and mean it, and Brianna seemed positively thrilled. He studied her as she began stripping naked. In a lot of ways, she still blew his fucking mind.

Brianna was, by several magnitudes, more attractive than he was.

He felt like...maybe a six, dating a fucking ten. Honestly, dating a fifteen. She was a goddamned werewolf. But in her human form, she was almost six feet tall, very trimly built, with firm, small muscles on an athletic frame, pale skin, and big fucking tits. Like, goddamn she had some big tits. And they looked even bigger because she was skinny. Her black hair was pulled into a simple ponytail. Every movement was smooth and fluid, like a professional dancer. She didn’t really seem to hesitate in anything she did.

“Oh hey, hello.”

They both looked over. Aurora stood in the doorway with a smirk, studying Brianna closely, who was presently crouched naked on the floor, sorting through her suitcase, which she had yet to actually unpack.

“You gonna fuck? Can I watch?” she asked. “I would’ve thought Helena would have worn you out, Alex.”

“She did,” Brianna replied, “I’m just getting dressed. We need to get to the hospital.”

“Oh yeah, fuck, that’s today, huh? You want me to go?” Aurora asked.

“We’ll be fine, Aurora. I know you want to chill out and get high. We won’t be gone for that long,” Brianna replied.

“Yeah, fair enough.” She walked over to Alex and looked at him with a smile. Like a lot of the women now in his life, she was quite tall. “You doing okay?”

“I’m fine,” he replied.

She gave him a hug and a kiss on the mouth. “Okay. Let me know if you need anything, I’ll leave you two love bugs alone.”

“Isn’t it love birds?” he asked as she began walking away.

“Nope,” she replied without further explanation, and disappeared into the living room.

“Here we go,” Brianna muttered. She pulled some panties on, and then pulled on some tight jeans, a sports bra, and a t-shirt. “Okay, now I’m closer to an adult. I’d wear a dress, but we’re going to a fucking hospital.” She walked over and took his hand. “Ready, honey?”

“Ready,” he said.

They began walking out of the apartment.

Haven 2 Chapter One Preview

So…Haven 2.

I’m sorry it’s taking so long. I think this might be the longest I’ve gone without publishing something, which sucks, and scared me when I fully realized that.

The good news is that I’m taking this whole week to basically just make a shitload of progress on Haven 2. It’s at least 1/3 done as of right now, and when this week is over, it should be at least 2/3 finished, possibly more. I am going to try very hard to have it out in July.

For now, here is the first chapter.

And if you are a 1$/month Patron over on my Patreon, you can read the first AND second chapter right here!

CHAPTER ONE

Even in the cold light of day, David couldn’t shake the uneasiness that had settled over him since the previous night.

After the bandits broke in and had forced the situation that resulted in two deaths, he thought he wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep. He hadn’t wanted to, not at first, but Evelyn had offered to stand guard the rest of the night. He wanted to at least share the responsibility with her, but she’d told him that goliaths didn’t need quite as much sleep as humans, and they didn’t want to put the responsibility on April, she was shaken enough as it was. David didn’t know if Evelyn had been lying about the sleep thing to make him feel better, but finally he’d relented after making her promise to wake him up if anything else happened, or, barring that, at dawn.

Then he’d laid down with April, and had held her. She had cried a bit, and he understood. He was halfway there himself, that had scared the shit out of him, and he imagined it must’ve been worse for her. She’d seemed embarrassed, but shortly after she was done, she’d fallen back asleep. At some point, he’d drifted off as well.

There had been nightmares, and several times he’d woken and shifted, rolling over to check and see that Evelyn was still there, still safe, still okay. She always was. She sat at the table with a book and a candle, lit by it and the mellow glow of the fireplace behind her. Whenever he looked at her, she could tell, and she’d smile and tell him to go back to sleep. Although he’d probably gotten six or maybe even seven hours of sleep, it had been very broken sleep, and he felt kind of shitty right now. But he at least felt properly motivated.

Evelyn seemed pretty much normal, but April was still subdued and anxious. She hadn’t seemed like she’d wanted to stay behind, nor had she wanted to leave, and he felt bad for her. Ultimately she recognized the reality of her situation and had gone with them. As soon as Evelyn had gotten them up, they’d eaten a quick breakfast and then begun packing their most important possessions, mainly the food, the ammo, and the medicine. They had split it between them, as well as a few of their more personal items, then they’d headed out.

It was a crisp, chilly morning, bright with cold sunlight shining down on them through dead trees, made brighter by the layer of frosted snow that covered everything. David had been able to see the bootprints in the snow even in the morning. It made the whole thing scarier somehow, maybe more real. Last night had obviously been real, but when he’d first woken up, he’d wondered if he’d had a nightmare or something. Things that happened suddenly in the night often seemed unreal or impossible in the morning.

But this had happened, and they were acting on it.

At least that was helping. David had spent the first part of his life in fear. The world was fucking terrifying. His parents had done much to shelter him from the worst of it, which was good, because he’d be dead now if they hadn’t, he was almost positive. But they had at least prepared him some as well. He knew how to shoot, reload, and even clean a gun by the time he was twelve. And he was good at it within two years. He’d adopted a workout regimen that kept him in decent shape, limber, and fast. He was decently strong, but he was definitely faster and more dexterous. Which was also good, because otherwise he’d also be dead.

He’d started doing things more often than not maybe five years ago.

It had come sort of as a realization, one of those weird, startling revelations that slammed into you. He’d been trapped in a shack in the middle of nowhere, alone, with zombies outside, and he was going over options in his head. He’d wanted to just wait it out, because eventually they’d wander off...probably. Or at least there were supposed to be other people out and about in the area, and they’d come find him...maybe.

But then he’d just looked down at the gun he was holding, and then up, out the single window of the shack, and it had just kind of come to him: this is what he always did. He always tried to wait it out, he always tried to hide, he always tried to pawn the responsibility off on anybody else, and he suddenly, almost violently, hated that aspect of himself. Even to this day, even right now, he couldn’t explain what had led to this abrupt reversal. He only knew that he’d made a tectonic shift that day, a massive change, and he had emerged from that shack and shot five zombies in the head, and had gone back to the settlement he was staying at a different person.

Now that the knowledge of how he honestly, truly acted had been highlighted for him, he’d begun to recognize it for what it was, and while he didn’t always take action, he did far more often than ever before. And so now, here he was, taking action again. It was necessary, although there was a part of him that was anxious about this. There was a lot to be done, if they were going to make this place, these abandoned campgrounds, their new home.

“Are you doing okay, April?” Evelyn asked.

David glanced over. April still looked sullen and withdrawn. Although now she looked a touch angry. “I’m fine,” she said curtly.

“April-” he began.

“I’m fine!” she snapped.

He stopped, and so did Evelyn. April walked another few paces before slowing to a halt. She didn’t turn around though.

“April...please,” David said. “We’re not trying to be difficult.”

She heaved an explosive sigh and turned around finally. “I know! Fuck! I...I’m sorry,” she said, her shoulders slumping. Her tail twitched behind her. “I’m sorry,” she repeated. “I’m not trying to be difficult. I’m just...angry. I’m such a fucking coward and I hate it so fucking much but I don’t know how to be brave.”

“You’re here, now,” Evelyn said.

“After arguing with you about it,” she muttered. She sighed and shook her head. “And now I’m wasting time with this. I don’t know how to do it. I don’t know how to do what you two do, what Ellie does. How to not be afraid and do shit.”

“I’m afraid,” David said.

“You don’t look like it,” April replied uncertainly.

“I know. But I am. I was fucking terrified last night. You’ve probably heard this before, but being brave isn’t the absence of fear. Only sociopaths or people with genetic defects don’t feel fear. Some people feel less, certainly, and that can be learned, over time, but most everyone feels fear. Bravery is doing stuff in spite of fear. You could have demanded to stay home, locked away in the basement, waited for us to make sure it was safe, but you didn’t. That’s brave. You were scared but you did it anyway.”

She stared at him for a few seconds, then looked over at Evelyn. Finally, she spoke. “I want you to do me a favor, both of you.”

“What?” Evelyn asked.

“Put more pressure on me to do things. I mean, not crazy risky things, but stuff that needs to be done. You know, don’t be mean to me, but help me out with this. I’ll try not to be too much of a pain in the ass about it,” she said.

“I can do that,” Evelyn replied.

David nodded. “We can help you with this.”

“Thank you. I really appreciate it,” she said. “We should keep going.”

They kept walking.

David began to feel better as they reached the campgrounds.

It was oddly comforting to see them. The buildings, the fence, the surrounding forest. It looked like a fairly defensible position, once they’d made some repairs. And put some barbed wire on the top. That would definitely help.

“What first?” April murmured.

“We need to secure the area. Anyone or anything could’ve gotten in since the last time we were here. After that, we can decide the specifics of our new home,” David replied.

“I wanna live in the big building,” April murmured, glancing at the three-story structure.

“Same,” Evelyn replied.

“Then it’s decided, we’ll live there. Evelyn, I’m thinking we should split up, you go right, I go left, we search the cabins one by one until we meet on the other side, then we search the main building,” David said.

“Sounds good to me,” Evelyn replied.

“What about me?” April asked.

David had been considering that. “I have a job for you. I need you to check the perimeter, the space between the backs of the cabins and the fence, to see if anything or anyone is inside.” He handed her his pistol and a spare magazine. “Do you feel comfortable doing that?”

She frowned, then accepted the pistol. “I can do it,” she replied. “I will do it.”

“Good. Thank you. Shout if you see anything. When you’re finished, wait for us in the center of the campgrounds.”

“Okay.”

She turned and walked off after checking over the pistol with a reassuring certainty. David had the suspicion that April wasn’t as bad at things as she thought she was. She just needed some more confidence. And the only way to build confidence was to do things. Typically successfully doing things helped, but he was surprised how many times he’d failed, and felt better than if he’d never tried at all. He watched her go, then grabbed his shotgun and nodded to Evelyn. She nodded back. They headed into the main area and looked around.

Seeing nothing, they split up and began their search of the cabins. David settled into his search mentality, focusing on the here and now, listening for anything, looking for clues that might tip off if someone had been here recently. Or if someone was still here. Or something. The newer ones were smart enough to hide in wait, which was a whole new level of terrifying. He cleared the first cabin, finding nothing but empty rooms and lonely places. After checking it, he moved on to the next one. And this was how the next half an hour passed. David suspected that no one was here, and by the time they met back at the main building, he’d been proven right. At least so far. Neither Evelyn nor April reported seeing anything.

They headed into the main building. It looked undisturbed. They took the time to search the building over top to bottom, and found nothing. Although David found a bathroom on the third floor that he’d overlooked initially.

“Okay...now what?” Evelyn asked as they came to stand back down in the main room of the first floor.

“First, who gets where for bedrooms? How do we wanna do that?” David replied.

“Well, given my size and the fact that you’re my boyfriend, I say we get that master bedroom up on the third floor,” Evelyn said.

“Fair enough. April?”

“Well, I want to be near you, but I would also like my own space, so I think the smaller bedroom next to the master bedroom up there would make the most sense,” she replied.

“Perfect. I think the next order of business is to empty our packs somewhere safe. Ideally one of us would stay here and guard it, but...I really think we should get everything out today, which will happen faster if all of us are transporting.”

“I’m okay with that,” April replied.

“Yeah. I think this place is secure. And I’m pretty decent at hiding things,” Evelyn said.

“Perfect. Let’s do it.”

As they made their way back home, David was happy to note that he was feeling a lot better. This was going very smoothly so far. Although it could all go to hell very abruptly, which he tried not to think about. That was just the nature of life nowadays. More so than ever before. As they came to their previous home, he felt fear shoot into him as he saw someone standing outside the door, waiting, but he relaxed when they turned to face him.

He recognized this person.

“Ashley?” he asked.

“Hello David. Hello Evelyn. Thank you again for rescuing me.” She looked at April. “We haven’t been introduced,” she said, and put her hand forward.

April took it tentatively. “I’m April.”

“Good to meet you. Is everything okay?”

“Yeah...mostly,” Evelyn replied.

“We were attacked last night. We’re fine, but we’ve decided to live somewhere a bit more secure,” David answered.

“Oh. Well, that sucks, but I’m glad it turned out okay.”

“Did you need something?” he asked.

“Yes. Well, not need per say, more want. My parents are...too cautious. My whole family is. Understandable, given the circumstances, but cautious isn’t always the answer. I’ve been scouting, I’ve found a few buildings I think are worth checking out, and I’m not reckless, so I figured I’d ask for some backup. And you came to mind,” she said.

David glanced at the other two women. “How do you feel about that?”

“We can handle this,” Evelyn replied. She had a small smile on her face. “Go have fun.”

David hesitated. There was something about the way she’d said that. He didn’t think that this excursion would be particularly fun.

Unless she thought something else was going to happen.

He glanced again at Ashley. Well, it would be nice to have fun with her.

“Okay, uh, let’s go then,” he said. “I’ll meet you both back at the camp.”

He gave each of them a hug and a kiss, then joined Ashley. She looked at him, a very small smile on her face, then she glanced back at the other two women, then she turned and began walking. David followed after her, wondering what that had been about. Obviously there was some kind of subtle thing happening, but he’d always been a bit on the slow side when it came to subtlety. In a way he found that he was missing some crucial sense. It was like being deaf but not blind. You sure as hell could see gunfire, but you had no idea what it sounded like.

“So...” she said after a few minutes as they walked south.

“So?” he replied.

“I saw you give both of them a kiss. On the mouth.”

“Uh...yeah. I did.”

“I kind of suspected you and Evelyn had something sultry going on, based on how you two interacted when you saved me. But I didn’t know you had another girl, let alone another inhuman,” she said.

“And what do you think about that?” he replied after a moment.

She laughed loudly. “That was an incredibly neutral statement. Don’t worry, I’m not judging you. I don’t disapprove. I approve, actually. Takes guts to date an inhuman.”

“Why?” he asked. It came out more defensive than he meant it to.

“Oh, not for the reason you might think. I’m not saying it takes guts to like an inhuman, you like who you like. We don’t get to pick our crushes. No, it takes guts to date an inhuman. To act on those feelings. I mean, for both of you. We humans aren’t the only ones who can be racist. I respect your relationship...relationships. Not just interracial, but polyamorous, too. Now that’s interesting.” She paused. “Is this weird?”

“A little,” he admitted.

“Should we stop talking about it?”

“I mean...no, we don’t have to.”

“Okay, good. I’m curious. What’s it like with them? What’s the exact nature of your relationship?”

“Why do you wanna know?” he replied, honestly curious.

“I told you: it’s interesting. I love interesting things.”

“Fair enough, I guess. Evelyn and I met maybe two weeks ago on the road. We became fast friends, and then we...hooked up, the night River View fell. We decided that, since we liked each other and were really attracted to each other, we should be boyfriend and girlfriend.”

“Very cute. And April?”

“Well, we rescued her from River View by chance. She was trapped and injured. We’re not exactly boyfriend and girlfriend, but we are sexually involved. I mean, I guess we’re not not boyfriend and girlfriend. Evelyn is happy for us. April is...tender. I’m attracted to her and I want to make her happy, make her feel good.”

“And I bet it makes you feel really good to fuck that rep pussy.”

He chuckled nervously, feeling heat rushing to his cheeks. “I mean...yeah.”

“I’ve only ever been with an inhuman once. A jag girl who was about ten years older than me. Hundreds of miles from here awhile ago. It was...extremely good.”

“Yeah...” he murmured, thinking of Ellie.

“Oh? You’ve been with a jag, too?”

“Uh. Yeah.”

“You’re blushing...do you have a third girlfriend?” she asked, suddenly interested again, grinning broadly.

“I mean...sorta.”

“Wow, you fucking get around. Rep, goliath, and jag? Who is she?”

“Just someone I met out and about. She’s...I don’t want to talk about it really?”

“Oh? Why not?”

“I don’t really know how she feels about our relationship. Not that we really have one. We’re friends...I think. She’s secretive, but I guess she likes me, given how many times we’ve fucked. But I don’t know if she’d be okay with other people knowing about us. I mean, Evelyn and April know, but I don’t want to make her upset or embarrassed or uncomfortable, you know?”

“That’s fair. I really respect that. Most guys can’t shut the fuck up about the chicks they’ve fucked.”

“Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to talk about it, honestly. Evelyn and April are both very beautiful, but this woman is...something else. Just...wow. She’s amazing.”

“You are in lust with her.”

“Yeah. Really bad. She’s just...she’s something else. But again, she has a right to privacy.”

“Well, I think highly of that. Hey, there’s the first building.”

He could see it. It was another abandoned cabin, (how many of them were there sprinkled throughout the region?), and it looked to be in pretty bad shape. The front door was open. Something about that didn’t sit right with him.

David pulled out his pistol.

As they approached, he heard something shift inside. Both of them froze. Could be anything in there: an undead, an animal, a human that may or may not intend harm. He glanced at Ashley. She had drawn her own sidearm.

“Back me up,” he whispered, and when she nodded to him, he began making his way towards the front door.

Another sound came to him as he crept closer, but it was so faint. Whatever it was had to be fairly stealthy. Which kind of narrowed it down. David reached the porch and stepped onto it. It creaked loudly under his boot and he winced. Something let out another sound, this one entirely organic, and he heard light footsteps rapidly approaching.

“Shit!” he snapped, and began backing off.

Before he could make it more than two steps away from the cabin, a stalker appeared in all its undead, horrifying glory. He aimed and fired. It was a good shoot and punched a hole right through its forehead, dropping the creature in an instant. He wasn’t ready for the one immediately behind it. He fired and missed, still backpedaling.

Ashley was ready.

She put two shots into its head, one in the right eye, one in its mouth, and blew its rotting brains out. David prepared himself for another assault, but no more of them came. He slowly let out his breath, shaking slightly.

Those things always scared the shit out of him.

“Fuck, I hate those fuckers,” Ashley snapped. Apparently she felt much the same way.

“We should make sure there’s no more of them,” David said after a few seconds.

“Yeah,” she muttered. “Let’s get it over with.”

They moved carefully into the cabin and did a search of it, but found nothing hanging out in any of the shadowy niches or hidden areas. Once they were sure it was safe, they began their secondary search, hunting for useful supplies. The feeling of anxiety began to abate as they settled in, and David found himself wanting to know more about her. Already, he felt that Ashley was an intriguing person, definitely the kind he was interested in.

And not just because she was in really good shape and had a really beautiful face, but also because of her personality.

He seemed to be drawn to women like her.

“So how have things been going with your family?” he asked.

“Fine, I guess. We’ve been fighting a little.” She hesitated, then looked guilty. “I guess more than a little. We’re kind of different. We didn’t used to be, or at least not this much, but the past year has changed my parents. They’ve always been cautious, I’ve always been...”

“Reckless?”

She snorted. “No!...maybe. I was going to say bold or maybe daring, but yeah, I guess, if I’m being honest, reckless. I’m less so now, because they rely on me a lot. My dad’s like twelve years older than my mom, and she obviously isn’t young anymore, so he can’t really do as much. I mean, he’s in good shape for his age, but, you know, for his age is kind of a low bar. I mean, not that I’m dumping on him or anything. My dad’s a great guy. He used to be more like me, not reckless but he would risk his life a lot for us. He almost died six months ago, broke his arm, and I think that...kinda knocked a lot of his confidence out of him. Which my mom likes, in that she likes him not risking his life all the time. She’s very capable, but really cautious...”

She sighed suddenly. He looked over at her. She had been digging through a box, but now she was staring at the wall in front of her.

“What?” he asked.

“I just...I was going to leave. I’m twenty six now. I’ve been wanting to be on my own for a few years, but my parents kept talking me out of it. And then everything changed when the...the mutations came. Even with all that was happening, I feel like I could leave, just go somewhere on my own, but...my little brother. I can’t stand the thought of abandoning him.”

“I’m sorry,” David murmured.

“Me too.” She laughed suddenly, the sound a little bitter. “Honestly, one of the upsides of what happened recently is that I finally feel the pressure coming off. The pressure to get out and do things, because I’m the most capable person in my household. My parents always had some reason to keep me from going out into the wilderness, looking for adventure. But now? Doesn’t matter what they say, I’m really the only one that can go out and find food, supplies, help. Even then, they still argue with me whenever I head out.”

“Where would you go?” he asked.

“That’s the thing, I don’t even know. It’s not like I have this dream destination in mind or anything. I don’t want to go anywhere specific. I just want to go, you know? Although I’m beginning to wonder if that’s true.”

“What do you mean?”

“The urge to be on my own was...overwhelming, maybe two years ago. I’d run away a lot. I mean, not like run away run away, but, you know, I’d leave. And just take walks. I mean, I know how to defend myself, I’ve got good reflexes, good senses. But it’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be. I’m...not calm, but calmer. I find myself grateful to be with my family more, that we’re all still alive and okay, for the most part. I don’t know, I just wish there was some kind of, you know, some way I could balance the two things.”

“Maybe you can,” David said.

“How?”

“There was a woman I met earlier, and...what?” he asked. She’d turned to look at him suddenly and she had that smirk on her face again.

“The way you said that...did you sleep with her?”

“I, um, well...” he hesitated, derailed both by her question and by the sudden flood of memories of having amazing sex with Cait.

How many women have you actually fucked since coming here?” she asked.

“Four,” David replied. “Just four.”

She laughed. “Yeah, just four.”

“I got really lucky. That is nowhere near normal. Like, not even close. This is the most sexual activity I’ve had like...ever. And it was just once with this other woman. But that’s not my point. My point is, she lives a kind of...drifting lifestyle, it seems. She just moves around the region all the time, doing a ton of different things. She has a lot of different places she stays at. You could do something like that, you know? Have wherever your parents are staying be like your home base, and you go back there every few days. But otherwise, you’re out and about, doing things, helping people, looking for supplies, you know?”

“Hmm...” She fell silent, her gaze falling as she thought about it. “That’s actually a really good idea. I guess I never really thought that a middle ground was an actual possibility. I’ll have to think about it. But thank you, that’s a good idea.”

“You’re welcome,” he murmured in reply, sure that he was blushing again.

And now he was thinking about Cait, and the way she moaned for him to impregnate her. Fuck that had been hot. Maybe he should ask Evelyn to ask for the same thing, although it wasn’t quite the same, given he knew he couldn’t impregnate her. Although he knew-well, he didn’t know for a fact that he couldn’t knock Cait up, it was just ridiculously unlikely. Whatever, it had been awesomely hot, and he hoped he saw her again, and that she’d want to fuck him again, because she was probably the hottest human he’d ever seen.

Definitely the hottest he’d ever been with.

They finished searching the cabin and found nothing more than some clothes that might make for semi-decent trading. With the search finished, they left the cabin and moved back out into the crisp winter air.

“What’s next?” he asked.

“There’s a house a little farther north I want to check out,” she replied.

“All right, lead me to it.”

They set off once again.

Preview of Haven (Chapter 1)

Hello, everyone! Haven is actually going really well. The only thing that’s going to keep me from releasing it in a reasonable amount of time is that it’s turning out longer than I thought. I do think I’m getting better at figuring that out, but I think it has a HUGE learning curve, given I’m writing entire novels now.

Anyway, here is the first chapter. If you want to read the first two chapters, you can do so over on my Patreon (if you are a 1$/month Patron), right HERE.

I hope you enjoy!

CHAPTER ONE

David was now almost positive that he was completely screwed.

If there was a checklist for being screwed in a world ravaged by an apocalypse scenario, then he supposed he’d check off most of them.

Being alone? Check.

Being under-equipped? Check.

Being in the presence of dangerous, mutant monsters that would gleefully shred his intestines at the first available opportunity? Check.

Being lost? Check.

At least he wasn’t wounded, but it was almost dark, and it was colder than it had been all year so far. His breath was actually foaming on the air, which hadn’t happened until today. It was a terrible sign that winter was very, very close.

Technically speaking, David wasn’t sure he was lost per say, because he wasn’t really sure where he was going. This was new territory, and he’d been desperately trying to find some sign of civilization for the past two days. Presently, he stood in the middle of a clearing, looking at the mostly dead trees surrounding him, beneath a darkening gray sky, straining his ears to hear if anything was around him. That was the problem with these new creatures: they were so effective at murder. He never thought he’d miss the day where the only things he had to deal with were zombies and assholes looking to rob him. Those were practically golden days compared to this.

“Shit,” he whispered as he turned around.

Something definitely shifted among the trees and scrub bushes from back the way he’d come. He had a vague notion of heading east, but that hadn’t gotten him anywhere but woods and more woods so far. David tightened his grip on his pistol. It was all he had left at this point. He’d had to trade his hunting rifle not too long ago to join the caravan heading for safety and shelter, and now they and it were gone.

Whatever the thing was, it was creeping closer.

He took aim, waiting, heart hammering in his chest, blood starting to pound in his ears. He could do this. He’d done it before. How many times had he fought for his life? Shoot something? Shot someone? Too many to count at this point. But growing up in a world that had already been devastated for a few decades before you were even born, well...that tended to be an average life for someone who was still alive at the age of twenty four.

What was it?

He was in the woods, so it was probably a damned stalker. Those things were horrifying. He caught a flicker of movement between two of the trees and cursed softly again, adjusting his aim. The sunlight was fading, already heading into twilight. He shifted anxiously. Something again moved, and then silence. The tension was really starting to get to him. There was definitely something there. What if it was a person? He honestly couldn’t tell if it was getting closer or farther away. Maybe it was a person, and they’d been hiding, and now they were subtly trying to retreat because they didn’t know if he was a monster–

A maddened blur of movement abruptly burst out of hiding, into the clearing, and started coming right for him.

David shouted and opened fire, but he saw a second muzzle flare and heard a second gunshot just barely before his own. His shot went wild, but the second (or, he supposed, first), shot hit the back of the creature’s head and sent it sprawling to the dirt like ragdoll. He exhaled sharply as it skidded across the ground and came to rest almost at his feet. It had indeed been a stalker, a slim, slender horror cast in green and brown, and gray as well, meant to blend into the environment. It had long, sharp claws, like black talons, that glinted dully in the fading twilight.

“You were really lucky I was here.”

He looked up sharply, his mind stuttering to catch up to the situation as he abruptly remembered that someone else was there, and that they were armed. He saw movement among the trees not far from where the stalker had come from. It was a lot more obvious this time. David shifted aim as he waited for whoever it was to come to him.

It could be anyone, with any intention.

“Relax, I’m not looking to shoot or rob you,” the person said.

A woman emerged from the trees and he tensed up. She was human and very attractive, and that made him suspicious. He’d seen very attractive women used as bait to lure in horny wanderers before. There were usually armed and armored assholes somewhere nearby, ready to jump on you the second you got close enough. But...no. She didn’t fit. Those women were always dressed very scantily, were always unarmed, and way more...demure.

Nothing about this woman seemed demure.

She had on a leather jacket, reinforced cargo pants, and heavy boots. She had on a large backpack and the handle of probably a snub-nosed shotgun peeked over one shoulder. This woman could probably grab it, aim, and fire accurately in a second. An air of extreme competent hovered around her like a presence.

“Thanks,” he said, lowering his pistol.

“Not a problem, I like helping people out. And you look like you need help,” she replied.

He fought an instinct to respond immediately in the opposite, because there was a culture out there among the wanderers and travelers, and a line like ‘you look like you need help’ was often an insult, meant to cut deeply.

But she didn’t look like she was trying to insult him. On top of that, he did need help. Even if there wasn’t something trying to kill him in this moment, he was still lost and alone, with a frigid night on rapid approach.

“I do,” he admitted.

“Okay. You want to come stay at my campsite?” she offered.

“I would,” he replied, then paused. “You’re really just offering? What do you want in return?”

“Nothing,” the woman answered. “I just like helping people.”

He considered it a moment longer. She seemed pretty genuine. Was this a trap? Was there some angle he just wasn’t seeing? “What’s your name?”

“Cait,” she replied.

He frowned, then nodded and started walking towards her, stepping over the corpse of the stalker. Whatever she might be up to, David had to concede that going with her was not only his best bet of survival right now, but his only one.

“What’s your name?” Cait asked as he joined her and they started walking, leaving the clearing, heading into the dead forest.

“David,” he replied.

“Okay, David. So...what the hell are you doing all the way out here, by yourself? You’re the only person I’ve come across today and I’ve been scouting all day,” Cait asked.

He sighed. “I was with a group. We’ve been traveling for a few weeks now, looking for a place to settle for the winter. We’d heard that there was a settlement in this region and that’s where we were going. Then we got attacked by some stalkers and most of the group died, I got separated...that was a few days ago. I’m pretty sure everyone else is dead.”

“Fuck, that’s horrible. I’m sorry,” Cait said. “Well, the good news is that I can give you a relatively safe place to stay for the night, and I can point you towards a settlement. I’m not sure if it was the one you were looking for, but it is a village, and it’s not too far away from here. Maybe three hours’ or so walk. Most of which is on a road.”

“Wow...thank you. Uh, what are you doing out here?” he asked.

“Exploring, adventuring. It’s what I do. This was one of my farther excursions. I felt like coming out far this way for some reason today. Good thing for you I did. Normally I hang around the area the settlement is built in. There’s a lot around, actually. Some abandoned buildings, some outposts set up, a mountain, a lot of forests, a lake, a river, an island. It’s a cool region, actually.”

“Huh. So you...live in the village, or...”

“No, not really. Sometimes I’ll hit up the inn and stay there for a few nights if I’m feeling lonely or I had a really close call or something. But I’m pretty much a wandering nomad. This region is my home. I’ve been exploring it for about two years now. Generally I just kill monsters, plunder old buildings, and help people,” Cait explained.

“That sounds...interesting,” he said. “And dangerous.”

“Oh it is, but I’d admittedly rather do this than settle down. Ah, there we are, home for the night,” she said.

Her campsite turned out to be a small cabin tucked away in a small clearing. By the time they actually hit the front door, the sunlight was almost totally gone from the night, and it was very cold. The wind was picking up, and it had a bitter chill to it. David eagerly followed her into the cabin and closed the door behind him. He saw there were a few locks on it, and he hit them all. Looking around, he saw the windows had been neatly boarded over. They were all uniform and solid-looking boards, nothing haphazard about it.

Although there was only one main room, (there was also a tiny closet and a very small bathroom), it was surprisingly cozy and neat.

“Is this like...your place?” he asked. “It looks nice.”

“Thank you, but it’s not. Just one of them. One of the many things I do as I roam is find places like this and fix them up,” Cait replied as she moved over to a fireplace. She shrugged out of her pack, crouched down, and began getting a fire going.

He couldn’t help but check out her ass. It was really nice, and looked almost showcased with how the pants pulled up tight against it. She was clearly very fit, but there were some nice curves to her. David made himself focus. She’d brought him here to be nice, not to fuck him. Although man would that be fucking awesome.

“Any particular reason?” he asked as he got out of his pack and set it down on the floor next to the single bed in the room.

“It’s fun. That’s why I got started. I wanted a variety of places I could go. But when the new variants started showing up, I figured it would be more helpful to have secure locations scattered across the world. Both for myself and for unlucky travelers like yourself. I leave a little bit of emergency supplies in each one of them.”

The new variants.

Just the mention of them sent a shiver of dread through him. Although he’d been told that the world used to not be a large ruin where half of humanity had been turned into zombies, and half the survivors mutated in a variety of inhumans, he found it hard to imagine. And often counted himself lucky. He’d been born a couple of decades after the great collapse, so to him, zombies roaming around everywhere was pretty normal.

And then, at some point during this year, the virus that turned some people into zombies, and some people into inhumans, began morphing. Rapidly. Suddenly, the zombies became a lot deadlier, and the inhumans, who were immune to the virus, found that they were now capable of turning into deadly nightmarish monstrosities as well.

Nobody knew why this was happening, nor how, only that it was, and apparently everywhere. Or everywhere he’d heard of at least. While before he’d only had to learn to deal with zombies and thieves, now he had a whole array of horrific beasts to survive.

“Aren’t you worried they’ll get broken into and stolen?” David asked, trying to get his mind off the subject of the variants.

“Yeah, I’m sure it happens sometimes, but it’s not like there’s a huge cache of supplies here or something. And I guess I’d rather help the occasional asshole if it means also helping a lot of good people,” Cait replied.

She got the fire going and stood up. She pulled off a black beanie she was wearing and tossed it onto the mantle above the fireplace, letting her hair down. He saw that she had short red hair, and his attraction to her suddenly spiked.

“What should we do about dinner?” Cait asked as she moved over to the door and checked it out. After she seemed confident it was secure, she began checking the windows.

“I don’t have much on me,” David replied.

“That’s fine. I’ve got some canned beef and some bacon stored here. We can fry some up in a pan. Why don’t you get that started? Everything’s in that cabinet over there,” she suggested, pointing to a little kitchenette area that took up one corner of the room.

He got to it, pulling open the cabinets and tracking down a few cans of beef and some sliced bacon, stored in a plastic container. He found a battered black skillet and an old spatula, and brought it all over to the fire.

“So, tell me about yourself,” Cait said as she finished securing the area, then moved over to join him by the fireplace.

“Not much to tell, honestly. I was born in a little village a long ways northwest. When I was eight the village was destroyed by a fire and my parents were killed. A friend of the family adopted me, and we spent the next decade trying to find a new place to settle, but we never stayed anywhere for more than half a year.”

“Oh my God, I’m sorry,” Cait said. “Why?”

“Something would always go wrong. Bad luck. Sometimes the area was just too dangerous. Sometimes there’d be some kind of natural disaster. There was an earthquake at one point. And then we moved towards the middle of the country, and there were a lot of tornadoes. And then we moved pretty far to the south, but a terrible storm hit one summer and wiped out almost everything. I was pretty lucky to get out of that one alive. There was a lot of flooding. And sometimes there were just no prospects there. The community was too tight-knit, they weren’t interested in helping outsiders,” he explained.

“Not surprising,” Cait muttered. “So...how’d you end up here?”

“Well, after wandering from settlement to settlement for so long, I kind of got used to it. I don’t know if I’d say that I prefer it, but it just became my default setting. So I’ve just been, you know, wandering around,” he replied with a shrug. A few seconds passed. “Wow, that got like...kind of dark really fast. Sorry.”

“Why? I’m not,” Cait replied. “I mean, okay, that came off wrong. I’m sorry about the shitty parts, definitely. But...I don’t care that we just met and the conversation took a dark turn. I enjoy these kinds of conversation.”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah.”

“Why?”

“They’re...real.” She paused, frowning and staring into the fire. David took the opportunity to tend to the meal. “People value different things,” she said finally. “I mean, there’s the obvious stuff: food, water, warmth, shelter. But then there’s the deeper stuff. People put their time and effort towards other things. Some people like to collect things. Some people like to hunt things. Some people like to help other people. I certainly value helping other people, but one of the things I love experiencing, I love cultivating, are real moments of connection. And that’s hard to find, honestly. People are so...guarded. But this conversation feels real,” she explained.

“That makes sense, I think,” David replied, considering her words. He kept tending to the meat, making sure it didn’t get burned. He did understand what she was saying, and he did know about the connection that could be made between two people. The older people he’d come across still sometimes had curious ideas about how long it should take to form a friendship, or relationship, or to have sex, but David had never understood that. In a world where you might get your head blown off or your guts ripped out on any given day…

Why wouldn’t you try to find pleasure and happiness wherever you could?

And he also knew what she was talking about, how rare it was to find real connections. He’d made fewer of them than he would care to admit, but he knew that relationships were on a spectrum, and he’d gotten at least semi-decent at figuring out where whoever it was he was talking to had landed. A lot of people were guarded, or were only interested in nothing more than polite and shallow conversation, which he supposed was fair enough. You couldn’t go around spilling your guts to whoever happened to cross your path. There were some friendships that developed naturally over time, but with the lifestyle he had, one where he now tended to stay at a place no longer than a month, or if it was wintertime, three months or so, that wasn’t very feasible. And there was something about Cait, something he’d noticed right away.

“So...in your mind, does this feel like a genuine, rare connection?” he asked.

“It does,” she replied, and smiled at him. “I like you. I like this conversation.”

He felt another pulse of desire hit him hard in his lower stomach, but ignored it for the moment. “I like you, too,” he replied.

“Good! A lot of people don’t,” she said.

“Wait, really?”

“Yeah. I’m too independent, too headstrong, and...admittedly a little too rash in my decision-making. It’s why I largely travel and work alone. I made peace with the fact that I’m kind of impulsive and like to do dangerous things, but I couldn’t make peace with the fact that I might be putting other people in danger. I have no problem risking my life, I couldn’t tolerate risking other people’s lives,” she replied.

“So you never work with anyone? I mean, what if people are willing to also risk their lives on whatever it is your doing?”

“Oh, don’t get me wrong, I work with people. I just meant as a general rule. Sometimes I need help and what I’m doing is too important to fuck up, so I ask for help...I think our dinner might be done,” she said.

He returned his attention to the meat and the bacon, cooking in the skillet besides the fire. It did look done. She got up and moved back over to the kitchen, then returned with a plate. He took out the meat and heaped it onto the plate, then set it down for it to cool. While they waited, the pair each pulled out a canteen of water, then settled in for dinner. For a little while, neither of them spoke, eating the meat after it had cooled down.

“Thank you for this, really. You saved my life,” David said.

“I know,” Cait replied, then grinned at him. “And you’re welcome.” As she ate the last of her meal, she shifted her foot closer to him, until it was resting against his own foot. It felt strangely deliberate. He looked up at her, and she stared back at him with intense blue eyes. He felt a pulse of excitement shoot through him, but felt it hesitated uncertainly. He had to be misinterpreting this. She was a lot more attractive than he was, and she had to have like a decade on him. There was no way she’d be interested in him.

“So...” she said slowly.

“...so?” he replied uncertainly.

She laughed. “Um...anything you particular feel like doing?”

“I mean...maybe?” he replied, more uncertain than ever. She was still looking at him suggestively, and her tone of voice was even more suggestive, but he still could be misreading this, and he didn’t want to offend her or look like an idiot. Or have her laugh at him for the mere idea of her wanting to have sex with him.

“Anything, like, specific you want do tonight? It’s just going to be the two of us here, alone together...in this cabin...with the one bed...”

“Okay, are you like leading me somewhere with this?” he asked suddenly, at one both frustrated and unable to stand the mounting curiosity of if she actually wanted to fuck him.

“Duh!” she cried, then laughed. “Sex, David! I want to have sex!”

“With me?” he asked.

She burst out laughing. “Well no shit! There’s no one else here! I mean, if you’re not interested, please tell me, but if you are, which I think you are, because I’ve seen your wandering eyes–not that I mind–but if you are interested, then speak up! Say so!”

“I’m interested. I really want to fuck you,” he replied, the words tumbling out of him.

“Was that so hard?” she asked.

“I mean, kinda, yeah. Why didn’t you just ask from the start?”

She sighed. “I dunno, people tell me I’m too...pushy. Too forward. And I love having sex, and I meet people. Some of them ask me, but some of them don’t. And once it was pointed out to me that some of the guys I was fucking who might not be into it I might be kind of just pushing into sex. And so I try to let guys, or girls, ask me first.”

“Who wouldn’t be into you?” he replied.

“Gay dudes, bisexuals who just aren’t into ladies right now, inhumans who get turned off by humans?”

“You fuck inhumans?” he asked.

“Yes. I do,” she said very matter-of-factly. “Is that going to be a problem?”

“No! No, not at all. I was just...surprised. People don’t really admit to that, you know?”

“Oh...” she smirked suddenly. “Have you been sticking your cock in some inhuman ladies, you naughty boy?”

“I mean...twice, yeah. I haven’t had a lot of opportunity admittedly,” he replied. “Why is it I tentatively question whether or not you’ve fucked inhumans and you get super defensive, but I admit to it and suddenly I’m a ‘naughty boy’?”

“I’m just teasing you, David. Really, it’s nice to meet a fellow sexual liberal who admits they want to or have fucked inhumans. So...who’d you fuck?”

“You really want to know?” he asked.

“Yeah! I mean, we’re about to have sex, this is arousing conversation. Although wait, hold that thought. I want to wash up first,” she replied.

“Okay...you got enough spare water?”

She leaned forward suddenly, felt along the floorboards, and suddenly pried up a collection of them, revealing a little space beneath. In it was a small wooden box, and beneath that was a bucket. She pulled both out. Opening the box, she pulled out two bars of soap and two washcloths. The bucket was full of water.

“Wow,” he said.

“Yep. Nice, huh? The heat from the fireplace gets into that little niche and warms the water. Or thaws it, if it’s frozen. I try to replace it whenever I can. There’s a little stream nearby that makes it easy. Now strip, and wash. I prefer my fuck friends clean before I filthy them up,” she said.

“Okay,” he replied, and began stripping down.

He felt almost electrified with lust right now. How long had it been since he’d had sex? Six months? Yes...about six or seven months. Way, way too long. And it wasn’t like it was exactly packed before that, either.

David’s eyes became wholly focused on Cait as she started stripping. She was easily the most physically attractive woman he had ever hooked up with, which only became more apparent as she lost her clothing. Once her bra, which was little more than a very tight, smaller shirt, came off and freed her pale, good-sized breasts, he felt a new wave of intense desire and almost desperate need wash over him and rush through him.

When her panties came off her and he saw the pleasant thickness to her very firm hips and thighs, and beautiful pussy, it only got worse.

“So, come on, spill it. Who and when and why?” she asked as she crouched by the bucket, dunked the soap and cloth in it, and began washing herself.

“Yes, right,” he said, and pushed past the roadblock he encountered when it came time to take off his boxers. Being that he traveled around a lot and at least tried to stick to a decent regimen of working out, David was actually in pretty good shape. He was mostly made of lean muscle and his physique was at least somewhat visible. And he’d been naked in front of women before. It tended to happen when sex was imminent.

But he still felt that intense twinge of discomfort when revealing his dick. How did Cait peel off her own underwear with such apparent ease? Maybe it just came with age and experience. Once he was naked, he joined her in washing.

“I lost my virginity to a rep girl,” he said.

“Ooh, really? Very nice,” she replied.

“Really?”

“Yeah! I mean losing your virginity is...okay, it can be nice. But losing it to an inhuman...well, tell me how it was.”

“It was good. It was really good. I met her awhile ago, at one of the villages were staying at. I was seventeen. We both were. Unfortunately, the village got attacked the next day and we got split up and I just...never saw her again.”

“That’s awful! I’m sorry,” Cait said.

“Yeah. But the only other time I had sex with an inhuman was the last time I got laid, about six months ago. I was passing through a village, I had some spare ammo on me, so I hired a jag prostitute and we...had a great night.”

“Oh give me a break, ‘had a great night’, come on, give me more than that,” Cait said.

“Well...she had an amazing ass. We fucked in missionary at first...and then we switched to doggystyle, and I finished in her pussy...then she let me fuck in the ass. It felt amazing. She also had access to her own tub. We fucked in the morning in that tub, and then I didn’t get a chance to see her again,” he replied.

“Why not? She sounds great.”

“I was going to, but then the town got attacked by a pack of zombies and stalkers...”

Cait sighed and nodded. “Yeah, I get that. That’s happening way too much nowadays.” She shook her head. “But I don’t want to get into that. Tonight, I want to have fun, happy sex.”

“Speaking of which...um...I don’t have any protection. I don’t think I can reproduce, but I’m also not sure...”

“Oh, it’s fine. I don’t think I can reproduce either, and this wonderful virus that mutated so many of us into monsters also pretty much wiped out STDs, which I used to say was a side effect that was worth it, but not any longer...anyway, point is: I want bareback sex. And don’t you dare pull out. Even if I do get pregnant, I wouldn’t care too much. I kind of want a kid.”

“Oh...wow, okay.”

She grinned at him. “Does that turn you on?” she asked. “You thinking about getting me pregnant?”

“I mean...yeah, kinda?” he admitted, laughing nervously.

“Oh don’t give me that, I can see your eyes. More than kinda...well, let’s make this romantic. And let’s...let’s pretend you’re trying to get me pregnant.”

Fuck, he didn’t think he could actually get hornier than he currently was, but, well here it was. He felt an all new pulse of mad sexual energy shoot through him and his erection begin to throb. He swallowed. “I would like that.”

She grinned, looking very sultry suddenly. “I would like that too, David,” she said softly. “Finish up washing. Hurry now.”

He nodded and finished up. She moved back over the niche and reached down into it, pulling out a pair of towels. She tossed him one and he caught it, then quickly began drying off. He actually couldn’t remember ever being this horny before. Goddamn he wanted her. He couldn’t stop looking at her body. She had so much beautiful, pale skin, with the occasional scar. Cait was clearly in good shape, but she also clearly enjoyed good meals. She had a very nice amount of padding to her body. She did seem like she’d be really good at hunting, which was still probably the best way to get meals. He looked down at her pussy again. The hair around it was short and red. He loved redheaded women so fucking much.

“Okay, enough drying,” she said, tossing the towel on the floor in front of the fireplace.

He agreed and did the same. They raced over to the bed. As they practically dove into it, she immediately began kissing him, pressing her luscious, hot lips against his own. He groaned at her touch, at her embrace, wrapping his arms around her and hugging her to him. He loved the feel of her. She let out her own moan of satisfaction as they locked lips and began to share saliva. As she opened her mouth and stuck her tongue into his mouth, he tasted her, her natural taste, and it was good. A little sweet, kind of strong.

Her tongue sought his, and soon they were twining and twisting together, wrapping around each other as they passionately made out. David let go of her and put a hand in between them, then began groping one of her big, firm, pale breasts. She felt amazing. Every aspect of her was wondrous and he loved how immediately intimate she was with him. In a way, it felt like they had been lovers before. Her comfort and familiarity with him was welcome. But it also had that gleeful sexual rush of being with a brand new partner.

After a moment, she broke the kiss and looked at him with wild eyes. “Let’s sixty-nine. I want to be on top,” she said.

“Okay,” he replied.

“Thanks!” She kissed him briefly, then shifted around. David laid flat on his back and she straddled his face, settling her pussy over his mouth, and then lowered herself. He stuck his tongue out, seeking her clit, and shivered with excitement as he felt her breath hot against his throbbing erection. He groaned softly as he felt a comforting warmth envelop his balls. She grasped them in her palm and gently began to massage that.

“Oh, you like that, hmm?”

“Hmm-hmm,” he replied, and then she cried out as he found her clit and began to tongue it with slow, sure licks.

“Yes...fuck,” she moaned. “I like that.”

Then he groaned as a fresh wave pleasure hit him when she began to drag her tongue slowly, languorously across the head of his dick. That sent sparks of ecstasy into him, and he was remembering exactly how long it had been since he’d been pleasured by a woman now that he was being forcefully reminded of just how fucking good it felt. And that was way too long. David didn’t exactly consider himself obsessed with sex, but...fuck, sometimes he thought that it alone made life worth living. He just wished he had better luck with it.

Well, he was getting really goddamned lucky right now, at least.

“Mmm...fuck!” he groaned as she took his dick into her mouth and began to bob her head. He heard her muffled laugh as she sucked him off.

She was good at it.

Her lips felt amazing. He kept licking her pussy, wanting to pleasure her just as much as she was pleasuring him, and from the sounds she was making and the way she was twitching occasionally, he thought he was doing at least a half-decent job.

After another minute or so, she stopped sucking his dick abruptly. “I need to fuck,” she said, “I can’t wait any longer.”

“Okay,” he replied.

Honestly, he was about there himself. As much as he loved head, he wanted to be inside of her vagina, wanted to feel the unfiltered, raw, impossible pleasure of bareback sex. Because from what he remembered, it was just the absolute best.

She got off of him and he got up. Taking his place, she spread her legs, smiling at him. “Make me pregnant, David,” she said, and he felt a fresh surge of desire and desperate, almost painful, need pulse through him at that.

He had no fucking clue why that was turning him on so much, but fuck if it wasn’t working as a perfect aphrodisiac!

David hastily laid down on top of her, eagerly laying his pulsating cock at the entrance of her bare, hot, wet pussy, and then he slipped it inside of her. She moaned very loudly, spreading her legs wider. “Oh yes, David!” she cried.

“Shh! Not too loud,” he whispered as he pushed his way into her.

“Sorry, hard to help it. You’ve got such a big dick,” she moaned.

Wow, she was being nice to him. In a way, it almost made him a little suspicious. Women typically only stoked his ego when they were trying to trick him into something, but he still didn’t get any of those feelings from her, and right now, he was way too drunk on lust to think straight. Plus, honestly, he’d met women before who just liked being nice.

Fuck. Her pussy.

Her fucking pussy was the best thing in the entire fucking world.

He moaned loudly as he started having sex with her, sliding slowly in and out of her. The pleasure burned into him slowly, and he could feel his dick throbbing in response to the stimulation, to be inside of her fantastically tight pussy.

“Yes...” she moaned, staring up at him, her face twisting in pleasure. “Fuck, you feel so good.”

“You feel beyond incredible,” he gasped, going faster and harder.

“Make me pregnant,” she whispered. “Make me pregnant, David. Make me a mother.”

“Oh fuck! You’ve gotta stop with that shit, I’m gonna pop if you keep it up! Your pussy already feels insane,” he managed, and he stopped.

“Don’t you fucking dare stop fucking my pussy!” she yelled up at him, then reached down, grabbed his ass and forced his cock deeper into her.

“Fuck!” he moaned and found that his will was too weak. He really started pounding her pussy, grunting and groaning as he drove into her, making the bed shake.

“That’s it! Yes!”

“Fucking take it!” he yelled at her. “I’m gonna fucking knock you up, Cait!”

“Oh God, David, fill me!” she moaned. “Fill me with your fucking seed! Come on! I want you to make me pregnant!”

He let out an inarticulate sound as he started to orgasm. He absolutely did not want to, and he absolutely wanted to at the same time. David so desperately wanted the sex to go on longer, but his desire to pump that sweet, perfect pussy of hers full of his seed became overwhelming, and the pleasure alone was just way, way too much for him. In a way, he was genuinely surprised that he’d lasted as long as he had.

The orgasm felt like a thunderclap, like being struck by lightning.

It felt like a goddamned seismic event.

An explosion of pure, uncut rapture began in his core and burst outward. And then it did so again, and again, as his cock jerked violently inside of her vagina. And it only got more powerful as he realized that she was coming along with him. She moaned loudly and he felt her vaginal muscles clenching around his orgasming dick, massaging it, and she was getting even hotter and wetter, her body moving against his as they climaxed together.

It felt like one of the most powerful orgasms of his life.

When it was over, he regretted that it hadn’t lasted longer, although he had no idea how long it had lasted. Telling time had been beyond him. He collapsed against her, gasping for breath, resting his head on the pillow beside hers.

“Oh fuck...oh fuck...oh fuck...” he gasped, his whole body aching from all the running and other physical activity he’d done over the past week or so being strained by the intensity of that orgasm. It felt like a goddamned full-body one.

“You gonna make it?” Cait asked.

“Fuck me...” he groaned.

She laughed. “Again? If you insist...”

“No, wait, please,” he moaned, then winced as he carefully extracted his insanely sensitive cock from her pussy. “Oh my fuck, that was just...that was some of the best sex I’ve ever had in my life. I’m sorry I didn’t last longer, but you wouldn’t stop!”

“I’m satisfied with the experience,” she replied as she got up off the bed. “We both orgasmed and it felt really good.”

“That it did,” he murmured, falling onto his back, staring at the old, time-worm ceiling of the little cabin, which was spinning slightly. “Fuck.”

“I need to double-check that we didn’t get any unwanted company from my noisy display,” she said. “Stay here.”

She took a moment to wash her pussy with one of the rags, then she came back over to the bed, reached under it, and pulled out a robe. “That yours?”

“Yeah, I keep it here. I don’t want to pull all my goddamned clothes back on just for popping outside for a minute. Don’t worry, I’ll be right back.”

She kissed him, then pulled on her boots, grabbed her pistol, and slipped outside. He sat up, waiting, listening. A moment later, the door opened and she came back inside. “Like I thought, I didn’t see anything.”

Cait rechecked the door and windows once more, then stripped back down, tended to the fire, and then climbed back into bed with him.

“Also, as to your finishing too early concerns, you know we can have sex again, right? And I’m really going to want to. In case you haven’t picked up on it, I’m a horny woman.”

“I’ll need a minute,” he replied.

“That’s fine,” she said, and began kissing him again.
